Currently any skill used for unlocking items etc has 2 useless levels that you might as well not even have. If you want that big of a barrier between 1 and 4 then just make four cost that much rather then having me level twice and get nothing from it.
Honestly though I think that item unlocking skills with these said worthless levels should instead have unique bonuses given for each in between level. IE level bullsh*t 2 of Heavy makes your Heavy slightly resistant to Bullsh*t Remote Mines. Level Bullsh*t 3 makes your Heavy have a second Armor Slot.
This is just an example of a possible choice, however I think it should be this significant of an up for each of these Bullsh*t levels since they are rather expensive in the case of Dropsuit levels. Otherwise things such as remote repair module would have a lesser advantageous bonus but would be unique improvements rather then just simple basic stat ups.
This is just my two cents, however I think many would agree having to up through 2 Bullsh*t levels that do nothing for you rather then just up to the next level at a high price seems rather ********. Other then letting people feel like they are making some progress rather then having to save up this Obnoxious amount, these levels hold no purpose. I say either drop the levels and teach these new kids what its like to save (something this generation could use) or make these levels have some kind of worth greater then a trophy wife. |

I agree with the useless skill part, You should get something for every level you go up even if it is just a stat boost like +/- CPU-PG points & %.
However not all gear is in the build yet so I'm guessing these levels and where you get some items will be changed later on making these levels worth achieving.
But yes you should get at least a little something for a new lvl. |

I think you are right. The greater majority of these skills however have nothing else. ie extremely expensive ones such as all dropsuits and grenades. Then there is the list of ones like, demolitions, electronics ups, nanocircuitry, Shield Emissions, Remote Repair, Turret Operations, Turret Ups, Vehicle Command.

I say if they dont give a bonus per level they should unlock something per level.
However between this and last build there where more per level bonus than previously. So we will see in august. |

If I remember correctly (since there's been a dozen or so posts concerning this same issue), the final version will have benefits for each level of a skill - they are not yet implemented in the Beta yet.

The skills you upgrade to buy equipment also improve your overall proficiency with the weapon, so level 2 and 3 of the sniper skill, though they dont allow you to get a new sniper, do make you better at using the snipers.
It just isn't something that you can notice to any large degree. |

As mentioned before, yes there are a couple exceptions, however your example is not the majority. I listed a large number of skills that do not do the type of thing you mentioned. |

I understand this is a beta and that there is much to be implemented yet, however I personally am unaware and un-assured of this issue already having been planned to be fixed. This said, until I am, I will do my beta job and mention issues that I see so that just in case the powers that be have not already addressed this and if they have are just not making it obvious to me, will hopefully see that there is an issue to be fixed.

i do believe level 2 and 3 will perform or unlock more options.
i say this because we never used to have Type II suits. which is unlocked at lvl 2. so i assume there will be more things to come at those levels. |

It looks like small percentage bonuses are being added to each skill, so those levels will actually get you something eventually. |

I agree, it's pretty boring spending huge amounts of SP on things that literally do nothing except let you spend more money on better things, they're essentially artificial prerequisite barriers than something that actually improves your character at it's base.
I understand that EVE online has many of these skills, but in a game where we're having to actively grind to improve our character, it's a pretty raw deal. Imagine when the x4 SP bonus is turned off, grinding 760k or so SP for XXX dropsuit level 3, only to not unlock anything and provide no bonus to your current fit. Not very rewarding at all.
