Hi all, recently it has come to our attention that some people have a few misconceptions about us, and not everyone will want to go the the 11th page to see this post so here is the new betamax recruitment thread.
Betamax is a corporation founded on the ideals of independence and competition. We believe Dust514 is a game and should be played for fun with your interweb friends.
A board of directors is in charge of Betamax to distribute responsibility and workload. Every member has a voice and a say when it comes to direction.
One of our strengths is our diverse background as players. We are EvE, MAG, COD,BF3, console, PC players that are all here and work together and strive to be the best. We welcome all player backgrounds and ages (including guys that know what punch cards are).
We have a presence is US/EU/AU zones and plan to field competitive teams for contracts and E games in each. There are already plans to field a team at FanFest in 2013. We look forward to the pub crawl and whatever Dust514 competition CCP has in store for us (preferably after about 3pm in afternoon)
Betamax will support every game play option that CCP includes in Dust514. So if you are a causal public play that wants to squad up with some fellow corpies you have a place with us. If you want to participate in Faction Warfare you will find other corpies to roll with. If you want to compete in corp vs corp matches you will have very expierenced leadership, skilled teammates, and full financial backing from Betamax. If you are a tournament player you will find fellow corpies to compete with once it is supported in game.
We realize that you guys have real life friends, fps buddies, or existing EvE corpies that you want to play dust with. This is something we support and welcome. It makes our corp stronger and doesnGÇÖt keep you from your chums.

We now are running fundraising prize draws where people can win Betamax apparel and PSN cards!
We are also looking at expading our frontline squad called the steamroller squad. With some of the best players in the beta, they will be our hardcore primary force with Omnipotent Zitro in charge of deciding who gets in.

Kind of loses that personal touch when you gotta go through a process to join a group of like minded people for gaming pleasure. I am sure we will be absorbed at some point, but I think for the whole beta process I shall remain the outlaw that I am. |

You've never tried to join an EVE corp before I take it? Some corps have a 20some question questionnaire and a mumble (voice) interview. |

I have never played EVE that is why I say clan and not corp....clans are like family, all warm and loving, nuturing, and just fun to play with. Corps are cold and greedy, only looking for self gain.... |

On a serious note most of my fps exp has been with small clans so I can understand the love for them. I hope that small clans/corps thrive and find a place in dust. Remember all you need is enough to fill one side of the match. Doesn't matter how many the other corp has because you can only play 12/16 at a time.
If it doesn't work out for you give us a try. Having leaders in Betamax that understand FPS clans/groups/friends is important and why we consider recruiting a group of friends not just the best player.

If you want to be in the top end Steamroller squad, you will need a mic, otherwise as long as you can listen to communication thats the most important thing. |

Most corps I've seen ether require one to join or you are limited to where yo can get within the corp. But hey, it's only the one's I've seen. |

Its similar in betamax, if you cant use a mic then its unlikely that you will become a squad leader. These days mics are very cheap anyway |

Honestly, I'm doubt I'm skilled enough to be in your best squad anyway, and I won't be going for a squad leader position. I'll send in an application, and see about getting a mic. |

Neato. I've found that you don't necessarily need everybody talking for the more laid-back games. As long as you have a good 2 or more in a squad spitting out where to go and calling out enemies, if everyone else can hear them and sticks together, you don't run into too many problems. We've been running the 4-man squads pretty regularly, and there's generally only 2 or 3 that are actively talking the entire match anyway in the ones I've been in, so if you've got comms turned on and listen at least, you'll be that much more effective. |

Clans do not need operational security.
They do not need to be careful who they give corp wallet access to.
They do not have a corp hangar where people with rights can potentially access billions in assets.
They do not have spies that take months or years to get in position.
Do not let your judgement of the real world meaning of corp cloud your understanding of what an eve/dust corp is. Corp and Clan are functionally the same - a group of like minded people able to communicate within the game and set objectives and long term goals for the group.
But be wary, some (a VERY small percentage) will manipulate game mechanics for their own ends. There are any number of corps in eve designed to scam newbies by claiming it is normal for corp tax rate to be 25%. ie corp gets 25% of any financial transaction other than cash transfers.
But on the other side well run corps are an absolute godsend. Their directors can de driven and work tirelessly to make the game as easy and fun as possible for their members. PvP corps usually offer a ship replacement scheme where if you blow up then they give you cash to the value of the ship making it risk free.

To the person who said earlier all you need is the number of people need to field one side of a battle, I'm sorry. Your going to need alot more than that.
And again This is New Eden. to bring an expression from the EVE side, Everyone is a spy, there are no other designations. People will join your Corp, or clan if you want to call it that, and they will join you just so they can make friends now and then five months from now steal everything they can get your hands on.
I'm not saying this could happen, I'm saying this will happen.
Betamax isn't going to be for everyone, but from what I've seen it's a decent group of people, and mostly understanding, as long as your not being a jerk. We have people from all walks, and skill levels. However, we do have some good people doing some good things. |

I know I personally didn't have my mic on often last build, due to all the comms bugs it felt pointless most of the time. The build before it, the freezes kept me from it so I wouldn't have to reset my mic every time the console did. Now, we're often running squads and it's on pretty much 100% of the time, and we frequently jump over to team voice to talk to everyone outside of just the squad. |

i was in betamax before, i spent 3 weeks doing nothing but polishing jenza's tank :(
they wouldn't give me breaks at all either, i had blisters for weeks after that and the doctor said the tank cleaner and polish was far too corrosive for the "gloves" they gave me. At first they told me they had insurance for all their members, but then i found out that the insurer was some backalley russian guy and they pay you in pesos, not even real isk! All the clones they supplied for me were missing organs! hell even one was missing an arm!! how are you supposed to fight with only one bloody arm?!?!
Don't be misguided and fooled by their lies! They are liars and manipulators, and when they ran out of tank polish, they left me on some nullsec moon :( with a "loaded" scram pistol to fight off the slaver hounds.
Don't be the next victim to their ploys!
