- PvE, specifically co-op PvE
- PvEvP
- Full racial weapon parity
- Player organizations (e.g. corporations and alliances)
- Robust tools to manage the aforementioned player organizations
- Literally thousands of SKINs for dropsuits and weapons/equipment
- In-game events that occur on a regular basis (once every two months would be fine)
- Player friendly monetization
But if I had to pick one thing from that list it would be PvE.
My advice to you, playa.

These are reasonable exceptions and pretty much on par with my own.
Something I feel that I must say however regards vehicles in Nova.
I want to be as honest as I can with you and in this instance I have to brutal. If you as player are having expectations of vehicles in this game, strong or otherwise, when it finally arrives and waiting for the return of Dropships, MAV's and HAV's then please stop doing so right now.
We might have liked them as a feature. But the day it was decided to have them in the game pretty much doomed Dust to failure.
Why? Because they were added to be 'cool'. There was no game design positives in them being in the game, it only caused problems.
If they had stayed as perhaps an 'unskilled' item drop with no fittings (as they originally were) and no skill tree to effect them it might have worked. But the rock, paper, scissors style of balancing any other FPS was pretty much rendered unusable in Dust and the balance issues between in infantry and vehicles plagued the game to its last breath.
I've yet to speak to anyone in CCP wanting to put vehicles in the game.
The new team is super enthused to be working on Nova. The returning Dev's who've come back to specifically work on Nova in Reykjavik have a 'We're gonna do this right this time!' mantra. The next sentence after saying that is usually 'and not put vehicles in it.'
The new concept as shown last year with the Demo at FF 2016 and from what I played in the CCP office this year is ship based with maps inside and on the surface of Eve ships. Vehicles are not required and deliberately so in terms of game design.
IF and must stress again its a pretty big IF we get to a point, likely as not long after the game is released and balanced enough to able to incorporate vehicles of some kind they will be 'dumb' asset drops in which only the players innate skill at using them will be the determining factor like every other FPS that has vehicles does.

Aw, I guess Ill look elsewhere for my FPS fix then. If CCP thinks its too hard for them then its too hard for them. Ill still review it when its out but as a basic lobby shooter with an EVE skin it just has no real appeal to me.
Shame.
To be honest making them power ups would just be the biggest slap in the face. It basically flies in the face of the whole concept of EVE and DUST and would just be more of a negative than anything.

I completely understand where your coming from. A single shard would be fantastic and more like Eve. I'm just concerned that if it does turn out to be just a lobby shooter we Au Tz players might get screwed again.
I find automatic matchmaking is a huge problem for Au players like myself that sometimes work nightshift. When searching for a game at 1am in AU generally it will result in a never ending search for a game. The ability to choose a different server and just put up with the terrible lag is a must have.
I will still be playing If it turns out to be single shard and laggy for AU tz, but I have a feeling there will be many players that will not even bother playing due to lag.
I went outside today... The graphics were good, but the gameplay was shit.

wat? If we have an Australian server (I'm Australian btw), then that means we could only ever fight against other Australians, regardless of where we were in New Eden. That's fine for a lobby shooter, if that's all you want. I'm hoping for Nova to be more like EvE in that we can go anywhere in New Eden and fight anyone who is there, either planetside or on stations or ships, regardless of where they physically live in the world or what server they're connected to. In EvE, the servers host complete solar systems - there are no servers for different real world regions. Yes, that brings in lag, but we already had that with people being able to connect to battle servers for other regions. People who only think in terms of a lobby shooter will not see the point in this. Only people who think in terms of the fully open environment of EvE would see this as important. I know I'm probably in the minority but that's the way it is for me. Ok but... Yo! You quoted the wrong post!! Ah, I see your point. No I quoted your post, not DUST Fiend's because it had the right presentation of Waifu in it.
What I was really focusing on, though was this:
"Australian server with AFK kicking powers"
That implies an Australian regional battle server. Or did I read it wrong? I know you didn't write that, it was just quoted in your post....

I don't expect vehicles to be in Nova at release, my opinion is that it would be a fool's error to put them in at the start.
Having said that, vehicles did add to the overall Dust experience imo. This from a pure infantry player who spent far too much time as the only AV on the field. If nothing else they were something to hate ;), for better or worse, thinking back over many Dust encounters there are more than a few memorable ones that involve vehicles.
There's more to be said about why balancing failed but that's a conversation for years from now.
Long & short of it the Nova team is wise to exclude vehicles from Nova, but there is a price to be paid in terms of game depth and engagement - perhaps we'll gain it back in terms of quality infantry gameplay.

Agreed that if we have a lobby shooter, a single shard without an AU TZ server may be an issue. However, remember when we would connect to a server during that region's quiet times, it was hard to find anyone there at all. I'm thinking Asian, which was supposedly the one Australia was "closest" to - a joke in and of itself - we were still almost as far from that one as the other two.
Matchmaking only really could work with large numbers of players. If you have regional battle servers you automaticly restrict the number of players on any one of them - unless of course, you allow people to connect to any server they like, in which case we would have a recurrence of everyone crowding onto the US server because that's where all the players are, so that's where we would get the matches.
If on the other hand, we have a true single shard, and the "battle servers" are just the same EvE servers that host the solar systems we are in from session to session, then we would only have network lag to contend with. |

Just throwing this out there but with CCP's last speculated plans, there is going to have to be some sort of default market as Nova players will not be able to produce gear. EVE has a player ran market as players do mine, produce, and sell their own resources but Nova just won't be able to do this unless CCP is building Nova to have more than shooting to their FPS title (such as mining and other industry). I could see room though along with the default market where players can sell their loot/salvage under cutting the default market but I do not see how the base market will be much different than DUST in Nova's beginning. I am not meaning to discourage; just trying to bring a realistic view. With Nova moving to Iceland though maybe Hilmar already has enough confidence in Nova to integrate it with the EVE market from the get go. After all, I would imagine adding to an existing player market would be easier than trying to combine two fully existing and separate live markets as they were planning for DUST.
