serious map balance issues on Manus Peak with 1 side gettin to A and C before enemy can get B idk the fun for me has been sapped outta the game its nothing but pubs pubs pubs and more pubs nothing meaningful and this been in beta for almost a year now
like where is the real modes already? where is the meaningful battles? corp battles still a joke atm , u have ppl puttin up 100K contracts yet go full tryhard in full proto gear........like wtf? no one wants to risk anything but everyone wants to be rewarded i dont get it. And tbqh corp battles dont feel like anything more than gambling, there is no purpose in the dust side of FW atm.
Open beta comes on the 22nd and i pray to god the noobs arent made to play this build im hoping for a new build to spice things up because this SP cap, only 3 maps, bland corp matches, only 2 game modes is not enough to hold ppl attention imo.

I can see how it could be viewed that way, but I don't see it that way. If a videogame ever feels like a job, you probably shouldn't be playing it (unless you're a pro and making money at it). I personally have a lot of fun playing Dust, and if I didn't, I wouldn't play it.
I agree the game needs work. It needs polish and content, but we know those things are coming. This game does not have the same development cycle as any other fps really, because CCP plans to support it for years to come. The game has some great foundations laid out, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. |

to be fair the cap will be endless. They want it to take 7 years to max out. And they will add more skills. You will NEVER max out a character, EVER. EVER EVER EVER. Just like eve online, get used to it.
I do however support more sensible so cap systems many of which have been suggested on the forums in the feedback section and you should go post in them to show your support. The current daily system is trash, but the same goal canbe accomplished without making it feel like ajob. Instead having a rolling cap that carries over a weeks worth of sp. So you also gain sp when you play unless you play nonstop. If you played once a week you'd have to play 10 hours to cap out. If you play every it takes 2 hours a day.
I think that's sensible. Let use choose when to earn our sp. Don't make us log in every day. ugh, you can still limit the cap on people who play every day. |

Also CCP needs to let us train passive sp on every character. Becuase unless eve online, this game is free. So you can make 3 accounts, and have 3 characters training sp passively. So if it can be avoided with a work around there is literally no reason to not let all three characters train passive sp. Obviously boosters would be tied to a character. But please it wouldn't work in eve online, but it dust, come on. |

Most definitely. As an example, I got home last night at 10 PM after running all over doing kids\family stuff... I felt obligated to log in because I needed to get my skill points for the day..... just couldn't make it past 1 game... now I feel like I cheated myself out of SP because i didn't play for 2 hours.. it's feeling more cumbersome just to log in.. and when I do during the week.. often times I find myself just jumping into games with randoms wanting to get it over with as quickly as possible...
Go back to the weekly cap. The daily cap gives much less feeling of accomplishment. The feeling of return is diminished and is resulting in less fun for a large number of people, in my opinion. |

This is exactly what I've argued the SP cap causes, and I feel the same.
It's a running joke amongst the gaming community that EVE is a second job and a glorified spreadsheet, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. That's no excuse for Dust to be the same.
My proposal for a fix here. |

This has gotten really bad. Half the time I'm on, i'm getting nothing out of it... so 2 hours turns to 3-4 hours.. .JUST to hit the daily cap. I used to hit the weekly cap in that much time alone... which is fine I guess.. If they're wanting to slow the gain down per game. That's fine... but don't do that and make it a daily cap at the same time. Go back to weekly cap !! |

tbh i dont mind the gains being slow its just that thats ALL we do....SP SP SP SP SP SP SP like srsly it took almost a year to get stability and gameplay down and it still isnt even full 100% right yet either
im in the same boat as u fahren last night i was running on 2 hrs sleep took a power nap and forced myself to get on just to finish off my cap and log off the game wouldnt feel like its cheating u so much if CCP implemented an SP pool BEFORE doin this cap bs
personally i prefer a weekly cap and a pool so ppl tht miss days/weeks wont be punished |

The weekly cap was fun becuase you got a HUGE amount of skill points in 2-3 days. The start of the week you got to feel liek you could unlock whole new builds. And then for the next 4 days you had low sp returns, but you had tons of new stuff to play with if you want to keep playing. While It keeps the sp limit in place, the feel like the start of the week was fun becuase people would jump up super fast into new builds and I'd say that it makes progression feel faster.
also it should be 500sp at least not 50 once you hit cap. |

Yes a proto logi with 4 mids and 4 lows and 4 equipment is not better than militia at all in anyway. It's not like I could fit it out for a 500/400 tank with extra damage and speed mods. |

My take on this situation:
The new skill cap has nothing to do with game balance (i.e. The amount of SP earned per week is no different). CCP wasn't selling enough seven day active booster, because all the hardcore gamers would plow through they're weekly skill caps in less than three days; in which case nearly all hardcore players only bought three day active boosters, thus, completely eliminating the need to ever purchase a seven day skill booster.
Advised course of action:

oh really? Then why did people use Proto suits / guns before the reset? If they are the same then surely people would use a cheaper set up, over a proto set up which costs more isk than you make a game...right?

Agreed!
Welcome to the world of MMO! Better get used to it...it only gets worse over time. They all feel like a job after a while with the grind for daily/weekly/monthly limits.
I've gotten really (and I mean REALLY) wrapped up in 3 different MMOs in my lifetime and all 3 of them were the same, as far as grinding every day to reach the limits. One thing that should (and hopefully will) make things a little more interesting once Dust is released is side quests. I'm not sure how they will be implemented but surely there will be something more to the game than what we have now.
Also, I fully expect Sony to blow it with this game just like they do with nearly every (exclusive) game they ever release....just saying! Most people I've talked to about it have never even heard of it yet, which seems par-for-the-course with any new Sony exclusive. Word-of-mouth advertising works well and is the best method, for some businesses....video games isn't one of them!
I will also add:
I'm sure this has been said 1,000,000 times already but........remember, it still is a beta! The full game will hopefully have a little more excitement added. |

The daily cap should be less of a big deal once people get to high levels in their favorite specialization, since at that point when they're using their preferred fit they're just as effective as the guy who has every skill in the game trained to level 5. That's how eve works. You start off as a weak little noobship pilot but with a couple months of focused training you could fly frigates or destroyers just as effectively as any veteran can. Once you're at that point the active SP will feel more like a bonus that gets you toys you might play with once in a while.
The tutorials should probably direct people to play around with lots of different militia gear to find what they like, and then specialize in that to start. If you train a little bit of a lot of things you're going to feel like you're being left behind. |

I agree with the author. I think when people requested a daily cap, I think they believed they'd accrue more SP but the max SP is basically the same as it was and now the game is a pain. At least weekly, you could get to your cap at your leisure and make up time if necessary. Now if you don't play, you are falling behind everyone else who is playing. This really is limiting players as not everyone can play everyday. I know my wife is getting tired of me trying to find time for this daily. |

Been suggested many times, but I can't harp on it enough, SP rollover... come on CCP! Keep the system how it is now (hard cap at the same values) but make it so whatever you don't earn gets rolled over to the next day. Then each week on a certain day, that rollover pool gets reset. Rinse and repeat.
That way the daily cap is stills set in place for those that do play everyday, but if somebody didn't play every day, then they could make up for it by grinding a lot on another day that has all the accumulated SP from previous days.
Win-win. |

pool should not be reset tbh what if someone had to go away on business or ps3 got ylod or some other **** the pool should bank at least 75-90% of the SP we can gain so u dont waste much , my ideal situation...no % at all. In case it was, let me be clear instead of just snarky. If it wasn't, just skip this and understand I agree with the OP.
I do care about the SP cap. That was my point. I really enjoyed the four weeks before the Daily SP cap. I could play one character for a few days at a time then switch to another and then my third. If I wasn't up to all three one could sit it out as he was far enough along. I hadn't decided where direction I wanted that character to go. But it could be dreary. Very dreary when the rewards started dropping to 800 SP with an Active booster.
Now it seriously is like a job. My problem is that I am indeed retired and I actually liked my OLD job. And I like the memory of my job better than what Dust has recently become with the silly cap. I do not understand what they think they can accomplish with this direction. It is not a good MMO. It is a very poor RPG. Possibly even lousy. I do enjoy the shooter portion, but I am not the right person to judge about multi-player FPS in general. Dust's version with Squad Leaders and Corps seems cool but everything is so horribly expensive and slow. Slow to get SP. Slow to make progress. Once a character gets to higher levels than progress can be slow in any RPG. But nobody is at a higher level yet.
Oddly enough there is one good thing about the Daily SP Cap. Getting exactly 50 SP from a Battle means you can decide to continue for ISK or just bag it for the night. Nothing to be gained here. Personally, I switch from Skirmish to Ambush then. Battles are quicker and turn over faster. I don't feel bad bailing on a bad match up. Its just an Ambush on one of those miniature maps, who cares? The Weekly SP Cap was worse because you felt great with fantastic rewards. You were improving day by day. But getting fewer and fewer rewards. And feeling less interested until the Tuesday Weekly Cap Reset.
The reality of this direction is that playing Dust514 since the Daily SP Cap is just constantly disheartening. By the weekend (before Daily SP Cap) I was finished with playing and it was cool. Now, you never feel like you get rewarded.
I am only sticking it out to see what happens on the 22nd and the week immediately after. To watch what the Devs post and see if there is any chance they can salvage this. I have no idea. Before the Daily SP Cap I had enormous belief they were building something good. Now, not so much. It is not very much fun nor rewarding. The RPG portion is just horrible. I have trouble trying to guess how they could screw this up worse than they have managed so far.
Plus I have to stay to see how badly they are going to nuke the Heavies.
If you are still with me Sobriety did I make my point clear? |

well I try to take it that series since the gaming industry likes gamers to creat gamers, if you know what makes a good game it helps (school helps more but I aint ignoring any extra I can get!). by participating in betas it could help get you a job rather then the company putting you as game tester (about 50k salery if I remember correctly), instead you COULD go right to game designer (thats what I`m working for, ever since I was a kid I`ve enjoyed making game mechanics and storys) wich is about 20-30k higher (note some low salerys for the same job go down to 30k ish, i`m listing the near tops). |

Eh, for me I've become such a casual gamer that it doesn't bother me at all. I can see how it would bother the type that games 2+ hours day however. Usually by the time I hit SP cap I'm ready to call it good anyway, or I play a few matches and get 85 SP or w/e per match and honestly I don't care about that, I'm more into getting used to the game, the maps, and the sensitivity. My aim is trash now but its been improving quickly, I'm more focused on getting better at the game than I am gaining SP honestly.
It's actually kind of nice to know that I can stop playing around the time I feel like it and not fall behind on SP. Just wish it was weekly cap instead of daily, but I doubt that will change because of how EVE is.
Gotta say I'm impressed by this build, my only real complaint is that the grenades fuse is too short. I still expect much more come the 22nd however, if CCP actually expects people to take this game seriously. |
