People say that Eve is a game that doesn't want to be played or its just spreadsheets in space. They are mostly right. Eve is a game that's all about goals and the planning and execution of the goals. Talk to any MMO player about what they want from the game and they'll tell you that they want to become the highest level, strongest character, or get rare gear. Talk to any Eve player and you will see that the goals go so much deeper.

There is so much out there. People regularly create skill plans that reach out five years with certainty that they will complete that plan. I bought a third account with the plan to create a trading all with maxed skills to get some passive income and when that plan was complete I would create a second character on that account that would pilot a titan ship (they are what, 60 billion isk for the hull alone and something like 3 years of skill training for just that ship). Ontop of that I'd have my main create an alliance and claim 0.0 space. I nearly have executed it all and if it wasn't for my lack of free time, I'd be conjuring up more plans.

We will see dust moving in the same direction. These will be truely unique games.

The only thing you have to understand is people spend years getting a ship they want. please when you play this dont go in thinking you will have a easy time. it takes lots of dedication. EVE is one of the most amazing games i have ever played and i know dust will be the same.

Could send you an extended trial if you want to give it a go. I can help you out - walk you through some of the beginning steps. It's more complicated than Dust, believe it or not.

Highsec EVE is a different game than Low/Null sec EVE though. Lowsec is mostly random pirates wanting your stuff or to kill you for fun. Nullsec is mostly alliances and corporations who generally don't want you in their territory if you're not associated with them, and many will come looking for you and try (and probably succeed) to kill you. (assuming you're new) In Highsec, you basically just need to look out for scammers and people who try to get you to aggro them so they can call in their buddies and kill you. Or random people blowing up their ships to do damage to you so their friend can loot your ship. The list goes on. Low/Null you are very vulnerable and really need to be prepared to escape those out to get you, and a big part of that is setting up your interface in a way that helps you better. Wormholes are like Null except you don't even have the luxury of knowing who is in there with you. You could be alone for days then immediately have some very scary people show up and destroy everything you have in there. Most of my EVE life has been very casual carebear stuff, but life in a wormhole was definitely challenging.

I loved when the new nebula's, starfields and planets came out. I traveled for days across star systems and regions just looking at it all. And figuring out how to scrape together enough funds to keep operating without doing things like missions is great. Finding your first wormhole with those scanners. Hearing all the stories of pirates in low sec and making that first jump. Having your ship blown out from under you in your first (or fifteenth) pvp encounter...the hand shaking adrenaline... God I miss that. GET IN THERE!

I had an EVE account for 3 months, I should've spent some time on the forums, more time in general chat... But, I tried to just figure it out as I went. I ended up mining in Hi-sec way to much, so boring. When I have the money, I will probably start playing EVE, I want to be a part of the year long Corp infiltrations, and massive battles the likes of Burn Jita. Oh my god, when I read about Burn Jita, I simply COULD NOT wait for the videos to come up on youtube, SO EPIC!

Dont worry, EVE isn't very heavy on your graphics card as long as you're conservative with your settings. Also, turning off station interiors will boost performance when docked.

I'm laughing so hard.. this is so true. Frigate just scanned me down and looted my mission kills? I can pop him easy. And then his friend comes. And he simply holds you there while that wimpy frigate (that you can barely hit) kills your favorite ship. Yeah. Bravado doesn't win fights.

I played for a few years on and off and i barely scratched the surface of that game, all I did was caldari mission running in high sec in my Raven navy issue, and all the COSMOS missions, a bit of exploration, and some trading, and thats not even 10% of what you can do. My goals were to eventualy have the skills and isk for a Freighter, a Caldari Dreadnaught and my very own PoS. But I just didnt have the time to get these goals complete with work and all.

Opening it is considered stealing, and that player then has the right to kill you, Concord wont defend you. My brother got screwed by that scam once. :P

Navy Vexor ( faction cruiser) estimated at around 100 mill isk. i gave the ship to the young new player, told him/her to sell on market and use the isk to better skills and cheaper ship + fittings. some of us eve players help those newcomers, also some corps/alliances to. in if as in life " if its to good to be true ITS A SCAM "
