I love seeing my squad go positive then seeing the rest of the team go so negative.
I'm tired of seeing them go 0-18 1-12 2-9 on my team. Let them be on the enemy team.
And don't come in saying go to team chat. Because nobody is ever in there, and if they are they are total idiots, because I check.
I'm going to start by saying it's 2013 and 4 man parties are a joke. They have never worked in Battlefield and have always been a complaint about the series. When i'm looking to play a game, I'm trying to play with more than 3 friends. Call of Duty handles pub matches perfectly. If you don't have friends you're supposed to go play free for all, or mercenary. There's absolutely no reason as to why groups or clans should be forced to play with the special players that really don't know how to play, or have the desire or wherewithal to play as a team and win a match. Nobody should have to camp clutch and carry in pub matches. CCP needs to simply make a mercenary playlist that creates randomized teams if people don't have friends to play with. BTW to the players that are going to say this will split the player base. "F-U" This game will never be competitive as long as randoms are playing in the same pub matches and organized groups of players.
You had me agreeing with you right up to the point where you attacked people who haven't even disagreed with you yet... wow.

Omnipotent Zitro wrote:Some great idea guys. But let's not limit our selves.
I think we shouldn't be limit to just our corp to Q-Sync. We should be allowed to Q-Sync with alliance, allies, or any other corp for that matter. There can be contracts for corps who are not Allies/alliance/friends so they can pay a certain amount of ISK to a corp to Q-Sync. The corp that is paying could do it for:
Seeing what it takes to becomes better. Helps pad there leader board stats. Try's to lost the game purposely to damage the other corps stats
Q-Syncing is not just for pub stomping. So much more can come from it.
Also we are going to get a ton of new gamers when open beta arrives. I for one can say a lot of players would want to play with there friends, even if they get pubstomp. You know why? Because they enjoy there friends company.
Squad of 4 sucks. Everybody knows this
There could be a skill to level up that increases squad count. With it, it could make the defend order radius effect larger with each level.
There could be a skill to Q-Sync that increases the number of squad you can Q-Sync with. Maybe also the skill at first only allows corp mates, then you will have to level it up if anybody wants to Q-Sync with Alliance and so forth.
Just some ideas I just thought of. CCP can do so much.
But I say the easiest one to implements is to make matchmaking the same but limit high end rewards. Make them even harder to get now. Like a Super Epic rare loot drop. Then have a mercenary gametype that has Q-Sync where the rewards are higher and the loot is better and a little easier to come upon on.
Dust needs risk and reward. Right now we hardly have any.
Matchmaking right now is highsec. Put in mercenary matches with Q-Sync and that can become Low-Sec. In sense making the game more risk vs reward. Do you risk facing a team of SI,SyN,STB,PFBH,IMPS and so on to get more ISK and better loot? It also will simulate bigger and non official corp battles that will help the community get better.
Or do you keep it safe and only do Matchmaking with your squad?
Well written and thought out, though I am still undecided. My concern for public matches is that you turn them into a corp battle vs randoms and the effect is an increase in redlining like we saw a few builds ago. CCP did a great job in reducing the number of redlines that happen by fixing the spawns. I worry that this will increase the redlines. Convince me it won't and I might agree with you. |

Icy Tiger wrote:Ok here is my idea for the loot. In the Merc battles, only the winning side gets loot, but it's better loot, maybe even AUR loot.
If I'm not mistaken, the current loot system is temporary; I think the loot should be based on what you kill in game. If I snaked a kill on Omni running a protosuit (because I can't kill him straight up lol) then I would like to see a chance to loot something he had fit. The percentage of chance, I don't know how to calculate. For example, if I kill a random starter with BPO militia, I get nothing because they are all non-consumable. But with Zitro, maybe his duvolle didnt explode when I him him with the Forge? |

WIll have to go through and read the rest of this thread some time.
Mercenary battles should allow you to deplow as an entire team.
For all the reasons listed in this thread corporations should be able to deploy as a full team as soon as possible. If that option were available before open beta all the better. It would be great if, after chosing a mercenary battle, your team would deploy as soon as a minimum number of spots were filled for both sides. And not by appointment. Who fights a war by appointment, anyway? But mercenary battles should also allow teams to battle in uneven numbers. Say minimum 8 players, maximum 12. That way there is more room to take risks (think you are good and only have 8 players ready to go, shy not you can take 12 from any other corp) and prove your mettle, less waiting.
There should be a team leader position.
The team leader can have a way to form a team so that the team leader can go in to a mercenary battle with all of the squads on the team. Just like a squad leader can go in to the pub matches with all squad members.
Individual players should still be able to take contracts in mercenary battles.
If case there are any open spots where corporations have fielded incomplete teams daring mercs should have the chance to risk their ISK and fittings in mercenary battles. These ballsy players should just be prepared to get their faces shot off or yelled at in tea chat if they let the side down. But individuals shouldn't be locked out of these battles just because corporations want to play together. If there's room, let them in. No hand holding.
Team composition should be dynamic.
A corporation should be able to compose their team of say, 3 squads of 4 max players or 2 squads of 6 max players. Squad size should at least allow for 6 for mercenary battles since that fits the vehicles better, a squad of six can run two tanks, a tank and an truck, two trucks or one dropship more effectively than squads of 4 divide into vehicles with 3 seats. But you should still be able to deploy without filling up your squad as you can in pub matches.
We should make some SP from these battles.
I would like to see a different SP earnings system for Mercenary battles. Maybe no hard cap at all but a lower payout per match. This should help encourage players to give up curb stomping. Unlike corporation battles you should not be able to fix it so you fight a friendly corp and can do things like sp boosting.
Edit* Loot.
As has been pointed out above, loot should be based off of what was lost in the actual battle that was fought. That would give new players that think they are good a chance to go into mercenary battles, curb stomp the beta vets, and steal their stuff. Not that they could use it. But they could save it or sell it. Where do the random drops come from? Rift in the space time continuum? It never made sense to me that DUST 514 should have come up with this elaborate back story to give some reasonable explanation (kind of brilliant though) for how it is possible to constantly re-spawn in an FPS, then institute a random drop system where officer gear just somehow magically appears on the battle field at the end of a match. |

I don't think the squad sizes should increase until we get 24vs24, at which point they should allow 6 man squads. wrong-o try going against a decent 12 -16 people with only a squad of 4 with the type of squads we run, every person could get 20+ kills and everyone on our team from 5th down to 16th gets below 2-3 kills sometimes its just not enough And the odds are that half of those other decent players will also be on your team half of the time. You can't expect to win every game. |

the second open beta hits you should put squads in their own matches and individuals into other matches. Then in squad matches you could allow for platoons with how ever many squads they want because it will be relatively well balanced. That way new guys still get a play to learn the tactics with out getting stomped by a well coordinated squad, and corps can play with up to 16 people at a time, because lets admit it most corp battles are not being run by every member of a corp(Im not saying they should be when moneys and bragging rights are on the line it should be the best players). |

How about
Match room servers of 16 vs 16 that only allows 4 man squads to enter. And you choose your side.
Sort of like the corp battles any amount of players can enter on one side. If you do not have 16 players for your side any blueberry may fill in allowing the brave a chance to get in with organized corps if they are short a player or two.
A list like the servers we used to have were you could choose the corp to battle.
Also a blind anything goes server with rapid load in times of only 4- 8 man squads for still 16 vs.16 allowing some crazy 4 stacked corps to work together... or not |

Here's an idea (but would require a much more significant player-base to pull off).
Allow for full team squad numbers, meaning if it's 16v16, then that means you have the potential to stack up to 16 people on a single side.
But here's the kick, the size of your squad would determine what match you will end up in.
So say if you have 2-4 players, then matchmaking would throw you in a match with other players who have 2-4 player squads.
If you have 5-8 players, then that means matchmaking will throw you in a match with other players who have 5-8 man squads.
If you have 9-12 players, then matchmaking would throw you in a match with other players who have 9-12 member squads.
etc etc etc
Also if you simply join a match by yourself, then that means matchmaking will throw you in a match where there is no squads.
This would require a pretty sizable and active player-base, but would keep teams from horribly unbalancing matches by stacking their team against randoms. As this was one of the biggest problems with the COD games when I used to play (and before mercenary mode was added). Clans would stack teams against 100% randoms and it was grossly unbalanced.

I agree with Aighun, we need to be able to form an entire team and launch into a battle with that asap and fight against another organized team. Corporation battles are fun, but they take forever to get going and don't give any SP. Once you've assembled your squads you have to find a contract, then wait 20 minutes and hope someone picks up the other side of the contract. Then you wait *another* 10 minutes. By the time the battle is done it could easily have taken more than an hour.
Something else I'd like to see is battle matcher awareness of squad size. Right now it isn't unusual for us to put a squad together and get dropped into a match where there are no more than two people from the same corporation. When that happens we beat the hell out of the other team. Then sometimes we get dropped into a match where we have our squad of 4 and a pile of randoms, but the other team has 2 or 3 full squads of people from the same corporation. When that happens you know right from the start that you're going to lose, and likely get redlined in the process. The matcher should accept the squad leader's battle request, note the size of his squad and then try to put him in a game with other full squads. It should also try to balance the teams, so that there are a similar number of squads that existed prior to the battle starting on each side. This would do a lot to reduce the amount of uneven fights. The whole team battle could use the same matching system, all you'd need to add is the ability for a squad leader to start a team prior to launching a game and invite other squad leaders into it. |
