and you mention this why. its really a minor thing, why not stick to serious things. like say the invalid loadouts, or the current major glitch of squads.
honestly i dont think it needs to be mentioned at all since how is it a problem its simply using a simple thing for a few points |

Honestly, it is not a legitimate thing being exploited now. They would be getting more SP playing properly, than they are repairing their vehicle. It's just idiotic. I've tried exploiting this already, weeks ago, and it gets you 100WP a game, at most, as it's fairly difficult to damage through a shield, and not destroy the LAV altogether. (doing it in a tank would work, but it would be really damn hard to accomplish) And then, even if they did successfully do it, they'd have to do it again, and again, and again, receiving 25 points for a full dropship or LAV repair, with 50 points for a full tank repair.
Only an idiot would do this, after realising the amount of WP they are getting.(WP seems to be the factor in SP from what I can tell)

I heard about this, tried it out with a mate on the Asia server, so few people on there that we got into an almost totally empty game. Spawned a drop ship, set it as a defend point (gets you +62 points every few sec for repair) and smashed it into the ground and repaired it over and over again. By the time the game ended we each had 0/0 K/D but walked away with 300k sp. It CAN be exploited, and CAN be worth it for those who want to power through skills. It's just boring as ****. |

Set a defend order on a boosted armor LAV and see how many points your squad members get. Not to mention what your squad leader gets for commision. You should read up on these posts it's not a single person. It's a squad doing this. You get way more points that 50 for a full tank repair. Tank's are to hard to get into armor damage though. Dropships and LAV's are actually a lot easier to get down to nothing. You get mad points for repairing. Especially if your squad leader drops the defend order on the vehicle. |

Problem can be solved. Just assign penalties for self inflicted damage (collision or friendly fire) for the player causing the damage. So if you're a bad driver or shooter and cause accidental damage then you should be penalized for it too. The amount of penalty should be as much as the repair will give, thus the repairers will still gain the WP, but the guy causing the damage to a friendly target will lose it thus keeping it in balance. |

Sounds reasonable, If someone is getting negative points they wouldnt be doing it. But driving an LAV, you do wreck, I wouldn't wanna cripple the use of the LAV because you get negative points for wrecking it. How would the game determine who was at fault in a collision with another LAV. I just say put on an armor rep and fix your LAV that way. I have noticed with CCP when something it being used as unintended they fix the problem. This is a problem. |

The exploit certainly needs to be fix.
That being said I hope there's a more elegant way than stripping points away from the (already undervalued in legit play) repper tool. I honestly think that if the repper rewards are just stripped (what about dropships or LAVs that get clipped on terrain or structures trying to maneuver away from enemy fire?) it'll just reduce how often the tool is fit in the first place.

Well if it's a collision with a friendly LAV then both will get the penalty determined by the damage caused to their vehicle. Also this should include a timeout for collisions after receiving damage from the enemy thus if you're running away from enemy damage you can accidentally collide without penalty and if any of the vehicles being a part with another vehicle under "enemy damage timeout" then no penalties to any of them. Collisions damages with the enemies and/or enemy vehicle would not naturally cause any penalties.
Currently I think the driving on the battlefield is very reckless. People are driving down ravines causing crash damage to their vehicles etc. Having penalties for damaging ones own vehicle would effectively eliminate this and people would be encouraged to drive their vehicles as they're supposed to be driven, controller manner without crazy stunts over the cliffs or any of that type. |

A squad mate and I tested another possibility on how to cheat. A heavy with a forge gun can splash damage himself while a logi reps him. It's possible to to get three or four OS in one match with warpoints gained this way.
As forge gun splash won't harm friends but will harm you, maybe the splash should not harm the user too. the other choice is the self splash damage could kill the forge gun operator, instantly. |

This brings up another solve, at least for the more egregious uses of it. CCP is recording data, it shouldn't be too hard to review the specific actions of any squad members who spend most of their time in one area of the map (like starting spawn zones) and who take no enemy damage while still taking consistent damage. If CCP has the data to conclusively determine whether an exploit is in use they could always penalize anyone who uses it by revoking all SP & ISK gained by them that day. Even if they only spot check for use of the exploit the consequences would be harsh enough to stop most of it (which presumably would make the other instances stand out even more). |

Not exactly sure what you mean by that. All my points were got in a respectful way. I do not cheat. I have set a defend order on my tank and rolled with my squad and getting massive rewards for it. If thats what you mean then yes. I didn't abuse anything though. |

Although I was unaware of this exploit it makes perfect sense that the player base would prefer to find a cheap and easy way to steal sp instead of actually playing. Sigh...
Personally, I really like the idea of blue on blue damage being directly subtracted from either isk payout or sp payout. Isk makes more in game sense to me.
Friendly fire is going to be a complex mechanic to manage. There will need to be negative effects to causing it if loopholes are to be kept under control

Cross, you've hit the nail on the head once again. That is the perfect solution if they set up a computer algorithm to search out these instances and then review the results that turn up. This guy^is a genius. |

That a creative one i've not seen done before. That's brilliant.I Didn't know it could be repaired. Maybe it's an intended feature to be able to repair the MCC throughout the battle? Very interesting. |

Did a little boost testing. There are definitely various successful ways to boost at the moment that i hope get patched. I'll be sending emails to CCP with my results. In my testing with 3 men, you can attain an orbital roughly every 1 1/2 minutes and a combined 500,000+ SP amongst them in under 10 minutes. That's pretty substantial on its own, but with more guys involved and particular skills increased and more advanced equipment, it would be considerably more.
Keep in mind people, this is a beta. It is our job to find these issues. Don't get bent out of shape when you see people boosting in a beta. We are getting wiped and these things will be patched, so relax. As long as you pass the info on to CCP you can rest assured it'll be fixed in the final release and we'll all be better off. |
