I was adding to your point, all of the above is true, garbage tanks weapons suits, etc, noted I was not disagreeing or agreeing till collectives use the skill system, and market for resources required.

KD/R means absolutely nothing to an Eve corp that will be putting out the contracts. They want to see how many missions you have been successful at. You can have a 50:1 kd/r and still lose if you're not a team player.
You can always tell the CoD players from other FPS players as they always run from objectives always looking for the enemy to kill. Mean while there sits the objectives in enemy hands and your loosing the match.
There are going to be a lot of console fps groups out there that think they're the **** but after awhile of not getting contracts and becoming poor they may realize that kd/r means ****. |

The OP was about the KDR of anyone negative or positive, and as other stated have very high KDR ratios, their usefullness, and where do high KDR come from in dust 514. Does any of it matter? What does matter? Does KDR serve a purpose? are there diffrent type way people ern their KDR?
Primary Vehicle users do not have comparable deaths to infantry, as with real life tanks are immune to sall arms fire.
Im in the camp that doesnt know if they should be outraged/angry or in bliss/happy, about vehicle users very high KDRs.
For one I dont care about the solution. This is about the nature of high KDR in a match. To negative KDR. To positive KDRs. Can a negative KDR be more usefull then positive, visa versa, and why? |

Its really nothing to moan about....
Players from COD anf BF3 are so used to using K/D as the means to read a player's strength, which is fine since thats how those games work.
Dust is not those games. What makes the Eve universe tick is MONEY.
You can have your 10.5 K/D, have fun. Ill stick with my corp and throw money at you and we'll see where that goes.
Disclaimer: Making a generalization. STB throws money at no one....we just win....this is a tactic that many corporations will use tho, so be prepared. There's a lot of money in EVE. |

Well, to all those people who say that a tank isn't easily destroyed by a single guy, I can think of a few occasions:
The tanks are very weak when it comes to their wheels. Plant a bomb on the road (or on a dog like the good ol' days), blow up the wheels and you got a broke tank! I hope the logi guys get webifiers so we'll be able to trap the tanks. Only to find out the guys inside drowned because of their own tears. Maybe even some NOS so they can't use their shield and armor reppers?
Another cool way to destroy a tank would be flame throwers. You might feel real cozy in your tank when it's a normal weather outside, but when the tank's on fire... Well, you're not gonna last long either.
And ofcourse: the orbital bombardment. Seeing a tank desintegrated by a giant death laser from the sky will be a sight to behold!
But regarding the OP post: I aggree. You should be able to see your K/D if you really want to, but the scoreboards should focus on howmuch points you got, or howmany isk you got during the match. The game should give people incentives to play as it's intented. |

russians strapped bombs to dogs and trained them to run under tanks for combat use, then they would give em a treat
problem is, when they used them, they would only run under the russian tanks......LOL

In my opinion, KDR can be an important stat. If you are trying to recruit someone to wear Assault suits and run with an AR and kill stuff for you, then KDR can be somewhat important for that type of recruiting. If you are looking for a logi to keep your team alive, then KDR means almost nothing.
So KDR means only as much to you (or others) as your role on the battlefield is directly related to killing things so your teammates can hack things or blow stuff up or whatever. But until we can get something like stats for HPD or HPM (Hacks per death, hacks per match), RPD (repairs per death), etc., it is the only stat we really have to go by, and, being gamers, we like our stats. Give us something to measure any given role by, and we will have something else to work for.

I for one think the scoreboard should be by points instead of kills like in battlefield and mag. |

either way, the corps will know what they want, and the serious ones are gonna do testing to make sure their players are what they need.
K/D is fun and all, esp for eSports.....if ima bet on someone in a fight, yeah ill want his K/D.
for corp battles tho, individual K/D's are meaningless, since they work on a much larger scale than that and any good tactician will look at all options, namely creating diversions with some players or sacrificing some to hold a successful retreat (think chess).
i also have a feeling there will be those out there who make it their sole purpose to ruin the day of anyone touting their K/D, or even backstabbing them for fun
imagine an EVE corp hiring some guy cause he sold them his whole K/D nonsense, only to repeatedly orbital strike him for lolz. they'll still pay him, but itll be a good time.....the game just works that way. |

I'm not too worried about KDR vs. ISK or infantry vs. tanks, etc. In this game it's going to be all about defeating your enemy and the ways and means used to achieve that will be myriad and, at times, counter-intuitive.
In some situations KDR will absolutely matter, in other situations it will be ISK, in other situations the way to win will be to convincingly LOSE the match, the twists and ramifications of decisions and actions in DUST will be mind-boggling.
I guarantee you that for almost all of us Vets who stay with the game that a match will arise where you realize right in the middle of it that you are not fighting the fight that you thought you were fighting. Of course, at that point it will be too late to do anything about it except maybe admire the way you were set up and accept the fact that you're well and truly kittened. Or rage quit, whatever.
And as soon as teamplay is implemented, and comms work properly, and hit detection is fixed, and lag is at a manageable level, and a few other things are in place, the inside of a tank, even top tier with good skills, is going to be a very dangerous place to be.

well, vehicle players with massive kdrs r usually just goin around blowing up everything that moves while staying away from other vehicles so they don't lose the tank they spent a match's worth of isk on. really only useful in ambush or for staying near the end of plateaus and keeping the poor defenders from getting back into the fight. kdr isn't important, it's the amount of objectives completed, w/l (granted, that shouldn't count now as we're being paired with mindless randoms), and the isk lost/destroyed. |

people complain about getting spawn camped by 5 tanks and OP tanks.....we dont even have EW or orbital strikes yet...
although id like to see what some of these guys think when they find out they can be backstabbed and orbital striked upon by their own guys just for the hell of it.....LOL |

Its a beta
KDR will always be used as a measuring stick tbh, can you take or guard an objective while dead? essentially no
KDR in the beta is really screwed atm espc with the tank drivers since we have no grouping and not enough AV stuff in general to take tanks out and if your the only one on your team with AV stuff them it feels kinda useless when the rest of your team are morons
MY KDR atm is 5.30 or something around that, i could have skilled for tanks instead and at least have double that since its so easy tbh but i prefer being a ground pounder because i have more freedom instead and dont really care about being in a tank with dodgy handling for 20mins
Most tank drivers use the large missile launcher with the 2 smaller missiler launchers which if they hit a wall it will take your shields, they dont even have to hit you direct to cause a large amount of damage and in 2 shots you can be easy dead because of the spalsh damage alone, also take into account that they dont have to carry ammo or even have to reload after 10 shots for example with a 20sec reload time to its missile spam everyday constantly as soon as they see anything red
I ground pound and most matches im avoiding at least 1 tank, some games it can be 2 tanks or even 3 and 4 on rare occassions which makes the game unplayable
Tank drivers may do well but i can still out kill them even if they are on my team because im mopping up the MI inbetween objectives and where tanks cant go but once the tank turns up i gtfo because its simply not worth it and AV wise i cant really do much even with the proto swarm
Grouping will really sort the current tanks problem out along with making tanks expensive as they should be, reloading should also be added tbh and i would even add ammo tbh and general AV equip like mines are needed
Right now its a beta without grouping and that is the main problem |

Because the game is framed to make it matter. Leader boards, character development massively boosted by kills, loads of weapons and ratios listed on your character sheet.
I must say even though I have been testing no standard classes in this build, it aches every time I die without any kills. |

Tanks KDR are better then elite infantry thus tanks are op, because elite infantry are butt hurt over the higher KDR, SP, ISK.
When these same tanks drivers exist in 0.0, their KDRs, Sp, ISK will plunge, unless they remain in high sec.... |
