So I have been playing this game since the first round of beta codes went out to EVE players. I have been an EVE player since '08, I only say this to give added validity to my statement. I have more or less enjoyed the beta (with it's numerous faults because I have caught the vision of what this game has the potential to be. I even bought a merc pack. I really do love CCP, but as of tonight.... the game has become broken to the point that I don't want to play anymore, at least until it is fixed. The corp battles changed the paradigm in the game. The incentive to win got a lot of people to pull out all of the stops and actually spend isk in large amounts, not caring if they lose money as long as they win. Tanks became not only commonplace, but it became abundantly clear that there have been heavy nerfs to av . This opened pandora's box, and players realized that short of someone speced into protoforge or proto swarm, and they lived long enough to get the required number of shots off, and you had a resupply depot or nanohive available (cause it can take more than the amount of shots in the gun) ... tanks were immortal killing machines only killable from another tank. Now, every game I join has 6-8 tanks in it and even if I get into my forge gunner suit and start to try to do something about it, I get one-shotted before I can take one of them out I used to have a forge gun build called tank buster, and that is all it really did... and that was ok. It took a few shots but tanks feared (as they should) a forge gun but as for killing infantry, not so much. If infantry died it was because they stood still and didn't kill me in the time it took me to charge my gun. It was balanced because all it took was the tank to run or infantry to attack me and I was in trouble, now a tier 1 assault forge gun does considerably less damage than a militia swarm launcher. I hope CCP fixes this soon because I am willing to bet that the average gamer, who has yet catch the vision of the future, will give the game a second chance. |

Have to agree - Ive even started boycotting games where tanks are deployed. (just because its no fun and I play for fun) |

.... on the plus side, I really enjoyed the no holds barred corp battles today. I actually got to fight with the EU and US, and it was pretty bad ass to see both sides fielding the best they can afford in order to win. It had a completely different feel than just a normal game. There was an urgency and stress level that you normally only get in battlefield except more so because losing means you may lose your chance at the prize and the isk you spent was wasted. |

Although I pretty much completely agree with what you're saying, I think it's important to remember that this IS a beta. I know people get tired of hearing that, but in this particular instance I think it's warranted. CCP have already stated that it's a "temporary" tweak for testing purposes. As long as it's being done for a reason I think we should cut the devs some slack. If you're not having fun with it while they test whatever they need tested, just take a break for a week until they're done doing what they are doing. Your character will still be here, and you'll still get to participate in the beta... even if you don't play for awhile. I just don't see why it's necessary to get all riled up over beta testing a game you signed up to beta test.
Again, don't get me wrong, tanks are outta control. If they don't realize that by now, yet another rant from Dust User 42517 isn't going to persuade them. |

If you really hate the things, you'd be better served just running right to them repeatedly and letting them kill you. If enough people did that the numbers would start skewing even further in favor of tanks. If tanks start getting 70 kills a round CCP would probably have to nerf them. |

Or they'll think they've discovered the heretofore untapped Masochist gaming market and buff them further.

Yep tanks are OP some say they are ment to be so and if thats the case dont you agree they should at least be more expensive?
50% of the matchs I play in now I'm getting over 200k isk. Thats a new loltank every 3 games and I normaly loose a tank to the redzone or a crash every 20 or so.
Tank lovers all said this was bull and I got called all sorts when I said my bit on tanks.
If life is so hard for a tanky like myself then how could I spawn 6 sarg and 5 gunlog into the corp battles for all to use?
You wouldnt even wana hear about how much more SP we are getting.
This game is just gona be one big tank battle at this rate.
Hope they get nerfed or have the price hiked big time because I would like to go back to holding a gun in my hand.
Till then beatings will continue |

I think that tanks are fine but AV sucks. 2-3 people with AV weapons should be able to kill or drive off a lone tank. |

i also love how tanks don't show up on your radar unless someone sees it.....why do I, a human without a sweet dropsuit have more situational awareness then my merc? Why is my mercs only sense for identifying positions sight? echo location much?...nope a tank can run me over and I would never know that he was there. |

that almost makes sense, because if we have sweet sensors, they have sweet abilities to counter sensors, if you don't hear the tank behind you... you kinda deserve it. That is the reason squads are becoming more and more important

Not that I see Dust 514 dying from any changes by CCP. At the end of the day for eve null corps it will be vital. The only question is will the game be niche or broad? |

You can hear the tank, but without surround sound you cannot pinpoint it, if i were there and not my merc I could pin point the tanks location due to it's sound....unless it was in my "cone of confusion" but even still i'd have a good idea where it came from...I am not talking about sweet sensors, i am talking about the human senses. |

The all out Nerf on infantry is bull. A good advanced suit has a CHANCE to get close enough to damage a tank. With all suits reduced to militia stats I just cba to play until something major changes.
Apparently there are stasis mines on the way. I can't seem them doing a lot with 4 tanks driving about with splash damage ect. Back to playing Black Prophecy. |

Just fought a Surya, droppped a nano hive and threw every AV grenade i had until the hive ran out, had a forge gunner standing next to me shooting it as well, one guy standing on top of the tank shooting it, swarm missiles were hitting it.
It didnt even need to move, it just shrugged it off, killed a few guys and drove off.
This is the first time i have seen maruaders in this build, if they are all like this, this game just became pointless, In the previous build with full proto un nerfed AV weaponry marauders were moblie fortresses scared of nothing, this build they will be as gods with the mere infantry scurrying around like ants. |

Agreed.
Personally tough, I think AV-builds should be able to take down a dedicated tank driver even alone. Sure not with the current ridiculous tank prices. But I don't think it would be wrong to mimic a bit of the Battlefield 3 tank balance, where tanks are both vulnerable to AV but still a great asset for a team.
If CCP wants to give us supremely effective overpowered vehicles, they should make a game mode where team 1 defends a mobile fortress and team 2 tries to take it down within the time limit.

You're missing the point. We can't test the relative strength of AV vs vehicles if no one plays vehicles, and that's why they would modify AV temporarily--so we can test it.
Betas are not for having fun, they're for testing. So just because something is "unfair" or "broken" doesn't mean we should stop using it.
I personally haven't driven an HAV since the last build. I don't even have an HAV fitting. |
