All I can say towards this is the same for every other topic but i'm too lazy to respond to them all. Herpderp you've been using tanks as forward assault platforms? What are you insane. Use LAVs for that. Anyhow most of the tank balancing issue was the fact that you had enough low/high slots to set up a tank and your turret wasn't affected by how much tank you had. So meh lack of elements is all it is. |

It's the best idea I've ever heard regarding tanks. It would require tank drivers to actually, you know, communicate and use teamwork, just like dropships and LAVs and AV guys. You're right though, if you only use tanks to pad your stats because they're EZmode, then yes, this wouldn't be such a good change |

I've said exactly this in EVERY thread on this subject and it can't be repeated enough. A tank should not be a one man force-multiplier. No real-world tank is fully operable by one person, and that's because even if they could do so, they would be completely ineffective up against a fully crewed tank, because one person can't handle all the functions of that kind of vehicle.
The only thing that makes HAVs seem overpowered is the fact that you can call in so many of them because they only take one person to operate, the secondary turrets really being just icing on the cake. If it took two people off of your team for each HAV, you'd see far less of them called in because there wouldn't be enough infantry to cap points or get anything else done. |

That's not an excuse for keeping the asset the way it is now. Besides, Corporations are coming out in the next patch, so you can just join one and then play with people you trust to operate your gun, which is how it should be. There's a reason all the Planetside 2 players are campaigning for the same thing in that game. |

even if a tank sits at the back of the map to provide bombardment swarms can still hit them with 0 risk to the heavy. pop out lock hide behind rock and launch also doesnt help that if you pull behind a rock to hide from them they make a 90 degree turn and still hit. Tanks weren't that hard to kill, there damage maybe should have been nerfed but there tank is pretty easily broken if you have swarms with any skill whatsoever. i could see nerfing perhaps the gunnlogi and madrugar, theyre only 200k tanks and take less sp to train for. however i think the saragis and surya should have been left alone at 1.2 mill base tank mine runs 1.9 with fittings, 10 swarm suits dont cost that much and there is no escape from them........really balanced indeed. Personally i think this is prob the end of tanks, yay carebears cuz i wont put mine on field, doesnt matter how much support you have it wont live period. |

Haven't had a chance to play today so I can't say anything from personal experience since the hotfix. Personally I only started driving tanks over the last week because every match I got into had 5-6 total tanks or more on the field for both sides. The only time running around infantry worked out is if the other team was actually using team work to try and take the tanks down. Then it became easy mode for kills since they were busy using swarm launchers and forge guns to even notice I was there. So basically I skilled into tanks to help level the playing field against other tanks and stop with the 5-x games I was having. It was either too boring because I couldn't find any enemies to shoot or instant deaths because of the tanks on the other side.

I couldn't agree more. Not only would it require team work to operate a tank, but it would require someone willing to risk up to a few million isk to put their tank on the ground while only having control over driving, outside of trusting someone else to drive anyway. Which I'm sure not many players are going to be willing to do unless they have a completely trusted squad.
Other than that happening, I believe the only other way to make it fair is for tanks to be first person only. Not being able to see someone sneaking up behind you or from the side would cripple a drive around and shoot style of play. Not to mention how the smallest little thing can be ran into without being able to see it getting you stuck. That would make to where the driver will most likely just want to sit back in one place and not move, again making it easier for an AV squad to take care of it. I'm not saying there isn't anyone that can/does do that in first person, but it would definitely stop a lot people. |

u guys are ******** no game has seperated the tank from main turret thats the single dumbest suggestion ive heard ppl post when fighters get put in u geniuses gonna QQ and say the fighter needs to be a 2 seater and have the guns seperated from the pilot...soo ********.
tanks arent solo beasts btw, ppl are just lazy to work together even with the nerf now ppl QQing about tanks got hit bad idk i played BF with glass tanks and a good player will still dominate in a tank if the other team lacks the tools and teamwork to deal with them

I think if the choice is between tanks being a god-mode I win button, and tanks being useless... the latter will be better for the health of the game. They can tweak tanks slowly upward with less impact and better balance than slowly tweaking them down and letting them continue to dominate the field at the expense of the majority of player's enjoyment. |

Project Reality - for one, and it worked out amazingly well considering that the driver focused on driving and the gunner focused on gunning. Tanks were insanely difficult to destroy in the mod but the maps were large enough to balance things out so that you weren't constantly pressed with the problem of them being on the field. |

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Why does Dust have to be like other games? If game developers were always afraid to try something different then we would be stuck with Magnavox Odysseys. Plus dropships have to rely gunners, as well as LAVs. And it makes sense, given their basic design and the real life equivalents (jeeps and transport helicoptors). And yes, I know it's just a game, there's no real life laser rifles, etc. Who cares?! You ask, 'why?', I and others ask, 'why not?' |

I think most of the nerfs to the tank are justified. A couple, will prob have to be reversed. They can be up for discussion, but separating the driver from a turret is pretty dumb. No discussion needed, it's pretty evident. |

why the **** are u guys comparing LAVs and Dropships which are transport vehicles to a FUCKIN tank? answer my question....when fighters get put in and MTACs u morons gonna moan and say u need 1 guy to operate the legs of the MTAC and 1 to gun? fighters gonna require 2 ppl? do jets in BF3 require 2 ppl? the attack chopper in BF3 has both pilot and gunner having guns, the transport chopper in BF3 is the Dropship...aka meant to transport troops and have 2 side guns different vehicle roles

I'm definitely looking forward to playing tonight if there is indeed much less tanks owning everybody effortlessly with no consequences.
Although I seriously doubt the tank nerfs are as bad as people let on. I'm sure I still won't be able to make a dent in one until I spec to the most advanced AV gun in the game, which would probably take me another 2 billion SP in skill upgrades. I'm still trying to make enough SP to pay for a L3 skill that allows me to use a shield extender that simply gives me 66 extra HP. |

honestly im still learning but def gettin much better at tankin and tank bustin other tanks with mine and so far iv not lost a tank in times i called it in tonight so far.
ive been hit with swarms and forge guns, but u know what? i had 1 or 2 of my buddies gunnin for me u know providing TEAMWORK to keep me up.
dont think the nerfs are as bad as ppl make them out to be , aggressive tankers prob mad tho cuz they cant just run right into a grp of ppl and own everyone but in no game can a tank do that so thats a GOOD nerf imo. |

ur a dumbass in BF3 a good tanker can still wtf pwn idiots, it takes teamwork in organised play to keep a tank up in BF same as it does in any other game
who dafuq is gonna skill into tanks and turrets and **** only to NOT use it and be a taxi? thats what the supporting gunner spots for.
a bad tanker will get taken out easy in any game a good TANKer will need some coordination from a squad to get down and he will need help to stay alive just like any other game
ur problem was with aggressive tankers and the OPness of the mods which got nerfed, makes no sense having main turrret seperate.
still LOVE how ppl avoiding the question of when MTACs and fighters come in if they gonna ***** how they cant solo everything and make them require 2 ppl as well
PS: its still same sort of QQin that made the heavy dropsuit useless and not feared anymore because ppl cried how they couldnt solo heavies straight up 100% of the time and it actually required some brainwork to get a heavy down 1st build |
