Require lock-on before they can be fired, increase the lock on time and drop the range some. We don't need "I win" buttons. |

Isn't that what they called tanks? :P
That said, after having played on all sides of the fiels, I can say this: tanks are dying way too easily atm, even the weakest swarm launchers are too strong, the Forge seems to be useable again, and armortank < shieldtank.
I spec'ced into tanks for the sole reason of having a decent AV weapon, but I'll be damned if, of all the AV weapons, we buff the Average Joe one. We have AV grenades, which require a 4x skill. We have Forge Guns, which require a 5x skill (heavy dropsuits) and a 2x skill, plus wearing a bloody heavy suit. Why do we buff the AV weapon that literally anyone can fit (and already has a free version of), rather than the ones that need some kind of specialist training (and investment/risk)? |

Actually, EVE is several thousand years in the future, in another galaxy, after a longass dark age of pure survival. Anything they can't do that we can can be attributed to being lost in the dark age. Like the art of building ladders. |

Why not, future tanks are slower and weaker by today's standards apparently. |

They have no ladders or functioning doors, nor so they understand how to gyro-stabilize vehicle mounted guns. If it isn't a blank check, then they bounced that sunnovakitten a long time ago. |

Plus it takes two shaped charges in more or less the same spot to puncture the armor and do any real damage. Fire a Swarm at an M1 and you may cripple it, but it won't really look worse for wear. |

And a Metis-M ATGM can knock out an Abrams with a hit directly to the glacis where our AT weapons take half a dozen shots or more. You really sure you want to go down the "What's Realistic" route?
Zero Harpuia wrote:Plus it takes two shaped charges in more or less the same spot to puncture the armor and do any real damage. Or just a tandem-charge warhead like the PG-29V the RPG-29 uses that penetrated the frontal ERA of a Chally 2 and that the US government feared so much they forbade the Afghan government from buying any. Future tanks have shields and nanite armor. So it should be able to take a few more hits. I wouldnt mind a low ammo count high damage dumbfire rocket launcher for tanks. BRING IT ON. As I've said before, don't nerf tanks, give AV more toys. |

No to a lockon before they are fired. If you let infantry get that close to you, you deserve to die.
Lockon time is fine where it's at. Locks break as soon as the target is obscured which is better than a few updates ago where you just need to start the lock then hide.
Range is good. Swarms need to be dumber but still a smart HAV can get away from most swarms anyhow. |

Somebody doesn't seem to understand EVE missiles. They are constructed from nanites as they are loaded, hence why so many can fit into such a small cargo space. They are also rather cheap and basic: Cost efficiency is the name of the game in a world where death is obsolete. You also seem to have your own idea about what nanites are, and if there were indeed 'hollywood acid' nanites fighting, then maybe we should have DUSTmotes 514 on the Vita for those engagements. The weaponry in New Eden is very similar to our own, but was not advanced as quickly as armor systems. Think of it this way, I can either improve my weapons until everything including myself dies in one hit and we all lose, or I can attempt to increase my nation's army's logevity by creating armor failsafes, shielding screens, and neural uplinks to reduce crew losses.
We already have EM missiles. We have explosive rounds. We just haven't implemented them on a minor scale yet. Remember, the revelation of the chip that allows DUST Mercs to survive their demise is new, and this Beta for DUST is in fact the trial runs for the man portable weaponry.

The solution to Swarm launchers is the infantry screen around that tank that you left behind in a cloud of dust. |

I just played the update and wow. Swarm launchers are just way too cheap especially since everyone is available to them. I took out a tank with three shots...that's just not right. Maybe if I had spent time and effort to spec into swarm launchers that would make sense, but not 3 shots. The tanks were already nerfed enough with this update, and I don;t feel like they should be picked on any more by noobs who know how to "fire and forget"
I really don't think they needed a 20% buff. At least not the militia ones.
Everything else seems fine. |

One tank could never solo an entire team that was worth their weight... The problem was that idiotic/ineffective teams were getting beat by 1-2 tanks, because they didn't properly adjust to the changed circumstances on the battlefield...
Every single time I drove a tank in the previous update... a team/squad working together was easily able to either kill more or force me off of the battlefield and in hiding to not lose my tank.

Just because several posts were made doesn't mean they aren't right. Ya, tanks were immortal. Ya, now they are pi+Ķatas. Ya swarms are WAY too effective. Just undo the damage buff and we will be fine. The other nerfs to tank resistance and whatnot are enough. |

So by your logic 1 or 2 people on your team should have had to make 6-10 people on anothers team play a role that they might not find fun or enjoyable just to be able to make those 1 or 2 people run away to repair? Oh and dont forget those 6 to 10 people will be dieing a lot if not by the tanks they are trying to kill then by the 5 to 8 other players that do not have to worry about death because their enemies are busy with a tank.
Hell if you guys want real life consequences here then that one tank will kill the entire enemy team because they would be fireing out of range of any infantry weapon outside of a laser designator which then would bring in the LGB's from the planes that the tank cant touch, which in turn wou........ you know what? That's a whole other game called Armed Assault and this is Dust 514, so why don't we let this become a fun and enjoyable game for all? It will take a lot of tweaking but I don't think anyone should be able to wreck hell on the battlefield with no deaths, we're supposed to die it's what makes it fun for other people as well.
