Stop giving pilots 50+ kill for crushing people.
If there is less incentive then there is less reason to crush people. |

I don't think the points will do really ... there needs to be damage to the ship for drops.
It may be a bit to much, but imagine how rare it would become if a heavy drop to the ground would cause the shields to go down to 30% ... any additional drops when no shields would cause a 25-30% damage to the ship |

Less enemies running around threatening to take your objectives is incentive enough. I don't really see dropship squishing as a problem. |

On my last match one guy flew around squishing people and all 5 of my match deaths were from that alone(ruined my perfect 10/0)
But still they shouldnt get points for it even if it doesnt stop it out right atleast people wont spend an intire match doing it because then they get no sp. |

I don't believe there should be any arbitrary penalty for -any- tactic in this game. Once you make one such penalty, where does it end? |

Its not a penalty. Its simply not there, people could still crush you all day long they just wont get any kill points for it. |

Im not just standing around im being actively hunted by a crazied and deranged pilot. I am offering a simple suggestion to make pilots less likely to abuse dropship crushing, not by punishing the ship or the pilot with a penalty but by taking away the incintive. |

See if u say dropship crushing is unfair well then id have to say try it urself cause it takes decent real world piloting skills to perfor this first u got to find the target in the open even if u urself are geting shot at. Then u have to control the drop other wise it will harm ur ship and i have actually crashed through crushing.
But just for those that dont know there 5 d's if u want to reduce the number of kills by crushing give the pilot a gun to fire seriously we cant always get guners for the side guns so some forward guns to be under the pilots control would help solve the proplem of only being able to get kills with are fav ride by landing it on someones head.
Now i know what ull say pilot controlled guns will make the dropship to powerful well that may be true. Best way to fix that is to create a new breed of aircraft that has this capability bt isnt abe to spawn solders or carry them. It also may have 2 side guns maby instead 1 or 2 belly guns somewhat like the modern apache or ww2 b51 superfortress bomber. Maby it would just have greater moneverability or tank possibley making it closer to a fighter then a helicopter in terms of roles [ability to hover should be kept]
Now to finish this solution off for those that still want to complain about being crushed by a DROPship let me point out the word DROP and that us pilots took the name very seriously and dropped the ship on your heads lol

You drastically reduce dropship squishing when you give dropships a pilot controlled gun like tanks.
You also reduce tower dropship sniping.
We can stand bad gunners only so much. ;) |

It's a fair tactic and they already take dmg if they ram stuff. When the vehicles aren't militia and they actually have to pay for their stuff, then they will probably be a bit more picky about when to squish ppl because it puts them in a very nice spot for a swarm launcher to dumb fire and kill them. Even a few av grenades will do it if they are close enough to the ground. |

I would suggest that the ships don't really need to hit the ground when they have a pilot only when they are unmanned....Cause if a ship has a pilot then its thrusters are on so it really shouldn't hit the ground.
So a compromise fix would be to not let a piloted ship touch down low enough to CRUSH anyone but let them hover over people and deal SPLASH damage from the thrusters jet-wash.
(Then you could still kill people under the ship but not instantly kill them & they would be able to have a chance to run for cover if close to a building unless they are slow or out in the open field.) |

The problem isn't that pilots get SP for crushing people. The problem is twofold.
First : It's the best way for them to get skillpoints, and the only way for them to improve their kill stats. This is solved better not by penalizing kills, but by giving incentive for them to actually care what their gunners are doing. Give the pilot +50 and a kill on their stats along with the gunner who scores the final blow on someone.
Second, momentum is calculated poorly. A dropship landing directly on top of someone or pinning someone against something should kill them on the spot. a dropship going at its minimum speed sliding on the ground should not. Sliding on the ground at minimum speed does no collision damage to the dropship, when it should be doing gradual amounts the longer they slider, with more damage the faster they go.
Also, its just too damn satisfying for people not to do it. |

This is going to anger some but i have a great super power of not giving a damn. Only a douchebag would support this poor tactic, especially when it's not the dropship pilots job to kill. Your sole job is to transport troops to and from objectives and let your gunners defend you and cover the troops at said objectives. It's not your gunners fault you can't fly straight and even enough for them to get kills, that's YOUR fault. It's not your gunners fault that you fly around objectives like a crazy person just looking for folk to squash, giving them hardly any time to line shots off much less hit anything, that's YOUR fault. If this tactic is still in the final game it's going to help kill it as it's pathetic the way you pilots troll the ground chasing mercs under low pipelines etc.
The only way to solve this is to penalize the pilots heavily for doing so. Dropship squashing has got to be made an absolute last option to do.
Another viable solution is give the pilots points for dropping off troops at objectives, more points than they would get for squashing someone. I used to think giving them a gun would be a nice alternative but that is not their job to fly around and kill. It would only cause another problem of to many pilots not enough grounders, the sky would be full of dropships. If your getting shot at, FLY away and grab some gunners, then come back and rain death down upon thine enemy.

The solution isn't penalizing someone for using the ship as a battering ram. The solution is making it actually rewarding to use it like it was intended. It currently is not. People care about stats, and they care about getting the most SP possible. My above post addresses the best way to make crushing less attractive. It will always be in the game. |

I think that one of the problem is to see or hear DS in time. Right now draw distant are poor; DS appear in front of you out of nowhere, and you are able to hear it when it is too late.
Of course, is what Nova Knife says will help.

I had a long story written here about my best battle and participating stuff... But who ever reads long stories... In couple words you need to participate to get MANY POINTS so squashing alone won't work(had 17\1 (#1) game all kills are squashes though got most points from gunners and support\hacking stuff not kills(comparing to around 25+ kills SP for roof camping on a dropship and 2\0-10\0 wih sniper) ). Dropships don't get any spawn points for CRU spawns (I think tanks too but I haven't tried CRU fitted tank) pilots end most of the hard matches with 0\0 when performed excellent... And you do take damage on landing I haven't felt it on armor tank as much as I do feel loosing this extra buffer on shield tank and have to land and repair... And you want to take away our last hard chance to take a risk and score a kill to "show this bustard how much I hate him for trying to scratch my beauty" cause someone haunted you on a dropship? lrn2run and shoot Forge Gun\SML I'll come for you

Q: pilot gets some points for shield/armor transfer?
Tried shield transfers and haven't saw any points, read somewhere on forums that armor give points(like repair tool) but taking in account activation distance in shields I would raver leave this to ground support units or give dropships shield transfer distance bonus like logi's in eve have cause sitting right on the tank makes me creeps, and it's no better to understand that there is a least 2 gunners with you and it's a possible combat situation... No thanks =)
Draw distance is a huge problem for snipers now... shooting by the red marks w\o even chance to see your enemy if there is someone to "spot" enemy and give you this red mark at least |

You are assuming the game is ready, which it's obviously not.
What if knife would at this beta stage able to OHK targets 20m away? Balancing that would be taking away 'tactic of the game'?? |
