Dear players,
As part of the initiative to keep you all better informed, we will be doing weekly updates on gameplay issues that are reported here on the forums. There will also be a separate post that will track bugs reported by players under the bugs/technical issue forum as well on a weekly basis.
Below are some of the gameplay issues that the dev team had discussion on earlier this week and planned actions.
Anti-Vehicle hotfix on 31st of August and HAV imbalance thread(s) A lot of negative feedback came from the hotfix we deployed addressing Anti-Vehicle nerfs (AV grenades 25% less damage, forge guns 25% less damage, 400m lock-on swarm launcher) as tanks were already very hard to eliminate since currently they are swiss army knife of DUST that doesnGÇÖt have to sacrifice anything in order to do very good damage and tank infinitely at the same time.
Planned resolutions: We will make adjustments to the HAVs on various fronts: better module balancing, reduced movement speed, cool down timer on remote reps will also be increased. - Undoing/reducing the recent AV nerf - We are also working on other anti-vehicle items such as EMP weapons, chaff, and webifiers. - We are also looking at increasing WP rewards for killing vehicles.
Other suggestions and requests [SUGGESTION] Award WP for Mobile CRU use in Vehicles - This feature is being planned [SUGGESTION] Judging distance on a minimap - This feature is being planned [SUGGESTION] Nanite injector - Bleed out timer - The gamedesign team will need time to figure out what is the best approach to implement this feature

The following topics were discussed by the dev team this week regarding gameplay issues in the beta:
Casual vs. Hardcore players in DUST 514
Player concern on how will casual players be able to keep up with hardcore players who might spend more time playing and gaining an advantage in SP and ISK.
Planned resolutions - A revamped reward system will narrow the gap between casual and hardcore players - Match Making system (introduced soon) will help put players into fair matches - Dropsuit HP will be more consistant to avoid some becoming overpowered
That's it for this week, the dev team has been working very hard to finish new features and fixes for the next upcoming patch, so expect more updates on the DUST 514 beta soon. |

The following topics were discussed by the dev team this week regarding gameplay issues in the beta:
Ambush GÇ£Default spawn pointsGÇ¥ still the biggest issue to players for this game mode Update: there are lots of fixes to address this issue (and its not just telling you guys to use more drop uplinks! )
Players dislike the wording of Basic Auto-Detonator Update: This item is not in-game yet and will not be a weapon that gets easy kills.
Other Suggestions and Feedback/Requests
[SUGGESTION] Effective range on weapons - A new feature that offers target intel will address this issue with effective range on weapons plus damage types and damage modifers.
[FEEDBACK] Why gunplay feels GÇ£offGÇ¥ (Sensitivity, ADS, POV, Grenade throwing) - There is an improved FPS system which will address many of the issues that should be in the next update.
[REQUEST] Item compare - This is planned for a later release, there will be a new tab to compare the current item with your favored one.
[FEEDBACK] Infinite missile tracking - Currently missiles do have a max range and life time, there will be more tweaks for this.
[REQUEST] Weapon customization: Subsystem, Rigging, Slots, or Add-ons - The design for this is ready, but it is a very large task to implement it in-game. Expect this at a later date.

Thukker Grenade - AUR Only item Update: We will introduce an ISK variant soon, our goal is not to have AUR only items in the game, ever.
GÇ£CheatingGÇ¥ or farming SP without risk Update: There is fix planned for this, the idea is that there will be a cap on total rewards that can be earned per match.
Other Suggestions and Feedback/Requests
[REQUEST] Reloading while running - This planned for in future updates
[FEEDBACK] Uneven hack times on skirmish objectives - Fixes to this is planned in future updates
[FEEDBACK] Logistics LAV balancing - Game Design team will take another design pass to improve the current design
[SUGGESTION] Every ambush map should have at least one supply depot - The level design team will be making adjustments and improvements to the maps in future updates

We're back from our holidays and below is the list of topics discussed by the dev team this week.
Massive strafing speed nerf debate Update: We will be making a dev post on the forums soon to explain this change in further detail.
WP Farming and Precision Strikes Update: We've already made some changes on how the repairing mechanism works, and all logistical rewards will encourage players to be more in the midst of battle. We also plan to implement a cool down timer on how often WP can be earned. WP requirement for precision strikes are increased as well.
[FEEDBACK] New weapons (Nova Knives, Laser rifles) Update: There's confusion about the laser rifle's effective range, we will address by improving the item description in the future, but know this: the laser rifle is very lethal at long range. The dev team will be making improvements to the nova knife to make it more useful in the near future.
[FEEDBACK] SP Cap/Diminishing returns change Update: The current plan is to change the SP cap from a weekly limit to a daily limit as an interim fix until we can properly re-examine this feature. We are also looking at the possibility of making the SP cap a "soft" limit rather than a "hard" limit so players can still earn a little SP even after hitting the cap.
[FEATURE REQUEST] Squad list on HUD Update: This is being planned in future updates.
[FEEDBACK] Swarm Launchers and their tracking/speed Update: A fix for this should be coming in the next patch/update.
[REQUEST] Password protected chat channels and channel rights Update: This is being looked into.

Lag on skirmish maps affecting the tournament Update: Until a permanent fix is in place we are looking at the possibility of pulling the 5 point skirmish maps out of rotation for now.
[FEEDBACK] Ambush spawn mechanic Update: The dev team will take another pass at trouble shooting the spawn mechanic in ambush mode
[FEEDBACK] Burning armor and damage Update: The threshold when armor begins to burn and take damage has been lowered. Expect future updates of this mechanic to include the use of damage control module to reduce the burn damage.
[FEATURE REQUEST] Squad advertising Update: This is something the dev team is planning to implement in future updates.
[FEATURE REQUEST] Corp armory Update: This is on the list of things to do in future updates.
[FEEDBACK] Diaries of a ninja knifer - more in-depth knife feedback Update: Improvements such as more damage for the nova knife will be coming soon. Further improvements will be done in future patches/updates.

The following topics were discussed by the dev team this week regarding gameplay issues in the beta:
Lack of AURUM items, SP boosters and the SP cap Update: The dev team is working on adding more AURUM related items and features. The dev team is also planning to change the SP cap to a daily cap.
Assault Rifles (Breach especially) - the ultimate weapons of DUST 514 Update: The recoil will be tuned up slightly as well as revisting optimal range for weapons in general in future updates.
[REQUEST] Scan Assists - more incentives for its usage Update: The dev team will be working on adding new features for the scanner in future updates such as adding more rewards for various gameplay.
[FEEDBACK] Skirmish game mode: old vs new Update: The old skirmish game mode had issues such as imbalance. The dev team will be discussing new designs on game modes and variations of ones in existance now. Expect new game modes in future updates.
[REQUEST] Hacking nanohives and drop uplinks to add battlefield dynamics Update: This idea will go on the list of features to be added in future updates.
[SUGGESTION] Additional end of game option - queue up for next match Update: This feature is planned in future updates.

The following topics were discussed by the dev team this week regarding gameplay issues in the beta:
Tournament - Brackets Update: We will be adding more variety to the way the teams are paired up in future tournaments.
Double SP Week Update: The hotfix deployment for double SP week did not go as smoothly as we planned due numerous deployments on Sisi and TQ. This caused players who have already hit their SP cap prior to last Thursday (Nov 1st) to not receive an increase in SP cap as planned. The SP cap will be reset after today's DT (Tuesday, Nov 6th) and the SP cap will be increased so players can gain double SP as planned. We will improve this process in the future to avoid conflicting deployment dates.
[FEEDBACK/ISSUE] Dropships and Missiles imbalance Update: A number of tweaks and improvements to missiles have been made and are planned for deployment in the next beta update/hotfixes. Some of the changes include improvements to missile tracking and speed stats, more tuning for the small and large missile turrets. Countermeasures are also planned for future updates.
[FEEDBACK] Laser rifle tweaks Update: More testing will be done on the laser rifle to solve the range issue and tuning the overheat mechanism.
[REQUEST] Quick draw skill Update: The dev team will put this into a list of features to be added in future updates.
[REQUEST] Bringing back restocking options from E3 build Update: The dev team will work on fixing this in future updates.

[SUGGESTION] Supply Depot Vehicle Module Update: The Game Design team will discuss the possibility of implementing this in the future.
[FEEDBACK/REQUEST] Change the Redline/Spwan zones for hi-sec/low-sec Update: The dev team are looking at solutions to this in a future release. In the meantime we welcome your comments to help us ID specific locations that are problematic on the map feedback forums.
[REQUEST] GÇ£Infantry-onlyGÇ¥ (infantry-friendly) maps Update: We have a few maps that are pro-infantry and will be doing internal testing before deploying them during the beta.
[FEEDBACK] SP Gains - too quick? Update: We will continue to monitor player progression during the beta. Our current stance is 2-3 weeks of heavy playing to gain access to one prototype class of items is reasonably long.
[FEEDBACK] Damage mods and their stacking penalties Update: The dev team will look into this and check the stats on damage mods with stacking penalties and skill bonuses.
[REQUEST/IDEAS] Active dropsuit modules ("superpowers") Update: The design team has a similar list and devs will be be responding to the thread discussing this here.

This week the dev team discussed the following gameplay issues and player feedback:
Additional Info on the Dust Voucher in Sony headset deals Update: Not all promotions are running on both NA and EU markets. The Sony headset promotion for example is not currently available in NA.
[REQUEST] More detailed building interiors Update: The current focus is to bring out more game mode variety but we do plan to have more building interiors and foliage, but most likely not until 2013.
[REQUEST] More Detailed Statistics (end of match / character sheet) Update: We plan to include more stats in the leaderboards later on. Expect a plethora of stats in future updates.
[FEEDBACK] Snipers and Experimental Sniper - feedback on snipers and their possible fixes in the future to make them more dynamic. Update: The dev team is working on improving the sniper recoil bug, expect that in later updates. We are also looking at sniper rifles with ballistics properties.
[REQUEST] HUD indicator while being repaired Update: A fix for this is planned in later updates.
[REQUEST] Chat available also during loading Update: This is possible but requires a lot of work. We will have to balance current workload and then determin when this can be done.
[REQUEST] Game time clock & countdown timer Update: Possible to add in later updates.
[REQUEST] Swarm launcher - distinctive variants Update: There is work being done on a new type of launcher system that is very distinct from the swarm launcher and will require more skill to use.

This week the dev team discussed the following gameplay issues and player feedback:
[SUGGESTION] High Orbit Pulse Scan - revealing enemies where they are for a short period of time Update: Features like this are something we will be looking at for the "Commander" role. We also have an improved active scanner that will be out in a future update that will fill this gap on the squad level.
[SUGGESTION] Anti-Vehicle turrets - turret variation Update: We are working on clearer definition of roles for turrets, including anti-vehicle specializations. We are also experimenting with mounts that will allow the use of infantry weapons. However, additional testing/balancing is required.
[REQUEST] Variation of the current LAV - LTV (Light Transport Vehicle) Update: We have some ideas for a module that when fitted would make vehicles be similar to an APC. Although for now our focus is to optimize existing vehicles.
[REQUEST] Low ammo icon, nanohive carrier symbol, and ammo requests Update: The dev team will be looking at how to implement this in future updates.
[REQUEST] Mortar-like weapons Update: We have a design that will give the Mass Driver a secondary fire mode that is very similar to a mortar and other designs for "area of effect" weapons as well. For now we are focusing on imporving existing weapons first.
[FEEDBACK] Gameplay: gunplay, movement, and ADS Update: In our next update there are a number of improvements to the controls in and out of ADS including new sensitivity tuning options. We will be doing more work on this and making improvements to the aim assist system in future updates.

Active skill boosters - SP cap limit and how it works with active skill boosters Update: There will a hotfix this month that will increase your active SP cap when using the active skill boosters.
[REQUEST] Flight ceiling too low Update: The dev team will evaluate the flight ceiling to determin a more optimal height.
[REQUEST] SP rate indicator and clone fatigue - a simple indicator for the SP earning rate together with clone fatigue penalty Update: Part of the hotfix to be deployed this month will add this.
[SUGGESTION] Kills, assists, teamwork, & rewards - reward players based on amount of damage done Update: Design team will be reviewing the gamplay/rewards mechanic and plan improvements.
[REQUEST] Longer matches Update: Part of the long term goal with the soon to be introduced new game mode variations. For now, expect the match times to remain the same.
[SUGGESTION/REQUEST] Hackable bridge's door's and other possible defense/offense mechanism Update: Interesting idea for the dev team to explore in future updates.
[REQUEST] Supply depot countdown timer when switching suits Update: The dev will look at implementing this in future updates.

[REQUEST/SUGGESTION] Bringing drones to Dust (outside PVE) Update: We do have plans for this, but we will first need to polish the drones feature for PVE.

[FEEDBACK] UVT now mandatory for Corporation chat Update: A more streamlined design is in place, we will be improving how UVT works.
[FEEDBACK] SP Daily Cap concerns Update: We will be deploying a hotfix this week to correct the SP cap issue.
[FEEDBACK] Ambush spawning in Chromosome - spawning next to enemies Update: Possibly casued by shorter combat range on maps. More testing planned on optimizing spawn points to counter this.
[FEEDBACK] HMG GÇ£Doom modeGÇ¥ aim down sights Update: The dev team is working on more weapon aim transitions for the next patch.
[REQUEST] Dropsuit signature profile in the fitting stats Update: We are planning to expand the fitting UI and allow more stats to be shown.

[FEEDBACK] GÇ£NewGÇ¥ SP System - boosters and AFK farmers Update: The skill booster will increase your SP cap so you can gain more SP per day. The design team will be discussing how to implement the full SP progression design this week and we will keep you posted on its progress.
[FEEDBACK/SUGGESTION] Making Inertia Dampeners tactical Update: Great idea. The dev team will put this on to their backlog and plan for its implementation in future updates.
[FEEDBACK] Re-adjusting heavy dropsuits Update: Balancing work on dropsuits are ongoing, and we will keep you posted with future updates on the results.
[FEEDBACK] Aurum: Do you get enough bang for your buck? Update: We will be introducing more AUR items offering more pricing options in the coming weeks. One of the planned introductions is a 30 day active SP booster with lower pricing. We are also working on implementing the "paint bucket" system that will offer more visual options for dropsuits.
[REQUEST/SUGGESTION] Squad leader HUD icon, squad names/locations on HUD Update: We will be implementing more HUD features in the next update and there will be constantly improved upon.
[FEEDBACK] Secondary Market Update: We are working on this feature and realize that it's very important. The complexity of implementing this system successfully, does require a longer lead time, but expect this feature to be in-game SOON TM.

[FEEDBACK] The current Dust FW System: Needs more player incentives Update: We will be adding more features to the Factional Warfare system in DUST in the next update, and we will discuss these features in more detail in a dev blog on this topic.
[FEEDBACK/DISCUSSION] BPO Items: Should they be removed entirely? Update: Militia gear is meant to help rookies to get on their feet when they first start out. We are making changes on the militia BPO prices and will be monitoring player feedback.
[REQUEST] Better direction indicators on the minimap Update: This will be put on the UI team's backlog.

[SUGGESTION/REQUEST] PvE game mode: Salvage Update: We like the idea. There is design in place for this PVE game mode which is very similar to this specific player request. Possible candidate for one of the future game expansions.

[REQUEST] Target painting Update: We like the idea and something similar will be coming in the future.
[SUGGESTION] Idea for preventing red zone abuse Update: Game design team will discuss overall ideas around this issue.

[REQUEST] Reintroducing "one and only" game mode Update: Dev team agrees with players and this map will be coming back in the near future.
[REQUEST] Certificate System, Teaching players to play better Update: We are definitely planning on improving skill progression and motivation behind character progression.
[SUGGESTION] Revival System Improvement Update: Dev team likes these ideas and will implement some changes to the call for help system in the upcoming content patch as well.
[FEEDBACK/REQUEST] Removing "spawn traps" and adding more spawn points Update: All spawn points are being reworked. This change will be coming soonGäó.

Here's this week's update on issues and suggestions that the dev team discussed.
[FEEDBACK] Thoughts from a humble underpaid pilot - making the dropship more fun to fly. Update: collision models are being improved and new features for the dropship are being planned.
[REQUEST] Skirmish 1.0 - bringing back multi-stage skirmish mode. Update: We are not against multi-stage skirmish game mode, and are thinking of ways to implement this in more effective ways.
[FEEDBACK] New matchmaking changes on 2/18/2013 causing longer queue times. Update: This is done to improve the balance of teams in a public match. As the server population increases the wait time should decrease.
[FEEDBACK] Reloading animation fixes and improvements Update: Fixes for this are coming in the next update.
[FEEDBACK] AFK SP Farming Update: We are looking at implementing an anti-idle system to solve this.

[FEEDBACK] Target data clutters view when in sniper scope mode. Update: The dev team is planning on improving how target data is displayed for a future release.
[FEEDBACK/BUG] Laser Rifles: broken skills - some Laser Rifle related skills are non functional. Update: This will be fix in the next update.
[FEEDBACK] Sensitivity acceleration: controls feel off without it. Update: The dev team is working on refining/tuning the control sensitivity.
[FEEDBACK] Controller and Kb/m gap - balancing the two control schemes. Update: The dev team will compare turn speeds with kbm and controllers for both infantry and vehicles to see if there are inconsistancies. We are also planning to introduce Matchmaking improvemtns that will take controller input into account.

Here's this week's update on issues and suggestions that the dev team discussed.
[FEEDBACK] New spawn mechanics and new spawn locations Update: We are working on improving the spawn system and spawn points further.
[REQUEST] Adding invert option to X axis Update: Possibly implemented some time in the future.
[REQUEST] Logout option Update: This is being worked on, will be introduced in future updates.
[FEEDBACK] Damage mod stacking and tank railguns Update: We are actively working on balancing and number tweaking GÇô there are known bugs regarding damage mods stacking and numbers displayed on the fitting screen. Tank vs Tank combad is being looked at and worked on for the next update.
[REQUEST] Add to Squad from chat menu Update: We like the idea and will consider for the future updates.
[FEEDBACK] Mass Driver horizontal damage frame Update: The splash is spherical right now, but this will be tested further and fixed if needed.

[FEEDBACK] Small Scale Conflicts for New Players. Update: This is something we are looking at implementing, but will take time to work out the details.
[REQUEST] Never ending game mode. Update: Good idea, but we will need to solve tech limitations to this first.
[FEEDBACK] How to make menus more user-friendly. Update: We have started work on revamping the menu system.
[FEEDBACK] Grenadier needs to do something other than just unlocking grenades. Update: This should get changed in the next build update.
[FEEDBACK] Fixing Tanks Part 4: The Marauder class. Update: Vehicle balancing is ongoing and changes implemented in future updates.
