Immersion in a game can start with the sound effects. Hopefully the guns and theirs sounds gets improved to make the player say holy freakin crap a plasma AR wtf YEAH I WANNA FIRE THIS GUN or any gun here for that matter.
someone on this forum said "TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK". If the talking was diff ppl would communicate more. Its not just the communication inside ur squad, what about sqaud to squad or squad to platoon or whatever. I think u get my add on. The communication in MAG from platoon leader to squad leaders worked for the most part and made the squad leader immersed in his job JMO. Dont forget in MAG when the whole platoon knew its job it was a thing of beauty and SVER were the kings of revive. Everyone had a medkit and would run across the board to pick ppl up. If the logi cant comminicate with his potential pick up, why wait just press circle but if you heard "IM COMMIN MAN HOLD ON, ALMOST THERE" you just might wait.
Maybe the voice telling u get to the burnzone should also say to squad leaders set ur objectives. |

There will always be "Noobs". In every game that comes out, it's just that lack of action that most casual gamers have, if you've played any other FPS then this game should be easy, honestly i've been going 20-5 ish and im sure it we will all do CRAZY good when the game comes out and we feast on the non-beta testers. Just wait. |

This is possible but I am not so sure. Since we will have highsec and lowsec, which will in turn determine what gear we can field (so I have heard), killing nubs is going to put us roughly on the same field gear wise and if it is anything like EVE then you will see noobcorps that will operate in those highsec areas. That coordination will make it a bit tougher to farm the nubs.
When this thing launches the best thing someone can do, IMO, is get their kitten in a corp and work work work. 0.0 is the destination and has the greatest rewards. Besides, why farm nubs when you can just steal planets from EVE players? |

Dust is complicated compared to all other fps except maybe ps2. When you add in the server bugs etc, it can be really frustrating.

i have had my pass for 2 days . . i have not yet modified my heavy suit.. also skills are taking up alot of my time . but if i cannot fight up front adequately . i go to the back and drop nano hives for everyone . the best thing i did when i started was i sat back and watched what all the people in really nice armor with high grade weapons where doing.
that and i played two matches and played with my suits some. while in game its fairly simple take a point on the map . hold it until its yours them move on like capture the flag . .
when its just killing clones its death match .
skills work like tier unlocking in bf3 . but with more detail and hoops to jump trough.
after the second match i had everything down for battle .
its taken me a bit longer to go trough all the suits and vehicles .
i have come to hate PG and CPU requirements and skill need . i have super advanced swarm launchers that i got as loot ........ but i cannot use them  |

I love your rage. LoL. Feed me sniper tears lol. I could do another thread before my "tony's quick guide to skirmish." I could do one all about sniping, and how it's ineffective, KBM advantage, why people get killed with AR's when they're a sniper, that kinda thing. But I'd really rather concentrate on getting those who are actually going to the objectives, hacking them too. And getting there alive (mostly). |

You get there alive from Intel and covery fire from a sniper position.
What are you on dude? Sniper tears? Do you take drugs, son? C'mon man, what the hell do you know about tactical combat? Did you serve as a private in the military for 4 years? Think that makes you a master of tactical skirmish combat?
Maybe you don't get there alive very often because you're incorrectly utilizing the combat roles available to you. Perhaps you should rethink what you think you know about combat.
And lastly, what you did is considered hate speech. You wished a detrimental outcome (permanent death) on a specific class of persons (snipers) for nothing more than being what they are. Are you also a white supremacist from the deep south who attacks blacks and gays randomly for nothing more than being who they are? What do you stand for? In fact, the use of this class is so common that it's in almost every combat game out there. So, sir, I cannot wait to see your 'quick guide to skirmish', where you prove to the rest of the world that snipers just aren't very good and should have friendly guns turned on them at the sight of a sniper rifle. You sir are our enemy, but not just to us, your ideas are dangerous to humanity at large. The ignorant vitriol you spew only serves to prove my point.

ya old grump, u need to squad up with some vets, i hear these guys are good. if they are full my squads sometimes have a spot open, or we know good ppl who are LFS (looking for squad/mates) hopefully we get 6 man squads soon so the rumor goes. |

They need to change the default from "squad chat/listen to voice off" to "team chat/listen to voice on" even for those w/o mics. Having to remember to reset this EVERY time we restart eve is one of the reasons people aren't on chat if they don't organize a squad before they enter battle. |

D) How do I acknowledge a command from a squad leader? I've seen 1 or 2 requests to "Go to a point", but going there, waiting around did nothing, and the marker stayed there for the rest of the match.

Point is when FPS clans (such as STB) can actually roll in numbers I'll stop caring for randoms. I'm pretty used to playing against good players (like STB, EOS and nightmare) I'd just like the crappy ones to help. |

I am posting like crazy on the forums currently as I have the time to do so, but I'd imagine many others out there do not.
Until this morning I didn't know what a Nano Hive was nor a Drop Link.
If you are so upset by us Noobs, then start a thread advising Noobs on how to play........... have you, for example, posted in the 'Tips, guides and strategies' thread?

Apart from these forums there is scant information available and if you look at the forums I'd say only 1/10 threads are about learning. The rest are recruitment threads and complaints.

I'm not going to edit all of my comments, but I feel I should soften them a little as now that I am further through the thread I can see that you are clearly helping more than I initially though.
though, fact remains (not aimed at you), there is a lot to learn in this game.
For me getting even a little SP is proving tough as I am only getting around 2500 per game, which at that rate makes it impossible to progress. However, with tons of posting today I have learnt atlot and just need to wait for the Mrs and the little one to go out so I can test some of it

Also, I think one thing that EVERYONE needs to take into account, is that this game, due to its EvE connections, is attracting players that have never/rarely played a FPS.
I can speak first hand for this as I am one of them. The last time I played a FPS was for about 10minutes 15 years or so ago when my little brother beat me at DOOM. Called me scarred but after that I have no even looked at one since...... until now.
If this game is able to attract players from games as established as many of the ones listed in this thread, AND has the ability to attract new players to the genre...... then it is truely capable of being something very special.... much like EvE is.
However, we, I, need your help. Not only is this a new game for me, it's a new Genre and it's on a platform that is relatively new to me too.... (PS3, incase you were wondering).
I'm trying......... I honestly am....... so I can assure you, it's not down to that that I suck.

there is the other element that people might be missing. This is a beta and some people are testing. I know a lot of you are old here and have tried everything out, and probably think that doesn't need to keep happening. And some of you just got into the beta to play the game early.
But I'm new to the beta, I want to try all the kit combos I can think of to see what works and what doesn't for myself. So often I'm playing with an awful kit, unable to help and dying a lot, but still trying to make it work. I've hardly touched vehicles so when I do (damn the controls suck!) I crash a lot or get blown up right away. |
