Assault rifle needs to sound like its blasting out hot burning charged plasma ripping through the air at high velocities, and not like some generic military shooter gun. It needs to soun more scifi. |

I'm glad there is already a thread for sound. -Different gun variations should have different sounds. -More in game chatter. The characters should say things from time to time. It gets you more invested in the game. Having an option to change the style of your characters chatter would be a bonus on that. -I'm sick of hearing disembodied-robot-voice-lady all the time. Just a little change would be nice. -More ambient noise effects. The game is supposed to be about massive war, there should be ambient blasts and sounds in addition to player created sounds. The game on a whole is too quiet. -Vehicles are way too quiet. Lumbering tanks and drop ships overheard should produce appropriate sounds. |

I am still very interested in this minor thing (as well as a bunch of other minor things). A sound similar to the SMALL BLASTER turrets would be great. |

I have no problems hearing LAVs. Its thousands of years in the future, Earth has been lost for quite a long time with no way of getting back (and oil reserves probably got depleted even before that), it would be insane if we somehow used fossil fuels still. I don't get why anyone expects LAVs to sound like their current cars. |

What?! is electricity a nonrenewable resource that takes millions of years of highly pressured and heated dead organic matter to make? The universe isn't going to run out of electrons. How the hell is that even a comparison? For all you know, that electricity could be generated by some new energy source we haven't imagined yet, or it might not even be electricity at all, but something else that just sounds like that. |

Contrarian position alert.
I like the low sound of the Tactical AR. Not very attention gathering. Considering they are single shot that is a good thing.
The current sound of the LAV is really sweet. It is a turbine type of sound which is more consistent with running on different planets versus a diesel or other internal combustion anachronism.
If your squad is using mics, adding fake chatter would be detrimental and eventually we all should be using mics. Also, I personally cannot stand that fake chatter in FPSs. There is never much memory for enough variation in fake chatter in most games and sooner or later you get to hear that one phrase for the three hundredth time. Then, you will be like me. I always want a mute button on the fake chatter and inane NPC commenting solutions out there in Video Game Land. Argh! Now you made me think of Gears Of War and their rotten voice acting! A pox on you! |

Why does "something else" have to be electric? Hydrogen combusts too and doesn't require the molecular decomposition you have an issue with. Electric cars could very well be obsulete bc the conversion of electrons to mechanical work may never be able to drive around the mass of these future vehicles. It's quite basic really, a battery would have a real hard time driving a dust LAV considering a modern humvee weighs 5-10 tons. |

It'd be similar to the rail gun DARPA shot a few years ago. The projectile they shot came out going a little over 4km/s and had a plasma burst come with it from the rails vaporizing due to the heat. It made a very, very loud boom from the heat expansion shock wave. And it ended up plastering a cement wall.

Read the bold underlined italicized part. I clearly state it might not actually be electric at all. It could just happen to sound similar to an electric car. As for your comment about batteries, for all you know, a battery in EVE/Dust times could power a current modern city |

Honestly I hope they cover the difference in our opinions with different races. You have to admit there seems to be enough people on both sides of the coin. Some want big booms and some want future sounds. Would be clever of CCP to further distinguish between races with opposing engine sound styles |

Yes. However the projectile was fired by rail. The sound is caused by shock wave of the round plus the heated plasma and vapors from the rails disintegrating. Problem with rail guns, especially the big ones like that so that have been built is the rails only last a few shots. Too fast of a heat build up from firing for one along with having to use light weight soft metals. |
