Just read about this in another thread... glad to hear it's only a week-long price drop... I was worried it would be a lasting deal. That would suck.

I've been a gunner for a Rail LAV that went Dropship hunting.
I'm not good at Railguns, but it seemed pretty effective. |

I'm not good at Railguns, but it seemed pretty effective. just a few things you need to remember-
- Railguns need to charge, but are fully automatic after that point
- Only fire 3 shot bursts (2 with some- watch the heat to know what you should do) before letting off- otherwise it'll overheat it.
- Lead your shots- they have a projectile, instead of being instantaneous damage as most people seem to assume
- Don't be afraid to fire a shot while it's mostly cooled down; you shouldn't be going full auto unless it's completely cooled, but if the dropship is on its last chunk of health and/or retreating, you'll need to get a shot in
- If there are no vehicles that you can see, try hitting stationary/slow moving infantry. You almost always OHK with these things.
- (same goes for blasters) WATCH. THE. HEAT.
Last but not least (this is for all turrets on LAVs), keep an eye on your health (it's the small health indicator next to the vehicle one) and pay attention to when you're getting shot at- just move to the passenger seat when you're worried about getting shot off the turret. Any experienced driver will get the hint that it's time to back off, then drive off to a remote corner to hide. From then on, hop out and they'll hopefully use their repair tool on you. If they don't know what you want, you'll need to hop back in ASAP before they drive off. Thanks. +1 even though it's mostly things I already knew. My problem isn't with understanding the mechanics behind the gun, it's more with just being bad at applying that knowledge. |

1. Spawn with Drop Uplink and who cares what else. 2. After establishing a safe spawn location, come back with Repair Tool. Again, the rest of the fitting doesn't matter.
You can repeat the pattern any time you die and either the Uplink is gone or has been used a few times, or any time you notice the Uplink is low/gone and have a Supply Depot in reach. You can also switch out for a Swarm Launcher to add even more AV firepower to the squad - unless your Repair Tool fitting already has one... |

Scheneighnay McBob wrote:don't forget your nanohives My Logis are Repair/Hive (one of them has Swarms). My normal Swarm/SMG fitting is Nanohive, but I have an alt version with a Repair Tool. My Shotgun Medic has a Repair Tool only, but it's an Assault, so you can't have everything. I also have a shield-tanked Shotgun/Hive build.
So I can cover both bases pretty well, but yes, I had forgotten to mention that in the post.
3 Heavies, one multi-role. |
