Like Quickscoping... Yeah I highly doubt it would ruin to much considering all the other problems we've had to deal with, besides hardly anyone does it |

Alucard Fang wrote:It isn't fun, it's stupid, an exploit, added into games, only COD really because people want to abuse it. This game isn't a militairy simulator, but it's not some arcade game where you can jump spin around in a circle and quick scope. That's not what sniping is and it's a shame COD has done something like that to sniping. Yeah, how long have you been in this beta. Do you know the meaning of an exploit, because I don't think shooting people with my gun is one of them. |

* Heavy with HMG or Forge, full frontal attack. * Logistics, probably with mass driver, moving up behind the heavy (possibly walking backwards quite a bit to keep an eye on the "6") * Assault with AR out on the flank, killing enemies who are too focussed on the heavy * Stealthy scout with SMG and sniper rifle somewhere near by
Most of the time the scout will be getting surprise close-up kills with the SMG. However, when the squad encounters an enemy sniper he'll switch to the sniper rifle and counter-snipe.
Another "on the ground" sniper tactic might be: you've capped B and are moving to C. The scout is keeping an eye on B, and pops any reds who go for the re-cap.
The "in the hills" sniper will be part of the support squad with the tank driver, dropship pilot and dropship gunner.
There was a FPS I used to play... I forget the name, but they implemented a limit on every role. This limitation only allowed a certain number of players to be a Sniper or Assault class for instance. I feel this could solve some of the '5 snipers on a hill' effect people complain about during matches. It worked in that game atleast...
But now that I think of it that could be disastrous.
Dust 514 players spend their SP to effectively use their particular combination of equipment, dropsuits, etc.. It would be frustrating to be a fully-skilled, fully-geared Sniper and join a skirmish only to find you are stuck playing a different loadout due to a cap.
As of now, if players spend their hard earned SP to play as a Sniper then let them play as a Sniper, however that pans out. Until the chat system matures, as mentioned, it makes it difficult to coordinate with the rest of the team about enemy positions or objectives. This renders a sniper useless in the grand scheme of things as they are generally heard, not seen, by design.
It would be nice to see sniper's using a loadout that incorporates some recon or other "on the ground" tactic, as mentioned. Perhaps fitted with those respawn point units (the name escapes me) placed behind enemy lines or some other strategic position, in addition to being skilled in for extra stealth and mobility.
I hope you're right about next year.

Sleepy Zan, I would like to say first that I've had the pleasure of going against you in the past during closed beta and I have the utmost respect for your marksmanship. Im not even going to say your kdr but more towards your average wp per match that I've seen. Your a great at run and gun tactics and your team supports you and you assist them in kind.
Now with that out of the way I have to say Im ashamed of you right now for starting this thread, it's something I would expect out of the influx of our newer players but not from you. No one, not even you have the right to tell anyone how a particular load out should be played. At the moment Im still the best sniper in my corp and I will hill top, front point snipe to keep enemy snipers off my squad mates as the situation dictates. I also run my sniper in assault suits so if sniping goes south I can run in for front line service, If someone enjoys the idea of sitting on a hill top the entire match, do what I know you can do well and shoot them, that's what i do. |

Sleepy Zan wrote:Get off your damn mountain and come and run and gun on the ground Those objectives don't cap themselves and trust me it's way more fun then sitting up there in your lonely nest all match. This isn't going to be a true fps without the quick-scoping guys, so come and join the few that do. I have seen more people running and gunning with the sniper and I say, "kudos to you." But to everyone else, what is better than to use a sniper to out CQC a shotgun or headshot that annoying protosuit guy face to face. I just see to many people being lazy on mountains and it makes me sad that they decide not to use the sniper to its full potential like they do in other games in other games. So come on down and turn this into a real fps ,bring you friends.
*cough* should tell that to your own corpmates *cough* |

At the time I made this thread there was a huge influx of players sniping from horrible positions (a little similar to what I'm seeing now). I'm not saying anyone has to do anything I'm just saying the option is there.
I have seen some of these new guys get some nice shots off on me lately, good times ahead gentlemen |
