1.MULTIPLE ZOOMS ie 2x 5x and 10x on a sniper. -reasons- snipers need to be able see longer distances to avoid damage - have the ability to make more efficient shots ie hit the damn target's head!!!!! 2. STABILIZATION CONTROL ie hold breath like in cod -possible ideas- a system that uses stamina to maintain a steady aim at a target 3.small clips wtf mate!!!! 3 shots and reload!!! that sucks!!!! BIGGER CLIPS PLEASE!!!! -if there is something better than three shots i didn't get the chance to find it. 4. scoped targets should appear as identified targets to team. ps sometimes i would like to know who the **** i'm shooting at!!!! since i can't always see who my teammates are!!! keep my teammates marked at all times!!!! lets get real it IS supposed to be a really advanced society so shoudn't i be able to know who my ally is!!!!

I pretty much agree with all of these. I'd rather have a skill that when at level 5 you have no waver. |

possible solution could be that the higher the skill level the less amount of stamina needed to maintain a steadier aim. and possibly at some level a zero stamina loss. i think it would allow more people to enjoy sniping if you allow them to have some kind of control at earlier levels over the waver. even if it is limited early on. |

The solution to all your problems is: THE STARTER FREE MILITIA STUFF IS CRAP. Buy a good sniper rifle and you get a larger clip and better zoom. If your teammates see the enemy you can see the red or blue indicator. And lastly, just crouch and don't move. Your aim is perfect after two seconds with normal snipers. |

While there are a number of mentions about this often... I would say that having a variable Zoom (L2 would be the perfect button for this), in my opinion would be nice to have.
Something else I would say would be nice is the ability to go prone with a Tripod. Having perfect stability after a few seconds, yes does help prevent the whole Quick-Scope issues which is a good thing... and I'm going to to say having anything to screw with that, in-fact I would go the opposite direction with it.
Have it so standing up, the wavering around is entirely based against skill rather than taking a few seconds. Have it so that when crouched you have to "Breath In" (based against stamina) to stablise the rifle considerably (as such this would take the same time as the current "wait" but initiated by the player) Have it so you can go prone and not need to use the "Breath In" unless you need absolute perfect accuracy.
I would also agree that the Sniper Rifle does need a bit more work in terms of
GÇó Showing Friendy and Squad Mates regardless of Distances (Friendly Blue, Squad Green) ... that way anyone without an arrow is a valid target. GÇó Customise the Sniper Rifles better:
Hold Fire (Railgun Rifle) uses all of your rounds, but their Damage Stacks. This could however have the weakest Tap (Single Shot) mode. As it stands you can't tap to fire a single shot, only charge. I know a few of my friends who first tried to use the gun and thought it was broken at first.
Power Shot (Artillery Rifle) could have very few rounds per mag, with a slow RoF but does considerable damage. I'm thinking the mimic of a 50. Cal Bolt Action Rifle.
Double-Tap (Laser Rifle) would have the largest number of rounds per mad, with a high RoF capable of firing multiple shots before becoming uncontrollable. Would have pretty "standard" damage I guess, but the idea is that you'd fire 2-3 shots in quick succession to kill a target.
I would also say that the Sniper Rifles should act differently from each other. With the Laser one being a Dead-Shot (i.e. where you aim is where it hits), where-as the other rifles would be more affected by gravity so require leading your target and accounting for Wind / Gravity conditions.
As it stands there is minimal need for leading a shot and you kinda have to aim directly at the head to hit. Just sorta feels weird and cheap... I mean damn easy to get alot of kills with it, but sorta sucks there is very little in the means of skill involved unlike say Battlefield 3. |

1.MULTIPLE ZOOMS - I like the idea, the far zoom doesn't work quite as well with closer enemies - press and hold L1 would give you full zoom, tap then hold L1 would give you half zoom 2. STABILIZATION CONTROL - As has been mentioned crouch and stay still - iirc standing waver is reduced by the sniper proficiency skill 3.small clips - Higher level snipers have 5 shots 4. scoped targets should appear as identified targets to team - Agreed as well as having friendlies always on

Agree with the overall thoughts on this thread.
Question: I can see red carrots (arrows) showing enemies, but no actual target. Is this a function of my low level skills and meta 1 / 2 equipment or is it an issue of draw length?
If i can see the carrot, i should be able to see the actual enemy, even if he's out of range. Conversely, I can sometimes see targets without an arrow, nor brackets, info, etc.
This is a bit confusing to figure out who is who and what I can and can't hit.
Any feedback is appreciated. |

Has anyone else noticed that there does appear to be some degree of multiple scope levels already in game, but, the "how to" is a bit random - or at least as far as I can tell?
I have held my scope on a position I am covering and then quickly unscoped and rescoped and the magnification seems to be larger?

This^ I like.

No need. Train up to Sniper Rifle Operation lvl 5 and Sniper Rifle Proficiency to as high as possible to reduce sway sooner. Also, kneel before shooting. The sway stops sooner that way.
3.small clips wtf mate!!!! 3 shots and reload!!! that sucks!!!! BIGGER CLIPS PLEASE!!!! -if there is something better than three shots i didn't get the chance to find it.
What the frack are you doing with the militia sniper? Train up to the better ones. The advanced and prototype sniper rifles hold up to at least 5 shots.
4. scoped targets should appear as identified targets to team. ps sometimes i would like to know who the **** i'm shooting at!!!! since i can't always see who my teammates are!!! keep my teammates marked at all times!!!! lets get real it IS supposed to be a really advanced society so shoudn't i be able to know who my ally is!!!!
You don't need names to identify friend from foe. Did you happen to notice that when you pass your targeting reticule (before shooting) over an enemy merc your reticule turns from "BLUE" to "RED"? If it does, start shooting.

Multiple zooms would be nice - but to go along with this the render distance would need to be increased (not sure if this is something which is planned - if it is, then sorry, I'm new here!....)
Player models seem to vanish long before the effective range of the gun, or visibility of the colour flag vanishes. |

This is Powered Armour that we use, the stabalisation should be built into the suits. The higher the level of suit the better the stabalisation?
The scopes of today are able to zoom in closer than the current scopes on the rifles. This is the far future, the scopes should be able to see a scrach on the faceplate of any target.
If the sniper goes prone should't the suit engage a cloaking field to reduce being seen and killed before finding a target.
Can a range finder be included into the sight?

Greetings,
franky edwards wrote:-have the ability to make more efficient shots ie hit the damn target's head!!!!! As far as I have been able to tell, there is no location specific damage modifiers yet. I base this statement on a couple of factors, but the most telling one is shooting a friend in the back, in the head, in the hand, in the foot, and in the chest. Each of these were done multiple times without the target or myself moving, with the militia sniper rifle at about 10 meters and scoped. It is possible that the hit detection is so bad that they only appeared to go where I was shooting, but I do not believe that to be case because of other anecdotal evidence.
On July 4th, I ran into a "bug" where I re-spawned in my day cabin in combat mode with my Sniper fit. I fired multiple clips into the wall and watched where the shots went compared to where I was sighting and they were all in a fairly small area. Yes there was some variance, but not enough to make a head shot act like a body shot or a foot shot act like a head shot.
Now with that explained what I found was that against a heavy without modules, but with max mechanic and engineering, it took two shots with the Militia rifle in any location. Please note that we were only able to do this for one battle, but at least we tried.
Quote:2. STABILIZATION CONTROL ie hold breath like in cod No, what we have now for stabilization control is vastly superior to COD. As others have stated, your sway stops within a few seconds as long as you are still and squatting.
Quote:3.small clips wtf mate!!!! 3 shots and reload!!! that sucks!!!! BIGGER CLIPS PLEASE!!!! Contrary to what some people are telling you, the two best Sniper rifles in the game have only 3 rounds per clip. Having said that though, there is a prototype that is almost as good and multiple advanced Snioer rifles that have 5 round clips. Personally, I find the 3 round clips to be fine, it just takes some getting used to is all.
Quote:4. scoped targets should appear as identified targets to team. I have suggested / requested this many times. Above all other scopes / sights, the Sniper scope should be tied in to the TACNET. Anything we scope should be cataloged and tagged as if we are standing right next to them.
This, coupled with fixing the scoping range would make the Sniper far more effective without overpowering them.

I still think there should always be waver when you first zoom in. I'm okay with a skill to reduce it, as long as the waver remains in some capacity, because no-scoping and quick-scoping are idiocy incarnate. |

When I scope in using my AR on something distant and not flagged as a target, it marks it for me when I can get lined up right. The few times I've used a Sniper for the same purpose, I could mark targets at a greater distance.
So that already works. |
