So we all know what the red zone is, and that the team's main base (in skirmish, at least) is un-accessible to the enemy team because it is in their red zone, but what if it were impossible to earn SP/WP while you were in your team's red zone? This would make it harder for boosters and remove snipers that sit in the hills inside their red zone where they are invincible to those of us with CQC weaponry.

ok i see where you are coming from but what if your team gets pushed back and now you earn no points while trying to push out of the red zone then everyone will just quit game instead trying new tactics to come out of the red zone. |

agree with OP.
farming abuse far outweighs the potential loss of skillpoints by legitimate players who happen to get redlined.
(besides, lets be honest... if you're being redlined, you're probably not racking up points ANYWAY) |

Also +1 to this.
Not only would this make the red zone (aka safe zone) more safe due to no rewards being handed out for attacking things within this would also (as the OP rightly says) address the issues of farming and sniping from within the redzone.
As far as concerns over being stuck there (aka "redlined") make sure maps offer two starting spawn areas and make one of them an MCC (it's not a perfect solution but it's an improvement over the current iteration).
Or introduce a mechanic whereby if a team is "redlined" the random spawn mechanic kicks in (doesn't even have to random spawn over the whole map, just the end where that team started so they couldn't really be camped because it''ll be one whole edge of the map).

EDIT: One other note, fix the matchmaking system that drops people into games in progress (usually 25-95% complete) and there will be far fewer instances of "redline" anyway. I know that the overwhelming majority of games I play where either team gets redlined it's because the match started lopsided, a major portion of one team doesn't enter the game till it's well along and they're given very slim chance to recover. |

I agree, with the OP, something I have been saying as well. - or perhaps just not repping in the redzone, because lets face it snipers like the redcover and they do earn us some WP.
On another note - the nerf update of less WP is wack. If it is a temp fix - it is manageable, but as a permanent fix it is stupid - now we get one Orbital a game without farming, maybe two.. And dropping the WP down to half of what was earned before by players is... dumb. Don't give me more then take it away. Adjusting the commission earned by the squad leader is justifiable - but the players still need their rewards for following orders. |

Thread I started that relates to certain aspects of the issue, specifically the WP/SP nerf.
Regarding the OP, I know I'm repeating myself but whether it's no WP in the red, or just no repping either one would be an improvement of the current methodology. (I plan to continue to give this feedback until either CCP states outright that the fix is temporary or changes the iteration being used. Otherwise I would be much of a beta tester now would I?) |

perhaps instead of of zeroing out wp in the red zone have a either a cap or diminishing returns. This would still allow a team temporarily red lined to still have reason to fight, but would encourage both sides to avoid a red line.
another option would be to have certain wp activities reduced in the redline and not others. Repair and resupply should not be necessary in the red, for instance. |
