You guys are all taking this the wrong way. You all think that CCP is trolling us, which they might. But you have to look a the bigger picture. CCP is doing this for a reason.
CCP loves numbers and data. They love a lot of data! Many players in this build are not AV spec. They need more data to better evaluate the situation to help balance the game.
How do they get more data? By making vehicles dirt cheap to force the players to either spec into vehicles and try it out or getting a forge or swarms(which are useless) to try to take them out. Because most of the player base is infantry AR.
So let's help CCP gather the data they need for the next build.

Fair enough well said, Still the thought of half-price Myron with the air game in it's current state is a scary proposition to this Logi.
Though on the upside I'm all for getting in some dog fights. Maybe rail guns at near point blank range. |

I believe utter shock was my first response to this god awful event. I am all for increasing the baseline ISK rewards, but making vehicles (alone) cheaper is just plain idiotic.
Do you even listen to your community, there are countless threads about how OP missile turrets have become, yet you're making the things that equip them much cheaper. Your basically asking for people to abuse a broken game mechanic... sounds fun o_O.
Furthermore, Why would you not lower the price of the weapons that kill vehicles. With this new event it is even more cost effective to run a tank then Infantry...CHEERS! The one enjoyment of this game, as a infantry player, was that when you saw Sagris blow up, you thought hahahahah "take that one to the bank". However, it would seem that CCP has taken even that enjoyment from me.
Lastly, CCP WHY DO YOU HATE INFANTRY SO MUCH? Why would you not make Dropsuits also cheaper?My most expensive suit cost me 275 000 isk per death. That is like half a tank. However unlike a tank, my suit is hurt by everything: small arm fire, sniper rifles, grenades, precision strikes, Rail guns, missile turrets, blasters, and FORGE GUNS. I guess it was my mistake for skilling up into infantry this build , and not vehicles... My bad :S . My suit might be 1/4 of a tank, but I can guarantee it not worth its weight in isk when compared to a tank.
How to fix the problem?
1.Fix the maps and the missile turrets
2. Scrap the whole event
3. Make AV and drop-suits 50%
CCP Iam tired of you not guys not thinking things through. You refuse to fix missile turrets, yet you decide to make the things that use them cheaper. This beyond idiotic, and is showing how much you listen to you your Community .

No crying here. I switched from logibro to running around in a Gurista's Saga causing as much grief to the enemy team as possible. We will be experimenting with AV fits now, especially with the coming target rich environment. |

For all of you claiming that they need data...valid point, except the data is invalidated by the fact that A. There are no pilot drop suits, B. There is no counter to the Drop Ships, C. The SP cap prevents anyone from catching up to someone already spec'd into Vehicles, D. Running Heavy AV is an ISK loss E. Match making is still putting groups into the queue first and forcing randoms to play above their pay grade, almost preventing groups from squaring off with each other, let alone when the same corp is fighting amongst itself with players on both sides, F. If the randoms haven't spec'd into AV by now, this is not going to make them either... (more of an opinion than a fact) |

I'm guessing it's time to run militia gear killing AV guys and farming ISK for cheap tanks!. Good luck killing my tank this week lol, the next few weeks however..... I'm gonna feel like Scrooge McDuck diving into a pile of Sagaris's!
CCP just haven't thought this through. If they wanted more data, then give everyone AV skills for free and vehicles for free and let them go at it.
This event serves nothing but disruption and annoyance to the community if you ask me. Vehicles, AV and Missiles are already a massive issue, all this does is spam the servers with more of them.
Does CCP actually want active Beta Players? |

B. Some are saying light railguns on vehicles are a good way to counter drop ships. I will be testing that over the 5 days. C. The rotating SP cap doesn't stop someone from speccing in LAV or AV for this. You may not have perfect skills but enough to cause them trouble. |

Your B, I will believe it when I actually see it work in a game, so far the only friendly LAV's have been easily dispatched by the enemy's vehicles or by thier AV guys. Is this information provided by the Drop Ship pilots, like their claims of being taken out regularly by a forge gunner in one shot from across the map?
Your C, by the time their AV is effective will be long after this event is over. So in my opinion they are just weakening their defense of random AV players against enemy AV hunters.
When will I get to read a steady month long cry from the vehicle users that they are getting crushed, when will I see them complain until they are blue in the face about a problem that is just not being solved.
G. The framerate already drops when more than 4 vehicles are on the Map, and gets worse when they are all in the same zone of the map actively firing explosion producing effect weapons. H. Did they fix this rumored bonus to stacking effect or debunk it? I. Did they fix the fact that LAV's make almost no noise J. Did they add something that will make it so a tank or dropship can't run away, rumored stasis web (meaning that even if you go full heavy AV with the best forge gun, and the prototype AV grenades, and advanced or better smg it makes you money instead of losing it). |

B.Yea there is. Just no one does it. You give me another breach forge gunner, a good hiding spot and about 5.9 seconds and the dropship will be countered.
D.Yea, that might be what they're trying to fix with this whole thing. And not just AV, running an HMG is an ISK pit unless you have AUR. |

I've actually done the B alone before, and (finally!) had a gunner that had a slight idea what they were doing (still stupid though) so a moving LAV could continuously fire on a dropship, instead of a stationary one like I'm usually forced to.
Still, most of it boils down to the gunner having practice, and the driver knowing where to be and when to pull out of a bad situation. For me, a baloch-impact with all BPOs (except for an advanced railgun) can do a pretty good job. Saving ISK to be able to start using standard gallente LAVs.
What I'm going to be testing over the 5 days is the effectiveness of hybrid turrets (even on dropships!), when given enough love.
I even saw an imperfect today who took the time to fit a large blaster (with the range and damage, I would assume proto) on their HAV- they were more effective than I've ever seen anyone with a missile turret be. |

- Railguns need to charge, but are fully automatic after that point
- Only fire 3 shot bursts (2 with some- watch the heat to know what you should do) before letting off- otherwise it'll overheat it.
- Lead your shots- they have a projectile, instead of being instantaneous damage as most people seem to assume
- Don't be afraid to fire a shot while it's mostly cooled down; you shouldn't be going full auto unless it's completely cooled, but if the dropship is on its last chunk of health and/or retreating, you'll need to get a shot in
- If there are no vehicles that you can see, try hitting stationary/slow moving infantry. You almost always OHK with these things.
- (same goes for blasters) WATCH. THE. HEAT.
Last but not least (this is for all turrets on LAVs), keep an eye on your health (it's the small health indicator next to the vehicle one) and pay attention to when you're getting shot at- just move to the passenger seat when you're worried about getting shot off the turret. Any experienced driver will get the hint that it's time to back off, then drive off to a remote corner to hide. From then on, hop out and they'll hopefully use their repair tool on you. If they don't know what you want, you'll need to hop back in ASAP before they drive off. |
