Tony Calif and I tried to set up a corp battle between PFBHz and Seraphim with the intent on testing orbitals but due to TZ conflicts we couldn't get it done.
I decided to get a few ROFL pilots on SiSi along with a mixed group of our mercs and we set up a small contract or two just to see the orbitals in action from both sides.
Kane Spero from Imperfects tagged along as did Daniel Jackson of Planet Watchers. Newly manufactured Tactical ammo was passed out to the capsuleers and we proceeded to enjoy the fireworks from orbit and the destruction below.
**Many Bolas died for this intel
We tested all three ammo types: Tactical EMP S, Tactical Hybrid S, Tactical Laser S
Visuals -
EvE side - There wasn't much to see. No animations from turrets from a 3rd party perspective and no fire in the sky as the strike was underway. You can see the conflict below in the form of small explosions on the field and when the strike hit there was a noticeable large explosion within the district on the planet surface.
Dust 514 side - Much larger radius than the MCC precision and the different types of ammunition have notably different effects on the surface.
EM - Large shower of rounds over a huge area producing what looks like electricity filled bubbles everywhere. Hybrid - Very similar to the current MCC precision but over a much larger area Laser - Smaller AOE with big red/orange lazor beams
Damage results-
Without a doubt, all orbital strike variants were much more powerful. EM was noticeably weaker than Laser or Hybrid but did shred all shields in proximity and still very deadly to troops.
Both Laser and Hybrid decimated everything with laser being a bit more concentrated over smaller area. Tanks and LAV's go pop and troops are incinerated. After a few tanks went pop we moved on to CRU's. Numeric results from EvE side battle logs below:
Edited to update with more combat logs. Thanks Daniel !!!!!!

There was no latency with the timing of the strikes. They rain down just as fast as the MCC Precision Strikes.
Can't wait to see these used in battles and there is some serious escalation potential in space for the capsuleers. |

for as far as visuals go, you need to be connected to the planet in order to see any of the visuals
Lasers: a red beam shooting down to the planet (even if grouped they eventually split up in to each of the turrets that u have when entering closer to the surface) once they hit you can see white explosions
Hybrids: u can see it travel to the surface and they have a more medium size bubble explosion
Projectiles: you can see a bunch of bullets begin shot to the planet and they have HUGE sized blue bubble explosions
as far as latency goes, it seemed like it took a little bit from when the strike request was requested to the time it took for us eve players to see it, like 1 time the guy called in a strike and half a minute later the match for them was over but the strike request just got to us eve players |

Grouped weapons are just to make things easier for the servers to deal with massive amounts of players firing at the same time. They are separate but grouped for better server speeds :) |

There is a chance of a longer wait with the actual strikes, we had Laz called in one and EVE side wasn't sure if we wanted to test a certain ammo type so one strike did take a bit longer then a War Barge strike.
Overall, was a pain to get it set up right with 24 hour timers and non updated standings etc. from the months old mirror on SiSi.
Finally get it all set up and was a blast. Liked the animations and gives a much more diverse reaction to getting an orbital and not able to control which ammo the pilot has without being in comms with them.. That gives pilots the potential to troll dust players like crazy, haha. Need lazor strike to kill that CRU? LOL, how about EMP? |

With 12000 damage being applied to Gunlogis we can defo say that a Sagaris would die just as quick
As for ammo types sounds about right and the lazer one does sound awesome to watch tbh |

The in-game effect is substantially different and badass as well. |

Lol the gunnlogi in the logs cost about 900,000.
It had 10800 shielding and around 1200 armor. I lost three of them to each orbital ammo type. Was good testing but very expensive. |

Great post Jaiden. Just wish I had been in faction warfare during the test so I could have fired off some shots from the Moros.
I'll be doing some large batches of all three types of ammo.

I think EMPs would be better if they shut down vehicles for a little bit. Just imagine dropships falling from the sky. |

Exactly
The key to setting this up is to pay attention to the system you select for the Corp Battle and which faction you are fighting for, as you will need your EvE pilot to be in that Fac War Militia on SiSi. You also want to be able to relay the location of the battle to the pilot as soon as you set up the contract or accept it. This will give your pilot plenty of time to get in position over the district.
Thanks again to everyone who helped make this happen. It was very cool to see people from different corps / alliances willing to work together for the benefit of testing.
On a side note - The War Points earned by the squad leader during testing....ridiculous |

Kane Spero EVE-side. Its very easy to join FW as needed in sisi to do the testing. Only have to worry about your standings with each faction. You can solo join and leave each one as needed |

Did u try t1 guns? Would be interesting to see if there is a damage difference.
Also does just one gun fire? Or is it the group? Does differently grouped weapons cause damage difference?
Does turret type matter? 150mm vs 200mm. Autos vs atri or blasters vs rails?
Just future testing ideas.
no love for missles? Boo. |

T1 Hybrids used for EM testing and results are in the logs I just added.
Emjay'B or Daniel would have to reply with regard to the grouped vs individual turret difference. My pilot couldn't join FW immediately due to the current SiSi mirror so I was just observing from space while I had boots on the ground.
Would have been nice to see the bombardment animations, 3rd party perspective, from the ships firing the barrage.

So do we think the damages would be higher for em if t2 guns were used? You would hope so, but might not be In the coding yet.
Interested to see further tests. real interested with differences in long vs short range guns.
Also wouldn't u think lasers would be doing the em damage? Considering that how it is in eve for the most part. |

Used an arty thrasher with t1 guns, put one strike down with grouped weapons, and put a strike down with ungrouped weapons and didn't see much of a change in damage between the two.
tried to put one more strike in before the end of the match with more of an interval between activating weapons, and got to my fourth gun activating before the strike request disappeared in space.

Obviously its the same because its the same number of weapons firing |
