Seriously, CrimsonMoonV, who in the hell is forcing you to eat soggy p!ss soaked corn-flakes every day, three times a day with a glass of p!ss milk, and soggy sh!+ toast? Because, you are untolerable. Seriously dude get off the haterade, or something. We get it you do not like this build. I doubt you've liked any build. Yet we the people have to put up with your childish snobbish, rantings, and ravings. If I wanted this I'd go work for a state run pysch-ward, or insane asylume. Atleast then I'd be paid put up with it.
How about you start by less kicking and screaming. The whole I'm throwing a tantrum thing twenty-four seven with the song "It's My Party & I'll Cry if I Want to". I have no problem with you most of the time, but the whole routine is getting stale and I see mold. This is not going to help you get your way. Some of What you have to say is even decent and worthwhile valid points on what should be looked into.

Lol, seems that i know you quite well but the opposite isnt true. And i'm confident CCP will solve this as they have various solutions in mind already. In fact, if you were really that much of a beta tester and hanged out on IRC with the devs like i do, you would know it.

Being on IRC is not absolutely needed. And i'm not suggesting that not being on IRC makes you less important. I was just answering to you blaming me for criticizing exploit users instead of offering solutions, wich was false. That's it.
Now, i see you decided then to create an uber-feedback thread. Guess my intervention had some good in it then. |

Don't you guys think that we get to give suggestions to devs every 10 minutes.. Those guys work. Its main use is that it offers a chance to debate in live with different people from the beta. And often i ends up with a thread on official forums.
Also, one of the main reason why people use IRC is to try and get fresh news more often to feed to the forums.

if you haven't worked it out yet posting info here would constrain them from future bodge fixes and only have players asking why they didnt actually fix the underlying problems not just quickfix it and break 10 other things or compromise on gameplay and game quality. don't forget they invented "working as intended" |

Considering they have actual PR employees those do just as well. As for your opinion on whether or not it would hinder progress I say progress is being hinder by not taking the time to connect properly with your testers. Opening a timed thread to ask how things are going in-game and what issues you are having, or concerns is not going to hinder the game at all. They open it for twenty-four hours and close it. Review it and see what issues seem appropriate or of actual concern. Thank testers, and have a nice day. I bet the forums and players would be a lot happier.
You know.. Instead of using a glorified twitter feed to mention you are on break, or going to use the rest room. |

IRC has been rather vacant due to them being on vacation. So far they told us they know about the problems involving corps, fittings and squad stability. They haven't done any QnAs lately.
All I do know the reduced strafing was part of the new infantry mobility model which gives everyone more reliable mass and velocity, thus no more prancing around like a feather. Its also why there is infantry collision now and if you slam into each other hard enough you actually cause damage. |

well, then the new infantry mobility model is poorly named. New model of infantry lameability seems more correct. |

i agree with you but isnt that what bug reports are for? saves them the hastle of actually gathering the info from the thread, more bug reports on a certain problem quicker bug gets fixed?
too much of a downside for them as they seem to like using fixes that compromise game quality, look at how they used strafing to fix bullet reg. that's why they post things on IRC and get players to bring the info here. go back and serach the threads for second hand info from IRC and see actually how much of it was implemented with this build. |

The issue comes with the fact that a majority of the communication that is supposed to occur between testers and the dev's was supposed to happen on the forums. But for a while it has been happening on IRC. So the question comes down to what is the point? Forums or IRC.
I have school, work, a wife, and all of my other side projects. I can only follow so much.
What I would suggest, would be to consolidate the lines of constructive, discursive interactions between the devs and US. This would help facilitate a better understanding between us while also ensuring a continuous line of input on the mechanics of the game while mitigating the trolling that is going on right now as people seem to go about beating each other with their inflated egos.
Interactions like the ones that i have seen in the threads are getting old, obnoxious, tedious, boring, and they down right confirm the idea in my mind that humans are a disease waiting to be extinguished by this planet.
This is supposes to be a collaborative effort between the devs at CCP, Sony, and US. Why is it that people need to go about, name calling, bashing, and doing all of those things that people would flip out about if they would happen to them (i.e., being in general annoying little 2 YO babies with your tantrums and general lack of ability to contextualize your surroundings in a meaningful and constructive manner)?
If given half a chance, CCP would be willing to fix any given issue, I am sure of it because it means that it would have the potential of increasing their revenue stream on this particular product line. At the same time, if members of this community would take a greater amount of time in thinking about the whole community, rather than just being selfish and self-centered about their complaints and "requests" (i.e., demands), then we, as a community, may be saved from the shite that people vomit out on these forums.
Now this is just my opinion, observations, and contextualized understandings. This all coming from a feeling that I am involved in something that is completely infested by supposed adults, that have the attention span and general ability to look beyond their own noses as an infant.
This is a situation where the inmates are running the asylum now, and I feel the more I hang out around you people, the crazier it makes me. SO STOP INFECTING OTHERS WITH YOUR INSANITY!!! |

Wow, this thread veered off the path quickly enough. How about looking at his proposition and building on it or deconstructing it .
I for one think it is a worthwhile idea to consider, even if I don't think it is practical. it certainly hit me sideways because I have never played an FPS where there was no strafing. So my first reaction was obviously: WHAT!!! Get outta here.
It could make sense to prevent strafing for the heavies, but they are already so slow that it would make little difference.
It would make no sense to prevent it from the scouts (especially with CCP's idea of using scouts with shotguns for close quarters), but if the scouts can do it but not the others it would be a little too overpowered since they are already fast movers. It would certainly make for interesting specialization thought, and you would now have the possibility of "speed tanking" which I definitely like. But it would require nerfing the scouts in other ways.
I can't see eliminating strafing altogether, it would make the motions way too stiff and so different to any and every other FPS that too many FPS players would rebel against it and CCP would lose a lot of potential players (the reactions in this thread proves it).
On the other hand, maybe strafing could be nerfed a bit by increasing the bobbing while strafing and disabling auto-aim, so someone who would not strafe would have an attacking advantage, but strafing would still be a viable defensive maneuver. |

No.
I understand why you think it should be "gear > strafing ability", but that's too bad. Strafing has become a key mechanic of every game that isn't 2D, so to request it removed is ridiculous. Request denied. |

Make Strafing a movement skill, Strafe Mobility or Combat Maneuvering. At lvl 1 you would strafe and move backwards a little slower than now, and at lvl 5 you would be strafing and moving backwards as fast as you could in the last build. Have it so in lower levels their is a slight delay from strafing left then right because of momentum and overcoming it but in the higher levels you have trained for proper footing and mass management of your clone.
Its not like some fresh of the street guy could out maneuver a veteran Football or Soccer athlete.

Seriously though how much of an mmo do we want out of this game. Right now skill is not much of a factor. |

This is really what it comes down to. Why bother going to all this trouble to make an FPS if it's just going to boil down to slow, point and click gameplay? |

I don't mind if Combat Maneuvering(strafe, slide, roll, side hop), Reflex (aim speed), Consolidation (muscle memory, weapon swap), Flexibility (Jump height) and a few others for improving suit control. |

Its not like some fresh of the street guy could out maneuver a veteran Football or Soccer athlete.
good/bad? i'd put all my SP into it if this existed Which would be fine because it is important to you, but for say a dedicated tanker or pilot they wouldn't need something like this. just so long as the movement speed was not greater than the hit detection lol
being able to move out of the way of bullets, to me is very important. if i have to break dance my way out of bullets so be it. not asking for a god mode, but a chance for survival. i'm a tanker, a pilot. and a soldier |

Adding a modifier that decreases weapon accuracy while strafing would balance the bullet dodging. |

I actually choose to use the officaial forums not a 3rd party biased chatroom
This is why the game is not going in the right direction, the devs give us a forum to post on and yet they fail to use it to inform us of anything or listen to concerns.
The IRC is half the problem |
