Okay first and foremost, I'm pretty mediocre when it comes to the FPS genre. I've generally avoided FPS's because a problem with my depth perception, which can make fast, intensive games a little hard to play at times. That, and I'm getting older - I just don't have the twitchy-ness that other players seem to. I get maybe 6/10 K/D in a game, not counting assists. I know that's not terrible, but that's probably one of my more lucky rounds.
So far, Dust is a pretty amazing game, but the problem is I really don't want to hold my team back. I've been looking into support roles, but I'm having a bit of a hard time choosing how to go about it. Logistics seems like a good starting point, but I'm not exactly certain which skills I should focus on first.
My survivability was absolutely terrible when I tried it the other night, I've noticed that Log suits have a lower HP mod than Assault, as well as a lower speed - which seems a little strange to me, but regardless - I'm looking for some suggestions to help improve my survivability, and what kind of skills I should be looking to acquire first, so that I can be more useful to my team.
Any help you could give me would be much appreciated, thank you.

If you're using militia gear, get out of it as soon as possible. it's the lowest level gear in the game. just getting to the first level of normal equipment you will see a big difference in survive-ability. Now you will start paying re-stock fees on that normal equipment, but at the lower levels, you should be able to keep up with restocking them so long as you're not dying 100 times a game. I was amazed at the difference it made.
Also, use the fact that you're a Logi to your advantage. Case in point - you have an armor repair module and really fast shield repair. So don't take someone head on. use cover to your advantage. I can usually empty 30 rounds, cover, reload, and by the time i finish reloading, my shields are already at 100%, and my armor is repairing. meanwhile, the other guys still sitting low on armor / shields since theirs don't auto-repair.
Nono-hives and reapir tools are your friends. Nano-hives repair armor and reloads ammo (plus you get some SP for people using them). And the repair tools can repair armor AND vehicles. |

Hi, primary healer here. Right now it's hard to try and be a medic with this build. There is no grouping, so you can't be sure how decent your group is beforehand or whether they're even on coms.
Just a few things I try to do...
The logi suit, IMO, is garbage. The tank isn't the problem, it's the lack of agility and speed. Right now it's easier to wear an assault or scout suit and carry a repair tool in your utility slot. Fill your high and low slots with tank. The weapon you choose should reflect the map you're in. I prefer The burst AR for mid and long range maps like Plateau and the SMG/Shotgun for indoor areas like Biomass and Communication. I've recently started sinking SP into the Mass Driver and so far I'm liking it, but it takes a lot of SP and practice to make it shine.
Stick with your group.
Keep yourself alive first, a dead medic can't heal. Always rep yourself when you get a chance.
You can't heal through stupid. If some heavy is trying to facetank 3 people outside instead of falling back behind cover so you can repair him, then let him die. Throw a grenade at his feet and run away, sometimes you kill whoever was shooting him.
Carrying syringes is almost a waste at this point. Very few people wait long enough for you to revive them before they suicide. Even when you tell them in coms, they still suicide.
If you do have syringes, don't try and hero rez while people are shooting you. Wait until all the reds are dead.
Heal vehicles for easy SP. Nanohives are good for farming SP too, just drop them where your group is fighting, but in a "safe" spot behind some cover.
Don't drop uplinks in stupid places.
Make an offensive suit that you can switch to if you're group is just too bad to keep alive and you don't want to bail. |

Thank you both for the help. I am in militia gear currently, because I was concerned about wasting resources if I started dying too often. I'll be sure to take that advice, and upgrade that when I get back on. I was also curious about using syringes, I mean - you'd think it would be a good tactic to avoid the respawn counter, but most people just seem to opt for suicide, even when I tell them I'll revive them.
I guess currently I should focus on sticking with people and repairing them, or at least finding one person who's team-orientated and stick with them for the duration of the match.
By the way, what would constitute a good place for an uplink to be dropped at? Someplace with general cover and not out in the middle of nowhere, or out in the open, correct?
Thanks again for your help, this sounds like something worth trying, and possibly sticking with. |

Don't forget that you can rep structures and vehicles, too. +25 instead of +15. |

The syringe issue will be addressed in the new build in August. There will be a mandatory 8-second wait timer on suicides; as well there will be visual notifications of a downed player and when a Logi is near them to revive em.
As far as uplink spots, you want to place one that is in an area is in-conspicuous yet not in some far off corner of the world. Uplinks should be placed close enough to said "objective" but not iin an obvious open spot. The longer it stays hidden, the better.
And as far as worrying about wasting resources, Logi's have to play it smart. They don't have the armor like assaults, and they aren't fast like Scouts. So you gotta use your advantages. Get out the Militia gear for a few rounds, and you will see a difference; plus you look cooler
I typically don't use more than 10 Logi suits in a battle (skirmish) and the payout I get usually always covers any re-stocking fee's plus some. and the higher the players equipment in a battle, the more ISK you get, so militia gear gives you the lowest ISK |

Yeah, so if everybody is wearing Militia gear, you get less ISK than if everyone is wearing the highest level gear (Prototype). the amount of ISK you get is relative to the types of gear everyone is wearing in battle. |

Don't forget droplinks and nanohives. Its one thing to wave a magic wand and help people out, but spawning close to objectives or fortifiable positions with ammo restock is king! |

I know I make mad isk off my nanohive deployment. And I'm assault. So a logi with a bunch of hives, etc would be benificial to u and us. |

1st get the logistics type 1 suit, has 3 slots for equipment like nano hives etc. 2nd either decide what you want to get first either upgraded nano hives or uplinks. Uplinks are granted +15 and let me tell you the more different uplinks you have on 1 fit the more you can place cause you can bypass the max active cap with that. Laughed at a guy today online who sayd its impossible to have 9 uplinks up at the same time. 3rd dont bother with the repair tool the militia 1 is ok and does the job. If you want to play as logistic stay away from gunfights when possible, stay with a group, if you see a mob with 4-6 people follow them and offer re-supply. If your group is dead and you somehow survived run away to the next merc that you see. |

I've seen uplinks placed near the 4 pillars south of C last a good long time, they tend to get ignored.. And if you have swarm, forge, and snipers up on a roof, they will love you if you drop a hive. |

If you're not near someone else who needs repairs, or if you're not facing them, press and hold R1, and the first "tick" will be the "error" beep, but then it'll start repairing when it would normally reach the second. |

this is what i do:
weapon- mass driver (deals extra to armor so there for its good when your near someone else) modules- dont care but i like armor repair equipment- nanohive, and repairtool/nanite injector(both at higher dropsuit)
prior to logi drop in a spawn by an assault because they stay past death and it will save an equipment slot |

This pretty much my load out I have a few verisons.
Biggest thing is tell your team your logistics, also I call out when I drop a nanohive tell them it also repairs.
Try to find a pet heavy to do the killing for you :) |

BTW: Uplinks stay up even if you change your loadout. You don't need them on every spawn. So have two different loadout.
