New dropship physics model
Vehicles now take continual armour damage once they catch on fire.
Fixes to dropship collision so more damage is taken on contact with the environment.
Increased the relative price of dropships
Reduced movement penalty on forge gun slightly
AV grenades now have homing functionality implemented; they will auto-target the nearest enemy vehicle within seek range
I loved my Eryx. It was already hard enough to fly since I didn't make enough money flying it to PAY for it, and since I can't see where the hell I'm being hit from by Forge Guns because the trails only show up 10% of the time and when they do they don't have enough particles so its only a dozen blue sprites spread over hundreds of metres.
I'm going to focus 100% on LAVs when the patch comes around because dropships are nothing but flying deathtraps, and I don't want to get half my team killed in one forge gun barrage that costs me more than I will make in the match. |

I can fly an Eryx too, and I don't see this as a nerf at this point.
It could very well be the dropship physics model could be an agility/handling boost.
The price increase is across the board, and fine if it's worth it.
Forge guns are horribly slow, and essentially fixed turrets. It doesn't mean they hit any harder, just can move a little better.
The main thing is flames causing damage, which is logical, but not the way I wanted them to deal with "just barely alive" shield ships. This actually makes armor repping vehicles better since they can fix the flames.. but makes shield tanking pilots rely on repair guns and such to fix things.
FWIW- My Eryx dropships can take at least 3 proto FG hits before dying, assuming I don't turn on my shield repper. If yours can only take one hit, you may want to check our support skills or fit design. They're no tanks, but they're highly dependent on how you set them up. |

forge gun agility: its already damn near impossible to detect the source and avoid forge guns, now worse because they have greater mobility

i support all of this except for the fire damage.
which i wouldn't mind (it works fine in battlefield 3) but there's 2 entirely different schools of tanking and repairing. what's a guy with a shield transporter gonna do? |

Like I said, I liked the old physics. Dropships SHOULD be cheaper than tanks. You never see a single dropship camping the enemy spawn for half a match but I've seen plenty of Sagaris doing it.

also dropships and LAVs, but they have to be throw close enough to the vehicle. Think of it as magnetic AV grenades. |

Any buff to movement speed on the Forge gun is a nerf to any vehicle to be quite honest. The forge gun is OP atm without buffing it even more. As for the Eryx It's a waste of time flying it anyway. People don't want to spawn in it even if they are being camped into their base. The only thing that needs a Buff is player intelligence.
A marauder can destroy a Eryx in almost one shot if fitted correctly and manages to land a shot as can a Proto forge so I am not happy with Dropships as they currently are anyway. Looks like I'll have to invest my SP somewhere else in future if they aren't going to allow the Dropship to be an asset. |

The new physics makes them much more responsive and agile. You can actually dodge swarm launchers with a dropship now! (And I mean -dodge- not fly around at full speed and never get hit. You won't be able to do that anymore!)

To lay down suppressing fire, gunners need to be able to target things. That means dropship needs to be NOT MOVING. Not moving means I suddenly get dropped by 3 forge guns whose trails I can't even see.
Also, drop squads where? Sounds like it had better be wide open so I don't get taken out by a lamp post.
If dropships were as op as you claim people might actually fly them instead of sitting them on towers.

My gunners killed you a ton of times today, I remember your name. I was the Grimsnes, I believe you where in the game when my gunner went 40-0?
Most of the things you described are things done by MILITIA pilots, not serious drop sip pilots. As a DS pilot, my job is provide air support to contested areas, not to waste moneyby putting my ship into stupid situations.
Regarding the "nerf", this will add more skill to dropship piloting. and should be fun.

You know it sounds like the solution to this would be "Don't Run Into Anything with an aerial vehicle.
It may sound odd but when I play Battlefield 3 in a jet or a helicopter.. I can manage to not run into anything while supporting people. (Mid air collisions tend to be a deal breaker with the whole flight thing)
So if by support troops you mean Run over everyone with your pseudo helicopter, you are correct. If you mean hover nearby and have your gunners provide supporting/covering fire you're wrong. |

I catch dropships camping on the center structure and towers in Biomass all the time. Never works in their favor though

what no more squish ships? Cool maybe i get now the chance to survive a active AV role without getting squished by a mad tank driver which sagaris ive blew up. Another thing is i dont trust any 1 whos flying a viper or a gorgon. Most of the time the ship crashes or gets stright shot down cause cpt. moron (militia dropship pilot) decided to hover 2m over a forgegunner or jumps out of it when he reaches his desired target destination. Cause of this reason i have 1 eye 24/7 at the shield/armor display and if some 1 is in the pilot seat. Cant tell how many times i had to emergency eject myself out of one of those flying coffins. |

Didn't read it all gents but I'm investing in specialized repair tools for the particular ship you fly. Perhaps the pilot suits will have an equipment slot. Every good pilot would pack a repair tool that reps his craft best.
Drop ship speed and mobility is how you tank it. If you can evade or tank that first hit the new physics model may allow you the ability to GTFO and away to a safe spot where the pilot leaps out and douses the flames.

I disagree. Any pilot that leaves his vehicle is an idiot. Getting out leaves you at risk of getting shot and then your expensive LAV/Dropship/HAV getting stolen, and then your team has to deal with it. Better to stay in it and get blown up than let the enemy potentially have it. Now having gunners carry repair tools to hop out and rep you....well now you're thinking in EVE terms. |
