We haven't heard a single thing about the game since it was announced at Fanfest. And CCP is only saying "We're still working on it!" and so on... all of that is eerie similar to how they handled things with Legion:
Announcement. After that "We are working on it!" but no new information anymore and they just said Legion was done when they announced Nova.
Valkyrie on the other hand... announced in 2013 as Eve VR:
https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/eve-vr-an-experiment-in-bringing-virtual-reality-to-the-eve-universe/
And not even 3 months later it was renamed to "Eve: Valkyrie" and announced to be an Oculus Launch title, telling everybody "Yes, it will be released!"
http://www.roadtovr.com/eve-valkyrie-eve-vr-oculus-rift-support-gamescom-2013/
And I seriously don't get why. Unlike Nova Valkyrie has an extremely small target group already, which is only people owning a VR headset. On top of that it is a 60 dollar title with gameplay like a F2P game like World of Warships and less content. How can that make money for CCP?
Nova on the other hand got good feedback, would be a normal PC game and probably F2P with Microtransactions. Definitely has more appeal and will pull in more players than Valkyrie, due to it not requiring very expensive hardware. Yet we get not a single detail, no mentioning of it, no announcement about it having passed some new hurdle. No mentioning of when we can get to play it or anything at all. And it's been what... 8 months since it was announced?
So well. It's been half a year since Dust was shut down and even longer since we last heard from Nova. I actually don't have much hope anymore to ever see a Shooter in the Eve Universe.

In that case the next GTA must not exist because they don't talk about it.
This is how the industry works. If they talked about it, and CCP ditched it, they you would be crying, "But they promised! " Or, like No Man's Sky, they talk about things that don't end up being exactly what speculation thought it would be, and suddenly everyone is claiming they lied.
If they don't say anything, because they want to have something more concrete, then you say, "If I don't hear about it it must not exist," because of course that is how life works and anything you aren't aware of can't possibly exist...
Yes, it would be nice if we got some info, but taking the lack of info as suggestion it doesn't exist just comes off as childish. There are many good reasons for them to stay quiet other than the game not existing.
Lastly, if you pay attention to job hires at CCP, they are hiring for the game.

We just have to wait to see if something is released, and then we can pick it apart.
It is definitely harder to do now that most games I follow are extremely transparent from alpha on, but this is how the industry is.

The difference being that we know how new Projects are handled at CCP, as they told us. And it is just worrying how Valkyrie became a full fledged product in a matter of months, but for Nova we get nothing at all... which probably means it is still not green lit by the higher ups and still just a Project which might or might not come out. And Legion wasn't officially cancelled either. They presented it. Never talked about it and suddenly they stopped and announced Nova. They never directly told us that Legion was cancelled. Just that Nova is something different.

You don't know how much work went into it beforehand.
Not to mention, that everything I have read suggests Valkyrie is light on content, meaning it is a bit smaller in scope, though feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
Nova will necessitate greater care than a space shooter. It is easy to create space shooter maps, because space. Creating good FPS maps can be difficult, and takes time. Not to mention trying to get as much of the nuance and complexity of Dust into Nova without all the brokenness.
Frankly, I was impressed they had a demo out less than a year after development, and that people thought it was by and large good (at least in terms of the mechanics, which was the point of the demo).
If we don't hear any updates at FF or before, I will be more concerned. At this point, not so much.

No. It is not. CCP just isn't talking about what progress they have made so far. CCP LogicLoop is working on nova and pops into the DUST vets Discord server to say hello every so often. A direct quote from CCP Rattati from 9/14 on the DUST vets server...

Not really true about gta at all. I bought a few thousand dollars of stock on take two interactive a whole year before gta 5 was released, stocks were pretty steady until the game released that next year then it was time to sell for some juicy returns
You can certainly tell when a game will be released. look at read dead redemption rockstar announced that 1 year before its expected launch in fall 2017.
I am already another few thousand into stock for RDR 2.
With ccp its you get ZERO which is not how other game companies work at ALL. I 100% agree with the OP on this matter.
Feel like you missed out on gta 5 stock earnings? dont worry now is the time again RDR 2 is going to be a huge release in fall 2017 if you wanna quadruple your profile similar to gta 5.
YOUR telling me ccp has to stay quiet about projects?
That sure aint true for there VR stuff and here is the proof...

And how long was Red Dead Redemption 2 in development before they announced? Development cycles are quite long, around 5 years give or take, especially for Take 2 game, and they don't announce development as soon as they start...
Take Fallout 4 for instance. The development for that game started immediately after Fallout 3, albeit with a staff of only one or two people at first. Just because they didn't announce the game until a few months prior to launch doesn't mean it didn't exist.
Nova has been in development for about a year now, and given that it was announced just a few months after development had started compared with other gaming announcements, that seems rather open compared to the announcement timelines of other companies.
It just seems to me there are a lot of whiny entitled gamers out there. If games like NMS and Star Citizen announce early, when things don't go exactly as gamers speculate (and they never do) then gamers b*tch and moan about lies and vaporware. If nothing is said at all, they b*tch about the same thing.
For Pete's sake stop being little b*tches.

You have no clue what your talking about in the world of stocks and real life! You cant rely on some BS made up name like project nova or a promise made to your players. thats stuff will put your ass on the street.
Big difference, red dead 2 has been announced yes and was probably in development for a few months already correct. but unlike ccp they have a solid and trustable name not some keep your fingers crossed BS like project nova.
So for that reason alone you are wrong no one else announces weird ass projects like ccp and then calls it something else.
Thats what you do if you need to buy time or simply lie to your player base with out them really knowing. Very shady stuff.
Not whining either, what ccp is doing is the shadiest thing possible. They cant lie to the public so they make up a project instead to keep them safe.

This argument was about how ccp releases games not about if and when so called project nova will be released.
They said major companies release games like that including gta and they were dead wrong straight up.
Its just shady how ccp releases games. Not saying i hate them cause i love them and cant wait for the new game.

I would love to support ccp and throw a few k into their stock however the way they release games is not like other major companies. Where as other companies like rockstar and take two are very predictable you can trust their word right down to the name of the game from that initial announcement date. Where as ccp makes all kinds of code names and projects then rapidly releases the game or cancels the project aka legion.
That was my point.
Nothing against ccp i love them more then any of you and still cant wait for the new game.

Unlike Nova, games like GTA and RDR used an inhouse built engine. Developing that engine takes a lot of time. Nova is running on the Unreal Engine 4. So most of the stuff is already done. In addition to that they already had the assets from Dust and... we already saw a working version of the game. When other games are at a point where the devs can show something... they do. Just to get people interested. With Nova we get nothing at all. With Nova they could easily just show a new map they made, or some new weapons. Or maybe they made changes to the progression. Heck: It's been 8 months and they apparently have a team working full time on that thing. So why the extreme secrecy?

I'm always impressed by how much people beleive they understand the whole process and state of development despite having effectively zero publically released information to go off of.
Typically it boils down to "well it's obvious because of all these assumptions and conjectures Ive made!". Even when you have CPM and devs say "er.....no? Things are still progressing nicely." people will come back with "Well I want to beleive you but it's just more comfortable to assume the worst and freak out about it."
But I'm just the unofficial white knight, apparently, so don't mind me.
