Managed to get 5 games tonight, out of those only 2 where the team sort of worked well together out of those 2 only 1 used voice comms.
The other 3 were terrible tbh no supporting each other no communication every one every where. Who's to blame, we all were.
You need comms for it to work as intended but many seem reluctant to use it and for some one to take charge and give orders.
Thats why were bad and most of us are guilty. |

If you can sit still and kill 2 players or run across the map to attempt to hack something, you are almost always better off in terms of total SP yield by going for more kills.
The SP grind makes it worse. It seemed like far more people were going for objectives and actually trying to win when there were increased SP rewards.

Reason number 1: this game has a steep learning curve.
Reason number 2: loads of new players which is equaling feasting of older, more experienced beta players.
Due to reason 2 I don't think it should be right to keep the name of the topic. We should change it to why are noobs...well noobs? I fear this will lead to circular reasoning which has something to do with reason 1.
Lol I should not leave my reason 3 out though. Its because I'm just bad sadly.

Actually I would like to keep the title in the hope that more players like Staz explain why they don't help hack an objective ect. I'm not saying you shouldn't suck as a nOOb, I just want people to think about why... If I get time I'll do a "Tony tells you how to play : Skirmish" and understanding the mentality of people who haven't played FPS games before, or ps3. Like Tebow saying about soft definition TV's having a useless minimap. I'll change title a bit. |

Now that thread will be awesome and benefit all the new players. Your pointers I'm sure will be spot on.
I already see you are giving pointers here,so maybe my initial response was wrong too. I did only add the noob part to drive my point home about the learning curve.
With time to think I can add a 4th reason. People are playing very far away from the servers. My ping to europe was 245 and my ping to america was +400. Luckily the dedicated servers give you something to work with and after a few days you are leading targets. It is a brutal learning curve and first build I played tested my patience dramatically. I'm not a pro fps. My overall mw3 spm is 392 which would make me catapult any small clan into the top 10 board. Its not meant to be a brag + I know how much everyone here hates cod so I'll just get tuned for being a no skill snot nose. I just need to show that even experienced players will have a hard time when coming in late to the party.
Combine all 4 and you have a tragic recipe for what looks like noobness.

A few quick pointers to noobs:
Read Read Read!- there is a ton of info at your finger tips, don't rush into game blindly, read up and learn.
Speacialize- be good at something and don't spread out skills. Once you are good at one thing, then spread out.
Don't be afraid to ask questions- there are tons of know-it-alls in here, just ask and ignore trolls.
Teamwork makes the dream work- enough said.
Comms- get on it if you wanna be viable, also people that say noobs need to get mics, make sure that you switch from squad chat to team chat to better communicate.
Swarm Launcher have a lock-on- hold R1 instead of press and release line up vehicle or object in square wait and release. Stop shooting them at people won't do ish. And don't use the starter set up with heavy and swarm Launcher, worst build in game bar none. |

Answers please. I've had game after game where I am winning things for my team. Pick up the slack FFS. You forgot CCP gave you a radar, why don't you guys use it? I have sneaked up on so many enemies that should have known I'm there that it's not even funny. They see me and I go around them and it's like they assume that if I don't charge at them then I'm not going for them. And then there's people that think they can just run at me from behind even though I've seen them and they are on my radar possibly they're fighting on non HDMI which i learned a few days ago is a huge disadvantage, the radar blips just look like fuzzy blobs, no way to tell what direction they're facing My Tv is nearly as old as me, and I'm dropping nearly everyone I come across. |

this is another reason why tanks **** infantry (along with the lolavnerf) this is also why a small grp of good players can absolutely run train on an entire team of unorganised randoms teamplay is never present in pubs which is why i hate playing with randoms
Absolutely th^s. Without comms there is really nothing seperating one guy running around from another random guy running around. I don't believe people want to lose or they want to see their teamates get turned into target practice. Squading up is such a huge advantage in this game, but who's gonna want to run with players not using voice. I've been playing this game for 2 weeks. Because I run with a mic I've been able to meet players ad populate my contact list with guys I can squad up with. This has been hands down the biggest advantage I have found. I earn far more SP per match and get more kills/objectives simply because I gt a couple guys watching each others backs. |

Just stick with it. It's actually more like BF3 than you think. You'll do better when staying close to squad-mates. There's a lot you can do to be helpful, even aside from killing. Just like BF3, you can revive ppl (nanite injectors), you can repair tanks or teammates' armor on their suits (repair tool), you can throw down ammo for teammates (nanohives), you can pilot tanks, or go AV and blow them up (although AV in this game is less effective than BF...until they fix it) Skirmish is basically like Conquest in BF3. Only instead of just occupying an area until you have control of it, you have to find the console where the letter is, and hack it. (hold O) Instead of "ticket bleed" the longer you hold objectives, the faster the enemy's MCC (big ship in sky) gets blown up. |

yea i'm sure some can rock on a low def TV but i dragged my 37" vizio to a new location.. once u go HDMI it's hard to readjust back.
anyway new guys; random teaming sux.. the couple of non random squads are usually not on team chat, because they don't want to hear the normal team chatter which is usually noobs chatting about "this game, that game, DUST sniper rifles sucking, the nades arent like COD, bla bla bla.." or some a-hole epeening vet raging out while trying to roleplay as rambo (not pointing fingers at anyone here in this thread), which is probly the reason he's playing random games because no one wants him and his mouth in their squad despite his massive KDR; is why not many use team chat.
if u need a squad and we have a free spot i'm usually with some great players, my own performance can vary but i'm very squad/teamplay minded and have specced alot into squad based stuff like advanced droplinks/nanohives, and dropships
send me a mail i will get you on a good squad or if we have a spot i will put you in it. if your chill and willing to learn you can probly stay on it but understand it's difficult with only 4 slots per squad and we might have to let u go for a while to make room for someone else who we may have promised a spot before you, but it's nothing personal, usually. at least u can meet some other good players and probly squad with us or them again soon.. |

asia server has a limited roster, a couple of days ago we all started getting American server games.
Normally the limited player base on Asia server has made for great team work, people stick together and fight together.
Moving to the American server has been a hellish confusion. |

Forge is suicide until they sort out the explosive feedback. Fzzzz bang miss. Repeat until dead. Argh. I only use the basic swarm launcher. It's 20k sp well spent, and can suppress tanks far more effectively due to a larger clip. You'll still want hives and AV nades. And you'll still get laughed at by good tanks.
As for the running without a mic or alone, I quite often do both currently. It shouldn't be a problem. Certainly a disadvantage, but I like a little challenge. With 16 players on my team, why am I the only one calling in militia tanks. Dropships. Uplinks. Hives. Injecting. I don't repair because I don't have time :P I'm also exaggerating a bit. But only a little.
I guess the best piece of short advice would be that if you see someone doing something like hacking/dropping uplinks/throwing AV nades/reviving ect, think "why am I not doing that?" Then do it if you don't have a really good answer. (such as being dead).
Re:Group Hacking. Forget covering someone hacking an objective for 10seconds. Help them, and make it 5 seconds instead. If an enemy spawns it takes about 10 bullets to kill someone. Less than a second. This is assuming standard assault rifle just as an example. The best bet is to help hack, but face the opposite direction to your buddy. First one to get shot defends the other one :)
@Staz Your answers have been most helpful so far, other than covering at objectives, it sounds like you are going about things right. |

As for people not watching the radar, that's lack of situational awareness. It's something you can train, but it's not automatic for many. If people play a lot, they will improve and always keep an eye on the radar, I know I had to learn that as I'm not fps player normally. One thing that irritates me is that many medics don't try to revive even if there are fallen team mates right next to them and no enemy close by. Oh not, they will rather try to kill someone and miss out on the points for reviving. This might be because this game is still judging stats on K/D, so unless that changes I don't see this improving much. The score board after a fight should show how many WP you did and rank people based on that, that will make it more worthwhile to be in the medic role I think.

I have a problem with these squad based FPS games which results in me usually having the most out of balanced K/D in the game. I'm a squad / platoon leader. I charge in where others won't and I expect my men to follow me. While this works 99% of the time in BF3 with my platoon, the lack of cooridination, no, lack of basic cooperation at the squad level kind of kills Dust for me so far, but I am trying not to judge a beta. Running in is a hard habit to break, especially when I usually have at least one, if not two, dedicated medics per squad while in BF3. While storming enemy positions with fire and manuvers works in BF3 I have noticed its awe inspiring lack of effectivness in Dust when left without a coordinated team. My 'heroic' charges usually end in my expedient death, but in my defense I usually take at least one out with me, and I am quick to collapse on objectives in skirmish, but I will abandon them as soon as I finish, because as soon as I begin hacking it, it tells all those kill hungry savages on the other team all about it and the feeding frenzy ensues. I also do my best to avoid heavy vics at ALL costs as the splash seems to be impossible to get away from, like its a set value for splash radius instead of a degrading value that radiates out.
In the end though I die so many times simply because I'm an objective player, I work towards a team victory, not my name on top of a leader board. In the average game I will hack 3-5 objectives and various outlying resources, enemy vics if given the opportunity, and will quickly abandon defenses against a swarm so that I can get to an enemy held objective. |

Personally I get way more SP from filling in those support roles than when I go straight kill loadouts... I came from MAG, and it really saddens me to see so many CoD type players, teamwork in this game straight demolishes anything a single player can do alone... And just one more thing I hate... running to revive someone and they decide to respawn when I get within 10 ft of them... Randoms need more teamwork and more support roles
i question if u really came from MAG tbh seeing as MAG randoms were some of the worse for teamplay and judging how we got so many former MAG randoms here then yea seems about right.

It's just the easy way to describe the headless chicken approach in game play , you know the run and gun type, bugger the team I just want to shoot people.
This is what cod does best, trouble is this is an objective team based game that dosn't reward that type of play.

When squads are EIGHT or TWELVE then gee guess what?? Better team work when more friends squad up.
