Um....so I've been a dropship pilot in the past two builds....what...the hell...is with these new controls? >_<
I get that you don't want people squishing with Dropships, I can respect that. But....it's like flying a ******** weather balloon that refuses to listen >_<
I have no idea how to make the damn thing go straight, or left, or right, without doing a full flip. I spent a full minute just trying to make the damn thing accelerate forward, only to finally bump my nose against the ground and go from full shields and armor to dead......I get that you want players to have "skill" to pilot the things, but you shouldn't have to be a dropship charmer to get the god damn things to listen.
So, add these absurd "controls" to the fact that dropships are pretty easy to kill, then couple that with this HUGE up in cost...and I'm curious just where Dropships fit in right now. I'm guessing DS pilots STILL don't get too many skill points at all, though I can't tell cuz I can't seem to get the god forsaken thing off the ground without it just exploding on its own.
I'm not looking to be a lone wolf DS pilot. I just want to drop people off and provide a good platform for my gunners....but, there's literally no reason to dump the insane amount of SP and ISK into these poor poor mockeries....I dunno. Maybe some of you guys have some tips for flying these things, but as it stands, it's at least three times less enjoyable to fly than it was last build...well, to crash anyways, since that's all I can seem to do anymore >_< |

I haven't set foot into a DS since the update. When I see how they even struggle to keep themselves in the air I'm certain they are just expensive deathtraps.
I do feel sorry for them when I take them down with a militia swarm launcher though. Poor guy, kept himself in the air for almost a minute without crashing... |

before the reset, I played a fair amount with them and successfully did a "loop de loop/back flip" and landed them without crashing and such.. but yeah they are needing some love, or at least a ton more shields/armor to be useful imho.
a floaty armored hot air balloon could be a solution I guess, but it's not what I had hoped for. |

IMO, CRU's are really only good for increasing the likelihood of getting a gunner. I wish the Eryx and Promethius didn't have them built in, and compensated the ships with the CPU/PG and slot used. It's bad design to do both a CRU module and a built in CRU vehicle. It's like having a built in shield repper that you can't swap out, yet have to pay for in lesser fit. |

Totally agree 100%.
Ccp if you're reading this guys, tweak the dropship controls to be something more similar to bf3 chopper controls. Reason being is alot of people who play dust have also played bf3......so they will be familiar with the controls from the get go. |

That's like changing vehicles controls to BF3. Accelerate & Brake please :D I've done half a mil on drop ships. The biggest problem for me is that they seem to "hook" on objects when you land. Makes taking off seem like someone should film it & send it to "you've been framed" |

Really? I didn't find the new controlls that hard to learn, it just takes a precise hand on the left stick - small inputs are the key.
New price on the otherhand places them outside of the range of what I'm willing to spend on something that dies easier than a scout dropsuit. |

I haven't seen a single DS in the sky since the reset. I doubt that's what CCP intended, but who knows. The game is less rich without them, less tactical and somewhat boring. |

at 100K a pop for the militia dropships, it's going to be awhile before you see many of them, takes a little bit to earn the isk to be able to watch your dropships burn as you become a skilled pilot. |

put simple the current controls make it impossible not to get shot down, and the costs to effort to fly the dam things is not worth it, i have no problem the costs reaming so high but please revert the control as soon as possible, or at least let us remap the controls, as it stands right now as dropship can full-fill its function due to the fact its very hard to fly in a straight line, land or just move about. the moment you get hit with a forge gun you can just kiss your ass goodbuy as you fight to recover the controls.
( note i personal have no problem with the last bit if the controls ment i was not fighting a loseing battle)
in short new controls are awful please revert, i don't remember their being a strong request to have them changed anyway, as dropships were easy to counter, it was just the draw distance casing problems |

last build they were really "magnetized" and needed some wiggling to break the lock. I haven't noticed this as much, but I assumed it was a clutch to help people stay landed. |

one reason is that swarm launchers can lock from like a mile away. |

They are fly able but with the faster.locking swarms it is.to late to get away since you have 3 more coming be before you start moving from the first one. Doing a barrel roll doesn't dodge or reduce the.damage even tried an loops no dodge. So unless they give a hint to how to dodge swarms then pffftt. |

Im oddly appauled by the lack of LAV squishing complaints.
Anyways somone else experimenting in IRC found out that dropships with armor plates are unflyable. |

My current issue is that for something that can be killed in literally three seconds, you have to pay 135k or more. I would rather be able to buy a BPO, even if it cost, say, 600k, and go from there. With the new controls, DS's are more of a support craft than ever, and putting such an outrageous pricetag on it just discourages team play. |

No, it discourages dropship spamming. When we start seeing larger maps and proper squads dropships will find a role. |

lol the new controls are a pain but once you can get it to go forward like I have and you keep it up you can survive at least 1 set of swarms besides my viper has 2300 shields and the swarms don't take it down in one shot to begin with hell you guys should have seen some of the things that have happened to me on the viper some hurt like hell but others were funny as hell and most gunners have fun with me til someone finally catches me with a **** up on my part and I die well crash I normally get out before that :p
you can learn the controls but they tough and anouying and if you want any hints on how i do it just ask |
