So does that make vehicles due to their KDRs more usefull then any infantry? The vehicle user with 10.7 KDR to 25.43 KDR better then the user with 3 KDR who has not equiped or deployed a vehicle? Is a swarm/fogre gun user that prevent vehicles useless because he had more deaths then kills, then the infantry with rifle or the tank with cannons, or the dropship with missile gunners? Whilst tracking numbers of players killed and lives lost is usefull for forum posturing and self-congratulation, it has little bearing on 0.0 warfare where what matters more is the ability to take and control SOV territory, harass hostile industrial and economic operations, and to break the morale of enemy mercs. Its not about dying for your country, its all about making them die for theirs. So I dont prescibe to KDR logic other then if you are dead, you are not taking ground, if your dead every spawn, then you did nothing, and stroked some elites eppeen for killing you 45 times in a row. All MAG vets remember the ``no body got a reaper, no body`` remark in clan wars. Here is a very old clan battle video of Murder Service vs GUN(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNrFScqQ5sw) two respected clans, its revealing their reaction at the end of the match. It shows just how inflated KDRs are from randoms. What does KDR mean to you? What does it take to win? KDR is less relevant in this game then any other shooter in the world from a skill perspective, as you can be a good player but have such an under level character causing you to die a lot, mix that with terrible hit detection and frame rate lag it's quite irrelevant. Now kdr does have a huge impact financially on you though, which is the exact reason why vehicles need to be nerfed, they are the main cause of death against infantry players. The solution should be to make it where if you lose a tank, it takes 4+ games to earn the money back to buy another one. Players who play with a high kdr around 10 or so, arent playing aggressively which is fine, but when you "have" to win, in a corp match and what not, those players will be so use to playing not to die that they wont be able to keep up with there pub room kdrs, if you cant duplicate it in a clan match it's not your true kdr imho
pdiggy go away, you lost your right to cokmplain about vehicles...ive got you in quotes saying how you refuse to spawn AV and ***** cause you still die to tanks

sigh....rebalancing your character? just make a different fitting....
as i said, if your unwilling to spec for AV, then dont complain about vehicles.
all you need is a proto swarm. its light, can be used on any fit, and when combined with mods does a lot of damage |

Its really nothing to moan about....
Players from COD anf BF3 are so used to using K/D as the means to read a player's strength, which is fine since thats how those games work.
Dust is not those games. What makes the Eve universe tick is MONEY.
You can have your 10.5 K/D, have fun. Ill stick with my corp and throw money at you and we'll see where that goes.
Disclaimer: Making a generalization. STB throws money at no one....we just win....this is a tactic that many corporations will use tho, so be prepared. There's a lot of money in EVE. |

Bresker Veyne wrote:Well, to all those people who say that a tank isn't easily destroyed by a single guy, I can think of a few occasions:
The tanks are very weak when it comes to their wheels. Plant a bomb on the road (or on a dog like the good ol' days), blow up the wheels and you got a broke tank! I hope the logi guys get webifiers so we'll be able to trap the tanks. Only to find out the guys inside drowned because of their own tears. Maybe even some NOS so they can't use their shield and armor reppers?
Another cool way to destroy a tank would be flame throwers. You might feel real cozy in your tank when it's a normal weather outside, but when the tank's on fire... Well, you're not gonna last long either.
And ofcourse: the orbital bombardment. Seeing a tank desintegrated by a giant death laser from the sky will be a sight to behold!
But regarding the OP post: I aggree. You should be able to see your K/D if you really want to, but the scoreboards should focus on howmuch points you got, or howmany isk you got during the match. The game should give people incentives to play as it's intented.
russians strapped bombs to dogs and trained them to run under tanks for combat use, then they would give em a treat
problem is, when they used them, they would only run under the russian tanks......LOL

not gonna happen....

either way, the corps will know what they want, and the serious ones are gonna do testing to make sure their players are what they need.
K/D is fun and all, esp for eSports.....if ima bet on someone in a fight, yeah ill want his K/D.
for corp battles tho, individual K/D's are meaningless, since they work on a much larger scale than that and any good tactician will look at all options, namely creating diversions with some players or sacrificing some to hold a successful retreat (think chess).
i also have a feeling there will be those out there who make it their sole purpose to ruin the day of anyone touting their K/D, or even backstabbing them for fun
imagine an EVE corp hiring some guy cause he sold them his whole K/D nonsense, only to repeatedly orbital strike him for lolz. they'll still pay him, but itll be a good time.....the game just works that way. |

Vrain Matari wrote:I'm not too worried about KDR vs. ISK or infantry vs. tanks, etc. In this game it's going to be all about defeating your enemy and the ways and means used to achieve that will be myriad and, at times, counter-intuitive.
In some situations KDR will absolutely matter, in other situations it will be ISK, in other situations the way to win will be to convincingly LOSE the match, the twists and ramifications of decisions and actions in DUST will be mind-boggling.
I guarantee you that for almost all of us Vets who stay with the game that a match will arise where you realize right in the middle of it that you are not fighting the fight that you thought you were fighting. Of course, at that point it will be too late to do anything about it except maybe admire the way you were set up and accept the fact that you're well and truly kittened. Or rage quit, whatever.
And as soon as teamplay is implemented, and comms work properly, and hit detection is fixed, and lag is at a manageable level, and a few other things are in place, the inside of a tank, even top tier with good skills, is going to be a very dangerous place to be.
voice of reason +1
people complain about getting spawn camped by 5 tanks and OP tanks.....we dont even have EW or orbital strikes yet...
although id like to see what some of these guys think when they find out they can be backstabbed and orbital striked upon by their own guys just for the hell of it.....LOL |
