This thread is for al the future blue dots out there that might jump into the turret of my LAV. When you get in, what kind of turret do you prefer? It's also worth notting that I'm no longer using the default LAV, and that i have armor and other various countermeasures to prevent most One or Two Hit K/O's
the problem is:
+i cannot seem to keep anyone in my turret if i equip blasters; no one likes them?!
+Rail guns won't have much use unti AV/ anti-struture becomes a bigger part of dust (good for picking off snipers though)
+most people just can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn with rockets unless I'm right on top of the target.
I'm already committed to speccing into LAVs for my own reasons, i just want to hear some opinions on the different turrets for ground combat.
Please give a type and an explanation for you're selection.
Thank you

not sure if its lag or what but when using the rockets theres seams to be a delay
might be worth finding a dedicated gunner that has trained turret operations to benifit from using any weapon u have on the lav |

Missile launcher. There is a cyclic turret which has crazy fire rate. Tbh you need to find a squad/corp to play with so your guys know your role, and support you. Your gunner is probably not as important to YOU as your infantry support. Then just want the missile to keep spamming while they do their job, then you take them else where :D |

that might help alittle, athough most damage multiplayers (all or the modules) come from the load out of my LAV.

hmm ill have to look into the cyclic missile turret. ATM i have the High velocity High accuracy launcher. Also, it's safe to say that 90% of the time i am squadded up (it's a game changer) but i can't seem to keep any of my buddies in the back long enough to get any decent feedbackGǪ
missles: 2 railgun/blaster :0

It seem that even if i place a good turret in the back, people who aren't skilled in turrets get a water down version.
Skill into turrets you unversed masses! |

I was just in a game with a dedicated lav pilot. It was great. He ha some armor, a report, and some kind of sensor. The sensor was invaluable when holding a position. He also had a prototype blaster. We wrecked. Went 19 and 1. We only lost 1 lavs in 3 games. Just don't stop moving. Even if it's a little back and forth. Otherwise u will lose the gunner to a sniper. |

I seem to do better with blaster turrets. Not that I don't appreciate missile splash damage, but the direct nature of rapid fire seems to work better fro me at the moment. At least until they fix the mouse oversensitivity. Then it probably won't matter what the turret is.
Still... Any vehicle driver would be better off with a dedicated gunner regardless. |

ST-1 Fragmentation is the One True LAV Turret. The One Turret to Rule Them All.
The Small Railgun turrets are damn near useless. Sure, you COULD hit a sniper with them now and then, and you CAN use them against installations, but you can do that with Rockets too. The main problem with these is the fact that they shoot immediately when charged. They'd be marginally useful if you could hold the charge for awhile to line things up.
The Small Blaster turrets are only worth it for 'suicide runs' in cramped spaces. That, and dueling other LAV's while rolling with a driver and gunner. Both are extremely limited, however, and are almost never worth giving up the Frag. If you were unfortunate enough to pick Gallente for your starting race (or whichever other one gets the Baloch Impact), you can make a cheap suicide Baloch with militia armor plates. Drive it into a cramped area such as one of the Deathmatch maps, hop in the turret, and mow people down until you start getting hit or someone chucks an AV grenade. Free machinegun nest.
The standard Militia Rocket that comes with the Onikuma is fine. But the name versions are better, obviously. If you're going to use a 'standard' (non fast-flying, non frag, non fast-reload) turret, you might as well go Militia.
The fast-firing ones are decent enough for auto-duels or sniping people. Generally, though, this makes it on the same order of usefulness as the blaster, and can be done in similar situations... except you don't want to suicide them because they cost money. Also, I'd rather have someone skilled in a frag or fast-flying launcher than this.
The fast-flying ones have much greater range and are great for sniping turrets across the map. They can also tag people with a quickness since you have less need to lead the target. They are also good for that quick snap-shot to tag someone who's not moving... like a sniper or that jackass with the Swarms who's about to punch holes in your colon.
But, after all that, the Fragmentation is still the best. Equivalent direct damage but reduced splash. Don't let the "5.0 meter splash" vs "6.8 meter splash" fool you... it may SAY that, but for all practical purposes, it's got about twice the radius of the 'standard' one. It does less damage on the splash, but at least you are inflicting damage with the splash. Reduced damage versus NO damage is no contest. You just have to aim in the general direction of the foe's feet and WHAM, they take at least some damage. And when people try to hide around corners, behind walls, or in those little crinkly bits in the city portions of maps? Yeah. Boom. This also makes it easier to duel other vehicles.
