I'm sick of all the 'over-powered' complaints. While some of these are valid, most seem to be people crying because they lost a few matches. So I thought, "What if we had some 'under-powered' weapons?" Do you have any ideas? Let's hear them! They can as serious or as crazy as you want. The only rule is that the weapon cannot directly cause damage to shields or armor. This includes detonating munitions (that is over-powered, in my opinion). Here's my idea: 'Discord' Sniper Rifle This rifle fires darts that can be programmed to have different effects. Instead of a magazine it has a revolving cylinder, with each chamber set to upload a different program. Higher levels = more chambers. The user gets to choose which program goes to which chamber. The upload time depends upon the complexity of the program. The effects last until either the dart's battery runs out, it is removed by a Repair Tool or it is destroyed (hope your friend is a good shot) Programs currently available: Poltergeist A remote hacking dart. Can be used on objectives and unattended enemy vehicles/turrets. After you sucessfully hack a vehicle/turret you can control it by remote. 'Please Kick Me' Broadcasts a Squad Attack order on enemy comms. If target is destroyed by the enemy (or the target destroys it's teammates), you get the points. 'They're All Out to Get Me' Causes the target's dropsuit to tag all players, vehicles, turrets, Nanohives, Drop Uplinks and objectives as the enemy. You get the points for any damage/hacks the target does to it's team. Malpractice Causes the target's Equipment to work in reverse: Repair Tools deplete armor, Nanite Injectors kill, Nanohives deplete ammunition and Drop Uplinks work for the opposition. Once the Nanohives and Drop Uplinks are deployed in this state, they remain that way. You get points for all damage caused by the target's Equipment. Plastic Surgeon Want to see something strange on the battlefield? How about Barney? A Teletubby? Or Pacman? This dart projects a simple hologram over the target that is not visible from inside, so the target won't know it's been hit. No points for this one, just something to make people say 'WTK?' (What The Kitten?) If your team destroys the target while it is being affected by any dart you get a kill assist.

It would be like the forge gun, but have the effect of trapping or slowing down enemy players. This weapon would be nonlethal.
Caldari tech -Antipersonnel stasis webifier: Reduces the maximum speed of an enemy merc by employing micro energy streams which effectively entangle the target temporarily, thereby slowing it down. Would be actvated by aiming one's hand towards an enemy.
Gallente tech -A group of spherical flying drones that orbit the player and generate a slight shield boost. When the player designates a target by aiming a non-lethal laser at an enemy, the drones move towards and fly around the enemy to do some light continuous shield damage, and distract. |

Explain to me how you conclude that a weapon designed to cause confusion and disorder would be underpowered? OP specifically asked for suggestions of "under-powered" weapons.
Nerf gun fights would be a good training mode.
And if you repaint them, Nerf guns actually look like they'd fit in most sci-fi universes.
Take a look at these:

Explain to me how you conclude that a weapon designed to cause confusion and disorder would be underpowered? That's the idea. Most of the 'over-powered' complaints I've read are about some weapon/vehicle being too strong when, in reality, it's just a skilled player taking them out. The weapons in this thread are not meant to cause any physical damage. Therefore, they are 'under-powered' in that sense, but can cause damage in plenty of other ways. A weapon is only as good as the person using it. |

Well it wouldn't kill anyone since it won't touch armor at all, only shields, so non-lethal. The weapons in this game really are boring, mostly just standard FPS things (assault rifle, SMG, sniper rifle, grenade launcher, ec). Weird, unconventional, and non-lethal weapons would really spice things up and keep things from getting boring. |

Yeah, I get that, but It still qualifies under the real definition of non-lethal (not capable of causing death). I suppose the shield damage isn't necessary since it can still perform as a good distraction. Maybe they can drain enemy stamina instead, or fire glaring lights into the eyes/cameras of the enemy. |

Oh, we are being serious now are we? Well I just had another ideal...
Hologram Grenades - grenades that you throw which react to the environment & give off a grenade indication but do absolutely no damage & uses up no PG/CPU, taking up only the explosive slot of a dropsuit fitting. The purpose of this grenade would be soley to "freak people out" & cause them to leave cover, blindly run forward into gunfire thinking the grenade is going to kill them anyway, or run away in fear of The BEST Bluff ever, lol.

CreoDron Holo-decoy:
Grenade slot item, max ammo 1-2 High CPU usage, typical "grenade" PG usage Isk cost comparable to primary weapon
A small autonomous drone that when released creates a holographic duplicate of the user. The drone/hologram will "sprint" in a straight line and turn in a random direction when hitting an obstacle. The decoy lasts for 10-30 seconds (higher tier decoys last longer) or until destroyed by gunfire/splash damage (but it has an irritatingly small hitbox). The enemy team will always see a red enemy marker above the decoy and on the minimap from the moment it is deployed, even through walls. |

Foam Bomb: This device already exists in EVE lore. What it does is essentially create a block of foam as hard as concrete, wherever you throw it. If a player is in the detonation, they become encased for a short time before their dropsuits shatter it - a good opportunity for a buddy sniper to hit the head! If it doesn't hit a player, it acts as deployable cover!
Spoke Bomb: This device also exists in EVE lore. Designed for breaching, this sticky grenade has a core made out of pure Tritanium, which is arranged into bicycle-like spokes. When the grenade exposes the core to air, the Tritanium explosively re-arranges its structure into a large circle of more benign metal, framing a hole made in whatever material was unfortunate enough to next to the bomb. Not exactly non-lethal, but it's not intended to be used on a human anyway (*wink* *nod*). |

Thruster Cannon - aka 'The Bouncer' An antique piece of zero-g mining/salvage equipment that received a Minmatar makeover. The thrusters were originally used to move large rocks/chunks of wreckage; simply attach to the object and activate the thruster. Refuel and repeat. Not very efficient, but cheap. Mordern technology has rendered them obsolete for their intended use, but an inventive Minmatar found a way it could be weaponized. The thrusters have been given the same homing capabilities of AV grenades and are dumbfired from a modified mass driver (slightly larger, with three large chambers). Once they attach to a surface the thrusters ignite. They are strong enough to change the direction a vehicle is traveling, either making them lose control or even bringing them to a stop. They have also been used to forcibly remove infantry, which is how it earned it's nickname. An incindent involving a merc irritated with redzone snipers on his team has lead to experiments in using the cannon to quickly move friendly infantry and vehicles across the battlefield. But while inertial dampeners can be activated during 'flight', there is still a serious risk of collision damage with obstructions, so progress has been slow. |

Repulse Cannon:
A focusing and miniaturization of forcefield technologies that protect everything from starbases to dropsuits, the Repulse Cannon was intially designed for non-lethal riot control.
When fired it generates a force field wave across its horizontally wide muzzle and fires that wave from its muzzle in a cone pattern that loses cohesion with distance. Although relatively short ranged the wave can knock rioters off their feet from the sudden impact. The system must then recharge and generate a new force waveform before firing again.
Note: Don't be standing on something tall, like a building, if you are hit by a Repulse - the knockback effect taking you off your feet, and off the building, can be quite ugly for the unprepared. |

This "weapon" is nothing more than a simple "sound-laser" speaker, that is only audible to the person it's aimed at. Harmless, right? Wrong. The audio recording is designed to sound like frenzied voices in the victim's head, driving the unfortunate soul crazy - and reducing their combat effectiveness. Of course, the weapon is sufficiently long-range that the transmitting device isn't visible to the victim either. Most maddening of all?
