Its unoptimized and really buggy
Plus its just randoms in a game, its like a giant public match really and when you wake up you have lost what you fought for

I prefer Dust, people say dust is confusing to start off but playing PS2 i had no clue. Apart from that i wasnt that impressed, i had loads of bugs with the installation and running of it . and the actual game play was average |

It's a giant sandbox but a shallow one. Dust can become a kitty litter box through which you can dig a tunnel to china. |

DUST is meant to eventually have meaning combat where battles affect other players. PS2 has no meaning to its combat, you can fight in the same place for 5 hours straight and it can be fun, but once you and your outfit are offline, the randoms will lose that place you held for so long and you'll get pushed back again. Theres also the fact theres no reason to actually "win". And then theres the whole, if you're losing just switch to an alt and fight on a different continent, it's dull and boring. |

Planetside 2 is far better than Dust, sorry guys. Player count, graphically, it plays in real time with a day/night cycle just to name a few. It's an ongoing battle that never ends unlike dust where you jump into a twenty minute fight where you get stomped on, or spawn trap the enemy. As far as bugs, don't even try to say that Dust wasn't just awful when we started playing. Everything has bugs when it first comes out. I do have high hopes for Dust and can't wait to see the improvements that are implemented over time. |

Planetside 2 is a failure of epic proportions. Played it, gave it a chance, didn't like it, deleted it (and so did a lot of others) |

i can imagine SOE tried to "evolve" planetside like the trend is now a days with every game remade, so the casuals, noobs and reetaards can feel good about themselves while everyone else suffers and is forced to play a dumbed down version of a classic game so the morons aka "expanded target audience" who never were that into gaming in the 1rst place can feel good about themselves |

Well Dust has every right to be like planetside2. The thing is with planetside 2 it's only on PC. Dust is on ps3. By far no console- either it's 360 or ps3 can't support over thousands of players on one map at a time. I never played planetside2 so I'm not sure about player count. Look at BF3 it's incredible graphics. It's 60 players on pc. On ps3 and 360 it's only 24 players a map.
Dust is on outdated console and ccp is just squeezing 40 something players on dust 514 when the final release comes. Hopefully you get my point. |

Except Dust is already past PS2 in affecting another game or universe. On a completely different system. How many games have PC and consoles connected into one basically. And by affecting I'm talking FW. |

I've played Planetside 2 and it just doesn't excite me. Fighting over terrain on a huge map is a brilliant technical feat but they do a poor job of making new players understand how it is done or make it ever feel like you have accomplished something. Plus the skill system is painfully slow.
While I feel Dust hasn't delivered the goods promised, I actually play Dust. |

I do have high hopes for Dust and can't wait to see the improvements that are implemented over time. It feels buggy and old and way to big. It looks terrible, ther eis just something.... old about the graphics. Like large empty areas with plop building. It's not very good environment art. I know dust for some reason seems to have lost all the maps that were based around eve racial buildings. Becuase I know ccp has mental issues or something. But trust me communications for instance looked great. The ammar maps are going to be cool, dust just looks better than PS2. There is more to it. I was expecting borderlands 2 quality, instead the terrain feels like a video game from 1995. |

Smaller maps are needed. 128v128 is a really good number for what feels like a large battle. With long range dropship runs and muliple bases to fight over, Fun LAV runs where after burns are useful. 60 minute matches. But 1000v1000 just isn't .... fun. It takes a long time to get to anything and nothing ever really feels like you are having an effect. World of tanks does a better job of making you feel like your taking over the globe. The World war map is great. Corps battle out over maps that are places from those areas.
So when you fight in Russia you fight in Russia.
People earn a sense of ownership. I hope FW is like that soon. With terrain and different districts having different types of buildings so a fight over the same place is the same map. But every map is slightly different based on planet type and time of day. World of tanks can do it dust can do it. And it's ok if the terrian is long term just bringing in more art , like attacking an ammar planet there should be ammar buildings.
I think dust is going to work. |

The bugginess/etc difference between Dust and Planetside 2 isn't worth commenting on. Both Dust and PS2 have performance issues, have bugs, have stuff that needs to be fixed via rebalancing. Neither game strikes me as any better balanced, less buggy, more optimized. And certainly Planetside 2 has handled the issue of snipers in big, open maps far, far better than Dust has. Snipers in Planetside 2 shoot bullets that have to travel to their targets, which drop over time, and the scope of their rifle always sways unless you use a "hold breath" button that gives you a couple seconds of steady aim. Snipers in Planetside 2 are a valuable addition to the game, but they don't dominate fights. Unlike in Dust.
The games are totally different in terms of how they play. They cater to different tastes. I like Planetside 2, but I like Dust's depth and detail more. I like when death has consequence, I like fights which are scaled such that my actions actually make a difference. In Planetside, being one guy in an army of 600 people means you kind of fade into obscurity. You can't really hope to make much of an impact yourself.
The lack of any end-game isn't really a sensible comparison. Dust has no end game either. Eventually it will, but eventually Planetside 2 will have outfits building bases and going to war with each other over resources and stuff. Comparing how Dust will be in a year to how Planetside is right now isn't very fair. |

Planetside 2 does not offer anything I really want. Besides it is terrible for glitchers and hackers from what I hear.
Its just a basic FPS with a bunch of people, and nothing fulfilling to do.
DUST 514 on the other hand will be offering what I want, and doing it with some real depth. It may not seem that way yet, but it will as it further connects to EVE. |

The glitches aren't bad and the hacking doesn't prevent you from playing the game normally. Maybe once a week you'll get wiped out by some guy hacking, but they're active in banning such people, and you just respawn (nothing is lost on death) and continue playing when it does happen. |

It all comes down to appeal, if you dont play Eve than planet side 2 appeals more to you than Dust. If you do play Eve than Dust has far more potential then planet side 2.
Skirmish is not going to drag BF3 players away from BF3, I wish it did. Ambush is not going to drag COD players away from Blops2, i wish it did.
but on the other hand if you told them you could then play both modes together with 1999 other players that SOE is selling well . Where CCP keeps trying to sell Eve to people that dont play Eve or own a computer with the market and Eve space changing. Non of the reviews on Dust ever say the concept is crap, just their not sure what it offers to the player that doesnt play Eve on the PS3 mostly.

I hope so, with open beta next week. It really sounds pretty off to me that a company would go open beta with 80% of its game missing when even its player base saids the game is not strong enough to go open beta but we will see. I hope 80% percent does get added because the game cant feel like a mini game add on to Eve but more as a independent game to non Eve players. |

It's so annoying that everybody thinks thinks or expects this open beta to have so much features. It's clearly still in beta. Not final. |

I would say Planetside 2 is A LOT prettier than Dust, but has a short-sighted future. Hence the fact it is a sequel.
Dust 514 has been designed to outlast the technology. If and when CCP upgrade their platform to Unreal Engine 4 for the PS4 and then continue to add gameplay updates, new equipment and expand New Eden, Dust 514 will show who the winner is. CCP is more patient than most of their customers. And funnily enough, those customers come right back.
Just look at Eve... |
