I finally put >1.5million skill points into Assault suits, so finally unlock Type-A suits.
But from most of what I can see, the Type-A suits seem to be a step back from the Type-II? The Type-A took 1.5Mill skill points to unlock, has significantly less shield then the Type-II and even if you fill the additional High slot you get with 3 shield extenders, it is still significantly less than a Type-II with 2 shield extenders.
So the advantage of having the extra slot is negated, which just leaves a suit with much less survivability, but you can fit a larger gun due to the extra CPU/PG. Am I missing something? |

Maybe you can fit a weapon damage upgrade to the 3rd high slot? |

The type A suit is meant to be more of an armor tank stick a couple of armor reps on it and damage mods with one or two shield extenders and enjoy about 450-500 ehp with good regen on both sides.
That my theory anyway but I run with a creodron AR so I like to maximize damage. |

Assault suits are more armor then shield tankers
You'll want mechanic's up to 5 for max armor and and armor rep |

That extra CPU/PG will let you equip more then just an extra gun.
Electronics @ L5 brings that CPU up by 25% Shield Upgrades @ L4 bring down CPU usage by shield extenders / recharges to 12% CPU reduction (15% @ L5)
with that bonus in CPU and reduction usage you should easily be able to carry quite a lot of items as assault and have the room to try a bunch of different types of fittings (pending other SP areas).

the higher level armour and shield mods also suck up a lot more grid and cpu which means you need the advanced suit to run better mods. With higher level mods you can make an A suit much tougher than a pimped out II. |

There's a big focus on shield tanking in this build due to a lack of energy weaponry. Once there are more energy weapons on the field ripping 400 HP shields off like they're 50hp, the extra armor of the A-series suits will be much more worth it. |

So just to show the difference I will put up my type II fitting
Basic armour plate x2 Locus grenade Gek 38 Assault rifle Advanced (or whatever a step down from complex is) Shield Extender Advanced Shield booster. Nanohive.
I can't put out the hurt like the A-series can, but this set up gives me over 500hp which keeps me in the fight a lot longer for a lot cheaper. I had to drop the side-arm to fit the better shield mods, and if I eventually fit better armour mods I will likely have to lose the nano hive or just suck it up and go to A series. I usually go about 9/4 in this fit, but I also kinda suck at shooters. |

My current Type-II fit looks like:
CreoDron Breach AR Militia SMG
Militia CPU Enhancer Militia PG Enhancer
Complex Shield Extender x 2
Nanohive
This puts me at around 330 shield and the basic 100-150 armor. This is more than enough tank to survive small bursts of shots, though it still has nothing on the CreoDron AR's damage output, so those still tear me apart. I don't think anything can really stand up to those for more than a second right now anyway.... |

I'm a scout suit driver, but I was disappointed with the Type A scout suit over the Type II. My main problem is that the Type II has two equipment slots, so I can carry a drop uplink and a nanohive, and the Type A only has one equipment slot. The extra slots and better CPU/PG weren't enough to make up for this lack for me, and I used the type II until I unlocked the proto suit (holy 4 million+ SP, batman!) |

the advanced suit IS better, it has WAY more armor and only SLIGHTLY less shields. and while the CPU/PG bonus is mostly eaten up recovering the shields, it has just enough left over to fit an advanced tier weapon without having to waste the low slots on PG/CPU upgrades. (assuming good fitting skills) put those low slots to work with armor reppers and suddenly that bonus armor becomes a lot more valuable.
though for the skillpoint investment... i get your dissapointment. it's not that the advanced is bad, it's just that the type-II is so good for so few skillpoints. |

Mind you the type A are earlier than type IIs and possibly type IIIs so they may not gotten updated to reflect newer suits introduced in the line. |
