It will help if you take the free trial, but you won't get a full picture of the game. The game really opens up when you get to battlecruiser+ sized ships. You can do a lot in frigates and cruisers, but most of the content comes from BC's, T3 cruisers, battleships, etc. |

caldari say rush job, you could be into a moa within the two weeks, around week 3-4 you would be in a ferox/drake running back to back lvl3. after 1.2 month hitting lvl 4 with a very low sp char, but getting by in just a drake kiting the boundry. from there on its the race to max shields / electronics /enginering / mechanics and the likes.
when i started i made goals.
10m sp in 7 months 1 billion isk in 7 months and join one of the feared pirate player corps.
i started in 2006, by 2007 i had all three bagged and ticked of. in 4 years playing i had amassed around 12+ billion isk (solo play). i made isk by selling items to the lowsec pirates on the cheap, mainly implants at first, then i branched into ship rigging, made a few billion.
after that i shipped out into ismother and became of of the Atlas pets. had fun lost ships. when Atlas went down, our alliance also crashed, i lost 6 billion isk but came out alive and still able to go back to my old ways.
in a way i am glad eve is a long term game, its the longest i have ever played/owned a game, it always draws me back. the day to day politics, the great wars, the people and most of all Freedom to chose my own path. no storyline end game just total freedom, and a game the player actions affect others in a chain effect |

Tamiya, I meant you can't do much in the free trial. Two or three weeks isn't enough time to get much done in EVE. |

When I was new to eve I always found it amusing how nice most players were.
I was at first dumb enough to check out low sec unprepared. Twice I was Ambushed by Pirates. after a short chat they told me I needed to be more prepared and always have backup in low sec. then sent me more isk than I needed to replace what I lost Plus modules to make escaping pirates easier.
Eve has some of the nicest pirates around. lol. |

The game continues to do an action till you tell it to stop for the most part, if you fire at something it won't stop till ammo runs out, you lose target lock, or something blows up unless you tell the ship to stop. Same thing with movement, set speed and course the ship will keep going till server shuts down if you don't stop it.
The lag isn't a big issue, turn settings down if its real bad, pve could be done at 2 or 3 fps without much affect on game play.
Lowsec also has faction war, this will probably be one of first points tied to dust from what I have heard.
Assume a ship is destroyed when you undock, that way its a bonus when you are still alive later. Never undock with something you can't afford to lose. It is gamble even in hisec to undock with expensive items (with practice you can run through even nullsec pretty safely, but it will take loseing millions of isk to develop the skills, so you shouldn't try till you already have the skills or trusted older(in game time) players escorting/guiding you)
Most players are not scammers, but the scammers are so vocal in seems like they are. So its safest to assume its a scam until proven otherwise. Jita planet 4 moon 4 station sells everything, but can have high lag, and is filled with scammers.
EvE players tend to help more if you try to figure it out before asking. A lot of people get tired of seeing people ask whats in the tutorial, so do all the tutorials first. They even give you free stuff/isk, so it is worth doing them even for things you may not want to do later.

In Eve it's the same thing with babies and newbs; it's cuddly and adorable to see a baby to try out new things and no one wants to see a baby cry but try doing the same when you're an adult and the lack of sympathy will be quite evident. |

it runs ok on alot of PCs that arent that powerful. tho i'm not an elite player i just kill NPCs in null sec then waste it all on a month of game time to kill more NPCs for 30 days.. yea so i'm a little more excited about dust, not saying that EVE isn't great but for me it kinda sux.
don't do as did and not join a corp for 2 years because ppl can see my history and they don't trust me cause I have no history of joining corps so they think I'm an alt/spy/infiltrator. I made the mistake of assuming I could solo in EVE which you can up to a certain point before it becomes extremely pointless and you'll need a fleet someday so best to join a corp early on and not become an exile like myself.. |

after around a 10 min chat, i thought " how do i help this chap" dragged up my assets and took a gander.
Navy Vexor ( faction cruiser) estimated at around 100 mill isk. i gave the ship to the young new player, told him/her to sell on market and use the isk to better skills and cheaper ship + fittings.
some of us eve players help those newcomers, also some corps/alliances to.
in if as in life " if its to good to be true ITS A SCAM "
We do the same thing, we usually give the noobs 10mil to start with, then guide them along and help them out with ships and all. They turn out in the end if you show them how to walk as opposed to piggy backing them around :) |

the ingame help channels. despite the reputation that EVE players are "evil" they're also the most helpful community as far as informing others goes |

Concept is simple with space separated in to sectors from the safer core worlds (empire) to outlawed null sec.
1.0 - 0.5 being the highest sector, concorde instantly appears and kills the aggressor, no cynosural fields allowed thus no capitals and no warp interdiction fields (bubbles). 0.4 - 0.1 is low sec, gate guns shoot any aggressor in vicinity, still no bubbles but also no cynosural field suppression so capitals can move freely. 0.0 - (-)1.0 is the lowest possible but mainly you need to care is that in null sec nothing stops you from engaging anyone at all by any means necessary. |

I recommend joining Eve Uni or RvB if you want a good corp to learn stuff from. If you meet the criteria, you could also join TEST or GSF, both of which are also good at helping newbros/newbees. |

ok iv said it be for and ill say it agen for you not eve players ... when you start playing eve for the 1st time its like being droped off in a 5 mill wide pool 12 ft deep and full of well hung hungery sharks and tolled to swim to one of the sides then ones you get done with that theres a T-rex w8ing for you when you get out and you have to out run him untill he gives up . and affter that its off to figth rapters in a cage mach to the death . and only affter that you need to out stare a cat and then you must kill god. this whole time your meat suit must stay on at all times or you will have to start all over in the pool of sharks. and if you die we will bring you back to life and you can start all over agen in the pool of sharks. PS: you may no use any rocks wallnuts guns or any thing that is not a part of you other then the meat suit if we cach you using magic we will take it a way with are God DeV powers and make you swim in a never ending pool of sharks with lazzers on there freckin haeds ! |
