New dropship physics model
Vehicles now take continual armour damage once they catch on fire.
Fixes to dropship collision so more damage is taken on contact with the environment.
Increased the relative price of dropships
Reduced movement penalty on forge gun slightly
AV grenades now have homing functionality implemented; they will auto-target the nearest enemy vehicle within seek range
I loved my Eryx. It was already hard enough to fly since I didn't make enough money flying it to PAY for it, and since I can't see where the hell I'm being hit from by Forge Guns because the trails only show up 10% of the time and when they do they don't have enough particles so its only a dozen blue sprites spread over hundreds of metres.
I'm going to focus 100% on LAVs when the patch comes around because dropships are nothing but flying deathtraps, and I don't want to get half my team killed in one forge gun barrage that costs me more than I will make in the match. |

relative price: I'm lucky if I'm flying my dropship to make enough money in a match to buy 1 restock. If I fly my Eryx and keep it alive the whole match (which is very difficult) I make a profit. Otherwise it costs me more than it makes. Now it will be worse.
forge gun agility: its already damn near impossible to detect the source and avoid forge guns, now worse because they have greater mobility
where buff?

It could very well be the dropship physics model could be an agility/handling boost.
The price increase is across the board, and fine if it's worth it.
Forge guns are horribly slow, and essentially fixed turrets. It doesn't mean they hit any harder, just can move a little better.
The main thing is flames causing damage, which is logical, but not the way I wanted them to deal with "just barely alive" shield ships. This actually makes armor repping vehicles better since they can fix the flames.. but makes shield tanking pilots rely on repair guns and such to fix things.
FWIW- My Eryx dropships can take at least 3 proto FG hits before dying, assuming I don't turn on my shield repper. If yours can only take one hit, you may want to check our support skills or fit design. They're no tanks, but they're highly dependent on how you set them up.

Like I said, I liked the old physics. Dropships SHOULD be cheaper than tanks. You never see a single dropship camping the enemy spawn for half a match but I've seen plenty of Sagaris doing it.

NOT, squish players and fly around a break neck speed with a worry of anything hitting you. exploiting the speed to go outta bounds and regen shield etc etc. spam spawn sites, hacking points. bellyflop onto towers, smash into the ground and squish tanks and shizzle.
they needed nerfing, because you the players exploit them. ccp sees huge data spikes in snazzy graphs and, they click a few BRNB ( big red nerf buttons ).

To lay down suppressing fire, gunners need to be able to target things. That means dropship needs to be NOT MOVING. Not moving means I suddenly get dropped by 3 forge guns whose trails I can't even see.
Also, drop squads where? Sounds like it had better be wide open so I don't get taken out by a lamp post.
If dropships were as op as you claim people might actually fly them instead of sitting them on towers.
