I'm glad this game is still under development. There are so much hype for this game. When I first played the first beta version, I was disappointed, then it improved overtime. Also, it's free a game. YAY!
For now, I'm taking a break. I'll wait for the next build. For now, Ghost Recon future Soldier, Mk9, LocoRoco, LBP2, Playstation All star, MAG, Ac3, etc. |

That's the build number. Codex (the one we are currently in) is Version 0.6. You can see this in the log in screen. |

Unfortunately not. We are currently build version 0.6, so 0.7 is accurate.
Edit: however, the version 1.0 you mention will be the release build. There are 2 more builds after this new one (0.8, 0.9, 1.0) |

Laurent Cazaderon wrote:So, like all of you i red the patchnotes this morning with unconcealed joy. And boy was i disappointed.... I'll stop you right now, i knew this build was about fixing the game more than adding stuff to it but even on that matter, i just dont see much going on. For the record, the PERFORMANCE section has.... one line. Makes sense for a technical fix oriented build.... => No reference to lag => No reference to micro-freeze => No reference to any enhancement in infantry physic model (wall of glass, collision, etc...) => No reference to timeout error => No reference to hard freeze when battle starts => No reference to long long loading time of contact list (unless the "- Optimized non-battle related networking connections" is about that) => No reference to fixing lasers (lack of over-heat on advanced, proto ; range evolution through sharpshooter) => No reference to spawning mechanics enhancement Yet, we get stuff such as : Quote: - Added HMG 'Doom mode'- a new gun camera firing position - Lowered HMG zoom FOV from 65 to 60 degrees - Increased HMG zoom speed by 0.2 seconds - Reduced Burst HMG fire interval
=> How in hell is that usefull ? or even remotely needed at this time ? What about breach AR then ? And SMG ? getting just a decrease in recoil ? What about range ? Guess it's all about heavies love... also : Quote:- Reduced the damage gap between Standard, Advanced, and Prototype tiers of all handheld weapons Is that serious ? People already play most of the time with militia shotgun, or AR or anything because the difference isnt that big when using damagers. they're actually reducing the gap even MORE. I dont see how that's a progression in gameplay really.... Imo, it's another way to catter, once more, to crybabies. Soon, there'll be no difference between any tier of module\weapon except for their PG\CPU consumption..... And it seems like a very weird decision to make in a build supposed to be fixing things.. I'm not very confident for this coming build... I'll wait and see till i get to actually play it.. But i have a very bad vibe about it. Yet, kudos on fixing the grenade animation, and improving swarm launchers. Even though, it wont be enough imo.
This may be crazy, but how about you actually play the build before crying like bitches? Moar tears... |

I have to ROFL at all of these comments. This update is the performance update, fixes to all of the issues we the beta testers told them to fix and much more. There is a few new things added, but really this is about fine tuning the game.
Also this is a beta update not a live game update. These are not supposed to be huge updates, those are saved for when the game drops.
Even if this was a live game update, its still fixes to many of the problems we the players have complained about, like the Internal error.
Anything that makes the game run smoother, helps the gun game, fixes to equipment and/or gear is a step in the right direction.
I feel sorry for all of you that expected another 50 new weapons, 10 new maps.. this update was not meant for those.
+1 CCP for fixing issues, instead of adding more issues on top of the ones you have. |

Well I'm not a fan of the proto cost either, but the suits really do offer you a giant leg up if you fit them and play them right. Like in EVE, don't fly what you can't afford to lose. If you're any good, the increase in ISK gains will help you field them that much more often.

Do you know anyone who doesn't farm all day who could afford to run proto more then a few times a day?
The price doesn't make it so "if you can't afford don't use." It's a lot closer to "Never use cause you'll never afford."
This isn't some minor bug - it's a major issue for heavies who want to play well against people who take this game seriously. As it is, if I don't wield an HMG, i'm close to fodder to anyone in proto gear. |

Incorrect. Had an interview with CCP Cmdr_Wang and CCP Pokethulu a while back and they confirmed this and Amarrian/Minmatar vehicles/turrets for 2013. We're at version 0.7 - we've still got three more builds to go before we even think about release.
Ill counter confirm.
IRC discussion further states that racial symetry will not be in by launch but an eventual goal POST LAUNCH.
Which is why there is only caldari and gallente vehicles for now.
Remember eve online beta only started with two races, amarr and the caldari. the classes of ships back then where the battleship, cruiser and frigate, not even shuttles existed back then. 2 battleships 3 frigates and 3 cruisers i think was the tally. |

I like a lot of what's been included in this patch.
It is a beta and I'd rather they experiment now than mess it up at at launch. I am a little disappointed that there is no further corp management development but you can't have everything.
What does concern me is the pace of these patches and that there is still no tangible link between Eve and Dust for us to test on both clients. I know the CSM were pushing for more detail about Dust at last weeks summit because they don't really know anymore than we do.
CCP said that by Fanfest 2013 they wanted the biggest gaming universe in the universe. Hilmar said that on stage at Harpa. I was 20 feet away when he said it.
Just over 4 months till April 25th. Who here, hand on heart can say that they believe that will be the case? |

Yes because in previous builds things they said were fixed worked right
People like laurent are posting because they know the track record of previuos builds and there fixes.
But again most are to quick to jump to the defence of ccp, it's better to be critical and be wrong than just agree and end up with a crap game. |

Maybe we waited 2+ months for these fixes to actually work like they are supposed to. As supposed to them saying okay they are fixed. Oh wait no they are not.
On notes to laurent with the breach and SMG not getting range these are CQC weapons why do they need an increase in range. Not trolling asking why in a serious manner to see why you wanted it increased. |

range or general adjustments as those weapon are pretty much useless at the moment. Dont think i got killed by any of those two in 2 month worth of playing. And when i see 5-¦ change in zoom for HMG i can't help mysefl thinking there were higher priorities.
Once again, i'm not mad about not having new stuff. In fact i'm not mad at all. I just wonder why this patchnotes isnt more focused on problems solved.
Codex had an intro saying many bugs and other problems were fixed in addition to the rest of the patchnotes. Precursor had a detailled troubleshooting section. And as i, like CCP, expect the game to run smoothly before seeing new features, i'm afraid this patchnotes mirrors the fact that some issues arent fixed at all.
But as i said. This is statement on the patchnotes, not the build. I'll judge it in time. |

Was agreeing with you that they tried to fix stuff and failed in the past, but those were an attempt at quick fixes and they failed. These fixes we have waited for a while now, and they might actually work out since they have been on them for a while now. |

the incredible fanboyism astounds me.
The man is raising some legitamite questions in list form, not screaming and crying he didint get want he wants.
He merely stated he is disappointed, and yet everyone jumps on to bash him...
The "Can I haz ur stuffz" crowd is becoming a bandwagon, its the new in vogue thing to act patient...
He isnt being stupid or immature. Laurent just looked at the patch notes and made some observations.
He even said he will wait to play it before his final judgement of the patch...
Gosh, its like a man can't make any critisiscm without being stomped on...

Yeah the patchnotes are either incomplete or not what 'we' (I) expected. I'm with Caz that there are still too many things untouched if these patchnotes are ALL there is. (which we'll know upon implementation...)
I will just wait and see for myself once I played the new build and judge from there. All i know is that we're still months from official launch thus CCP still has time to right their wrongs.
BTW -1 to all the nonsense responses (just to stay very very polite...) to a thread that for once really has it place in a BETA forum. I always thought BETA was to give opinions on the current gameplay/build and where it should go... as this thread does perfectly.
But if some of you prefere to you go back to your "this is OP and that is OP threads then please do so.... |
