You might remember my topic on passenger skills: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=173662#post173662
This is a somewhat similar issue.
All too often, my pilot compatriot will call down his tank and will immediately be bumrushed by blue dots looking for a free ride. These people more often than not don't have voice comms turned on, so there's no way to politely ask them to exit the tank. This really ruins the synergy I've got going on with my pilot.
Request: Give pilots a way to forcibly remove gunners! I'm not sure what kind of interface it would be, but give them the option to say "I called in this tank, I paid for it, I'm the one shouldering the risk; you don't get to force your way in!"
The biggest issue with a stranger hopping into a tank is, of course, if the pilot accidentally leaves his chair for even a split second (either accidentally exiting the vehicle or accidentally switching to a gun seat) , a gunner could hop into the driver's seat and steal the vehicle. This is a very large risk for pilots, and can be a costly mistake. It would be much more comforting if pilots could be sure the right people were in their vehicles - and were capable of removing the unwanted guests if necessary.
At the very least, Pilots should be able to see WHO is in their tank. Right now it doesn't give any kind of indication. Perhaps a small portion of the HUD could list out who is occupying the pilot's vehicle. Maybe that could be toggled on/off too, so people who don't want to have that clutter can remove it.
To summarize:
- Give pilots a way to remove unwanted gunners
- Let pilots know who is occupying their guns

Section 8 has something sweet, not sure if its in the online, but I know for sure in the offline bot multiplayer. If you buy a vehicle, you get out of it, or switch to a turret and someone takes control of the driver seat. Once you come back, and enter the vehicle, you're put into the driver seat, and the person/bot in that seat gets moved to a turret, or kicked outside of the tank . I think something like that should be implemented in Dust 514. |

Boom. That's one problem solved. I really like this idea. That at least lowers the chance of a tank being stolen. How would it handle it if all seats are full, though? Would it kick out the current pilot onto the ground? |

There should be some sort of 4 digit numerical code that you can use to lock your tank to anyone that dosent know your code. |

I'd love to have some method to return to my driver's seat. More often than not, nobody jumps in for the turrets, so I have to switch. In the middle of watching over an objective, some random jumps in and starts taking off like it's his.
Locking the tank won't work in t his case, and frankly I'd rather a teammate grab it if it's in danger of being hacked and/or destroyed because I was killed waiting for it. |

only people with the skills to drive the vehicle should be allowed to drive and when the person who owns the vehicle hops in they should be able to instantly take the drivers seat. people should be able to lock their vehicles

I agree with th OP 100%. And as a second feature there should be a marker on vehicles that are actively looking for gunners.
On the other hand this problem may also go away once proper team and corporation mechanics are in place.
As far as I am concerned, if you see me on the battlefield wait for me 'cause I love being driven around to 'shoot the sh!t'. |

I'd like to add another vehicle relates suggestion. In fitting, I'd like for me to easily see which turret slot goes where on the tank. |

I'm in favor of some of this ideas. I really absolutely hate when I'm in a tank, or dropship, and have multiple passengers and park right next to an objective and everyone absolutely refuses to get out and take it. It drives me so crazy, one of two things currently happens, I move on to another objective before this one gets too hot to stay put, and try again. or two (and this is usually when I'm in a tank) I get out myself after waiting long enough to be noticed, and find myself getting cut down taking the objective while my two gunners obliviously loose the tank because they don't know to take the drivers seat and command the rep moduals.
Because is uniquely an ownership type of game, where individuals and groups hold property they earn from the course of their missions, I would like vehicles to have more secure features. (This wouldn't prevent the enemy from hacking an abandoned vehicle) but would give the driver more control in dispelling unwanted occupants. (even if the unwanted nature is only temporary.) Eject passengers by using one of the module wheel features would be pretty cool, as I'm sure once I put my boot to their rear they will do what they must to survive (like take and hold objectives.)
Also, I would like the name of the vehicle fit (not the type of ship it is) to be displayed when it's close euough to occupy. I don't know how many times I've been accused of stealing someone else's vehicle just because my vehicle was first in the que, and it somehow looked like theirs. (I know its mine because the delivery ship plays follow the leader to some degree with the owner of the called vehicle, and because I try to call it far enough away from others to avoid the confusion, but misunderstanding is still possible, and I think if they could use their cross hairs to see my vehicle is called "my-little-pony" instead of "their-lil-pony" the confusion would completed avoided.
PLUS, if I had first dibs to operating my vehicle (an initial lockout) of other players it would benefit in two ways. First, I wouldn't have to worry about team theft (even though I take precautions against this) and second, if some skilled enemy snipes me, or guns me down before I unlocked it, the opposing force would have a more assured way of taking prized weapons of war during the battle. (Which adds gameplay dynamic.)
PS: I'd also be in favor of "broadcasting" for gunners on the modual select or coms wheel feature. |

If you leave your seat or change your position and someone steals the pilot seat it's your own fault. Most tanks have space for three for a reason you know.
However I do agree that there should be something that blocks other players to enter the vehicle before the one who bough it has done so. |

Allowing someone to kick another player out of their tank is removing control from the player in a negative way.
If you're the one who bought the tank, there should be an option (maybe in the "squad orders" wheel?) to tell people to get out or switch seats while you're in it. |

Personally, I run into the issue more often, fairly rarely but more often where someone manages to jump into my vehicle before I do after it spawns. Obviously, as I am paying for and to outfit the vehicle, this upsets me a little. A settings option to limit driver or gunner seats to team members, corporation members, or the like might be an option. As soon as the vehicle spawns then it is limited to the individuals who meet the settings criteria. My concern with an option like this might be that the driver dies, for some reason, and now an undestroyed vehicle is useless to any friendlies nearby. Unlikely, but perhaps for some reason the driver hopped out to hack an objective and gets killed. Perhaps friendlies could still access the vehicle except that they would have to hack the vehicle similarly to if it were an opposing teams vehicle. |

If you paid for it you have control of what seat you get while shifting everyone around. When you get in after someones stolen your vehicle you begin in the drivers seat no matter what and everyone else has to deal; that's fair considering they are only bonuses essentially for nothing and the driver paid for the thing. Dropship's have a bit more to it; it can fly out of reach but I think investing in a large stack of cheap dropships, for any dropship pilot planning to get out. |

Yep planetside had it set up already so you did not have to worry about people stealing your Tanks and such. you could set it so only you could get in the driver seat and pilot it even if you moved to a turret unless they had permission to pilot it they could not get in it. How ever if someone hacked your tank from the other side you were SOL lol |

In the Market there is a listing for a Pilot Dropsuit, but it's not available yet. If you had to have that dropsuit to pilot the dropships and tanks it would cut down on theft, because not just any idiot could drive/fly off with your vehicle. Maybe add a Pilot Module that can be installed in other dropsuits, that way if someone wanted to they could pilot with their regular dropsuit, but they would have to sacrifice a slot to do so. |
