Well boys get prepared for insta death mayhem. Cavity thunkker grenades are coming out in a isk version also. For those who hated REs your going to really love these things because they are so much more effective.
I decided to throw these a whole match and was able to achieve 18-2 in ambush while the next highest score on my team was 4-10. I was able to hold my own against 8 guys at once with these babies. Oh I just can not wait for the spam that will be coming. :)
And no I am not against grenades just against explode on contact grenadess that do 600 damage so as long as you in there blast range your insta dead unless your running a heavy.
I believe 1 of 2 things needs to happen.
1. They do the same damage as a mass driver variant. So what do I mean by that. Well a advanced grenades does advanced damage worth of a mass driver. A proto type does proto type damage of a mass driver.
2. Just completely take them out of the game. Force people to actually cook grenades and use grenades with a little skill. not just throw for insta kills if anyone gets close. |

Just halve their damage and it's sorted.
Two shot kill grenade spam I can live with. It's being insta popped that is the issue. |

I think i'll always plead in favor of purely DELETING this type of grenades. There's no difference between that and the Remote Explosives from the past build.
I already picture mercs using deadly OHK knives, Contact Grenades and nanohives with an auto-bomb setting off when they fail to ruin everyone at CQC
=> GAME BREAKER.
Every stuff that can OHK or even TwoHK someone without demanding any effort will be abused. That's a fact. Why ? Cause after a week of trying to counter those, most people will think : "Can't beat them ? Join them"

Finally people are catching up to this. I've said it from launch, those bastards are OP.
Even the "fused" locus grenades with 400 HP of damage and a range of 4 meters is borderlining OP. Don't get me wrong, I love them and I used to love the Cavity tuckers in the previous builds. I decided to stay away from them both this build, I don't want it to become a pillow for me.
I completely agree that these nades should be nerfed, seriously. Either cut the Tuckers out, let the people settle for the fused ones, or seriously reduse damage and range. I can imagine that a 300/3 setup (damage/range) should be more than enough.
If people only learned to **** the nades and estimate time/range, in short: Use skill when throwing their nades, we could have a great nade game. I've blown myself up over 50 times learning the timeing of the standard nades. i've gotten houndres of sweetly, skillfully placed nade kills wich is a lot seweeter than the somewhat cheap direct hit kills from previous builds.
DO WE REALLY WANT A GAME WERE DIRECT HIT NADES IS THE BE-ALL OF ANY CQC ENCOUNTER? I DON'T!!! |

Range isnt the problem at all. Even worse it cleary says "hey, rush the guy and just screw him with your undodgable grenade" People already complain that Zerg rush will probably be OP. It will be even worse with those.
All we'll see will be rush battle ending up at close range with ninja knife mercs, close range nade. Like Braveheart lol.
Okay, i'm exagerating a bit but i feel like doing that today ^^ |

With range I really mean "blast radius", if its too big, it will be even easier to use, thats all.

suit nerf is a good idea. It helps to avoid replacing skill by skillpoints. Blow on impact nades is a very different deal. It's about a playstyle that will for sure ruin gunfights at some point. |

Should we save ccp some time and just get them to stop working on the stronger OB now? A damn MOAB will wreck all proto suits. Can you say OP? Can you imagine the fairy dust 514 tears?
You guys enjoy the game you making. There is a clone coming out soon though. Even that game for ***** kids can have remote explosives.

Got popped earlier with a Cavity grenade, ambushed a guy in assault gear, he turned around and dumped a nade as he was almost dead, and he got a kill and suicide. Do they cancel each other out??
Edit - Also, I didn't realize there were contact grenades, the whole concept is pretty lame I think. I am fan of grenades, but figuring out how to use them properly with cooking or not and getting your aim down makes them fun to use. Might as well make them infantry seeking grenades, it's only slightly less cheesy than that. Especially with 600!!!! damage.. |

These are totally wrecking my Shotgun/SMG fitting. Fortunately they don't yet seem to be as popular as REs were. (An ISK variant should change that, though.)
I'd actually go as far as to say they are much worse than REs, which still needed a split second to detonate after being thrown and had to be equipped first. I got pretty good at rushing RE guys in the last build, but you can't tell at a glance who has instaboom grenades and thus can't adjust your tactics. You can't even tell if it's going to instaboom as the guy throws it.
Also, they seem to be much less apt to fizzle out than normal grenades. (I only have anecdotal evidence for that one.)
Basically, they either need to do a fraction of the damage or have some kind of unmistakable tell when they're about to get tossed. Otherwise they will simply replace all other close quarters tactics. |

hell no keep them in the game. Thats my only counter against scout sponge abusers. Allways if i see a scout running up to me i throw 1 to their feets with the following sentence: " nneeerrrrr! Sponging denied here catch!" as long scouts can even sponge 300 bullets from a HMG i will continue using them. |

skill > skillpoints a good player will **** no matter what ppl in all proto gear stompin on newbies because they are demi gods isnt fun this is an MMOFPS not an MMO Planetside is the same, notice how in that game a high tier character still will die reasonably well to a new guy? its about providing SMALL advantages not HUGE ones like before this game is an FPS 1st and foremost and in any FPS it should be about SKILL rather than time invested giving u a huge leg up. |

hit detection is ur enemy not the scout suits these nades need to be nerfed or removed, its cheaper than REs |

I had an idea for a module that built up heavy resistance to damage that was only triggered when it is hit with 350 points of damage or more. I had 10 guys too afraid to round a corner after 1 guy because I was sitting on a nano hive spamming them whenever someone came around the corner. :) they finally just went the other way after 6 guys ventured stupidly around the corner. hehehe.

Now why do I use them because CCP is a company about looking at the stats. So if your going to get them to relize it is OP you need to abuse it so the stats show that it is OP. means it is is a AUR iteam only a few people can use them so stats are not high unless you look at aur users.
And for staying out of range on ambush on 2 of the maps that is impossible because all the fighting goes on in short range areas. |

Then draw them out of the close range areas. If your team doesn't oblige them by staying out in the wider more open areas, they'll be forced to change tactics and/or stop using the grenades. Tactics man, learn to use 'em. |
