The console game is not the part that matters here. They made it as a console game to get fresh blood in new eden. To help expand the customer base to people that do not normally play pc games. And if they did then they would not mess with EvE. If they had put it on PC only then eve players would have been generally the ones on it. And I get it. You want an alien race that is animal like. Something like a lot of sci-fi has. Well it just so happens that it's not in lore. And they will not do a dlc for few thousand people. Definitely not with a small employee base and figuring in costs. They do MMO work. Not single player offline stuff. They are not a super rich company. They have one game out. EvE. That's their golden calve. And like I said. They have plans on where the storyline is going. |

Oh my ******* god. Really? You think just because the game is in a console suddenly your idea matters more? The console platform has no bearing on the established backstory of the New Eden universe. Again, you are asking CCP to change the lore that effects both games at once.
In Eve Online there are five races (all human): Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar, and Jovians.
In Dust 514 there are five races (all human): Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar, and Jovians.
In both games, we have no access to the Jovian race and their star systems because they are known as a very isolated race because they have tampered with genetic manipulation so much that they now suffer a condition that makes them depressed and commit suicide.
Both games share the same storyline. The empires in Eve Online discover an ancient technology that enables the creation of immortal soldiers that you and I know as Dust mercenaries that participate in Mordu's Private Trials as well as that hosted by the Ishukone corporation which invaded Intaki 5 - moon 14 (hint).
Both games access the same server and the same galaxy (you and I know it as New Eden). As you can see, being made in a console platform or PC platform has no bearing on storyline development. It never did, and never will. The storyline is dictated by CCP and CCP alone and has been running like that for nine years straight.
Do you have any idea how much careful planning it took to put together such an intricate storyline that spans years and two novels? No, you do not. I don't care if you wrote sci-fi stories before. Your stories cannot possibly compare to the complexity and progressive development of New Eden's storyline that also effects the players as a whole. |

no it wont because the story lines I write and follow are written by one person and dont have a team of developers and game designers sitting behind me, regardless cool your jets bro first off. it was a suggestion. you know (Request).
Also, thats a waste of a race if all they do is commit suicide due to gene manipulation, pointless fluff and filler right there.
and regardless of being nine years long, things can be slowly brought in like everything else has. its all how you write and work something, if you actually sat and thought for a second.

1. They don't just commit suicide. The Jovians are also the most technologically advanced race in the cluster as they were the ones that created POD technology that Eve Online player utilize as well as possible mastery of wormhole technology. They also specialize in information warfare which enabled them to kick the Amarrians off their turf even if they were outnumbered and outclassed by the biggest and oldest empire in the cluster. It was such a humiliating defeat that it began a chain of events that led to the revolt by the Minmatar who were enslaved by the Amarrians.
2. Again, CCP has to consider whether or not it is worth it to alienate a large player base that may not like your idea just to appease a small minority of players who may like it. They are a business after all and have to factor in the possible loss of revenue.
3. Octavian is right. CCP has already made up their mind on where the story will go. If you are so dead set on pushing this idea of yours, why don't you apply for a job at CCP? They have an office in Atlanta, Georgia as well as one in Iceland and in Shanghai, China if you are willing to relocate.
4. You may claim that you are not trying to shove this down our thoats, but the way you respond to some of our constructive criticism in the last 7 pages clearly shows that you really are determined to shove this idea of yours down our throats. If you can't accept criticism at all even after I provided constructive criticism with a detailed explanation as to why, then you are not going to get far in your career as a writer.
I suggest you drop this now and back off gracefully while you still can. I know I would. |

ok this is just in reponse to # 2, I keep saying it can be optional marketplace DLC, wouldnt affect that much and would just pile onto what would be already there. so in a sense, people who dont want it would just not get it and it wouldnt really alienate a player base at all that is where you are wrong, cause they only way to make it actually work is to make it a side download. You know you get where im going.
#4 Yeah your right, I cant accept criticism when its nothing but hate.
# 3) Why so I can just get my idea rejected spend all this money just to see if it works? Id love to work for CCP, I have lots of great Ideas that are human related.
and any other number after this IDK, I cant count, drop it, how about you just stop commenting if you dont like the thread, kay? I have a right to continue on as I see fit and as forum rules go you have a right to respect my posts, but since its been nothing but disrespect and nonconstructive criticism from others and mostly just plain old stupid criticism. IDK where to go from here OH Um I can keep chugging along as I want. thanks have a nice day and dont breath too hard, theirs some canine dander in the hair thats floating right near your windpipe. |

#2: DLC as an optional download is not part of CCP's design philosophy. Once they create content, they release it as an entire expansion that effects all servers and consequently everyone else. Eve Online never had optional DLC and neither has Dust 514. Besides, you still have to log into the servers to play. You need to understand how CCP operates and what their philosophy is. CCP never said anything about any possible side downloads anywhere in the foreseeable future. Everything they release will effect everyone... no exceptions. We are in one universe // one war // one sandbox. The actions of one MUST effect the other.
#4: Not much hate from me actually. Much of what I posted was constructive criticism. The rest were just a mixed bag from other posters who speak for themselves (I have no control on what they post). Overall I wouldn't mind your idea being implemented in other games like maybe World of Warcraft or Guild Wars and such. Or maybe even Stargate Universe (is that still going on?) since their storyline involves an unseen race known as the Furlings who were allies with the Asgard, Ancients, and the Knox. But not in Dust 514 or anywhere near New Eden. It's an entirely different beast from the rest. Again, I don't mind your idea. I just don't see it happening or working out in Dust given what I said in #2.
PS: I can continue this all day or all week for all I care. Just as you have a right to voice your opinions and ideas, I have a right to equally criticize if I see something that won't work based on what I know of CCP's philosophies and policies as well as player behavior over the past 6-7 years that I have been observing.
We just have to agree to disagree. I'm sorry that others here have acted like complete jackasses, but they have a right to speak out their minds as well just like you and me. Again, I like your idea, but it won't work in New Eden simply by virtue of how CCP operates.

Stargate Universe MMO got canned in alpha. What bit they showed looked viable though. It also made a lot of supporters mad. |
