I want to get this out there that I still hold my opinion that it really sucks moving Dust 2.0 to PC, but will amend that it is necessary. They built this game on the console players backs, and now they're taking what they've learned and are abandoning them.
However, given the problems we all experienced being held back by the ps3, can anyone say this wasn't necessary? PS4 is beginning to age itself.
Now we've had time to deal with this. I personally built my first gaming rig last year partially because of this. I want to ask a few questions for those getting "left behind."
1) Do you already own a PS4 2) How likely would you be to build a pc for this? 3) What are your main concerns with building a pc? 4) Do you still plan to follow development? 5) Do you still plan to hang out with your corp mates?
Getting left behind sucks, absolutely. I really wish there was a way to avoid it, but alas here we are. I want to try and help as many people as I can who have even the slightest interest in continuing on with Dust but do not currently have the capability.
In the end, I firmly believe "Dust 2.0" will be better off the more original Dust players there are playing it and guiding it.

I realize many people have budget constraints that can limit builds, but I managed to make my current build for $920, and the only thing it really needs is an OC job on the CPU.
While we all know the "$500 gaming PC" is a stupid myth, don't also be misled by the people who'd try and tell you it takes at least $1500 to make a good rig.

1) Yes
2) On a scale of 1 - 10, -100. If I built any PC, I would play Star Citizen and be part of that universe. I saw enough people who bought a PS3 just for Dust to be able to trust CCP. I won't even play anything they put on the PS4, even if it was free.
3) Time, knowledge needed, dealing with cheaters, lack of standards. I have played just a little on this laptop when it was new, playing older games I know it could handle, and even then, performance was all over the place. I played 2 brand new games with little problems, then played games 1 to 2 years older, and had to spend dozens of hours just get get them to play. One was to the point of being unplayable despite the fact that my computer had already handled games that were more performance heavy.
I don't have time for that. I want to start a game, and play the game. I want to purchase a game, pop it in, and expect it to work without having to trouble shoot for 8 hours, with the only fix being a user made file that the publisher won't create and ensure the safety of. I don't have any need or desire for the mods and whatnot that PC enables. I understand the draw, but I just want to play the f*cking game...
4) Too early to say at this point. I doubt it, because seeing what CCP has done up close for 3 years has left a horrible taste in my mouth.
5) Yes. We set up an off shore rig a long time ago, and most had already moved on. I met some great people through Dust, and plan on staying in touch with them long after CCP could give two squats about us.

I currently do not have a PS4 and I have never played games on a PC.
My main concern with playing a game on the PC is the controls. I will not be able to use a keyboard or mouse because my hands are too big to play games using a keyboard.
Whether or not I actually build a gaming PC just so that I can play this new FPS being developed will depend entirely on the game itself. I'm looking for a game that will be a challenge, will be highly competitive, and will require various levels of skill to be good at.

1) Yes
2) The likelyhood of me owning a gaming rig for any reason and of any power level in the next 10 years is around 1 in 10,000
3) First, the almighty dollar. Unless someone plans tonight donate one to me, I will likely never own one. And I am fully aware of how cheaply they can be built. Second, I would have to use a controller to play which would put me at a huge disadvantage against any player remotely accustomed to PC gaming which makes it not even worth the time investment to get one. I despise kbm controls and would rather not play at all than be forced to use them or suffer for not using them.
4) I may linger a while to cope with the loss of Dust by pestering my friends and nemeses, but I will likely be nothing more than a wallflower occasionally spooking passersby who hadn't noticed my presence until I spoke. And of course, like a meth addict scrounging for flakes of crystal in the carpet, keeping a keen eye out for a ps4 mention.
5) Pretty much all of my corp is gone. All that remains from the original LOTIS is me and my girlfriend and a couple of others we barely see anymore. I miss them all greatly...

pretty much all that although you can hook up controller and map your controls.
im probably gonna have to build one myself. not because i have a mac and all. i can run it there but im the person who finds playing games on PC "unhealthy" so ill have a dedicated one now and hook up controller

Who gives a bloody damn about platform? Real gamers will enjoy the game regardless. I still got the GameCube from my childhood. Still play gameboy advance games. Still have my Xbox 360 that I always maintain every other month. They've all entertained me so much across the years. I play those games over and over because I enjoy them.
Just because CCP decided to make this "dust 2.0" for PC doesn't mean I'm gonna cry and b!tch about it. It just gives me a bigger incentive to get inventive with what parts/money I have.
In the end, memories are all that matter, the thrill of going from 2d to 3d,the endless crawls through dungeons searching for items, the eternal struggle of not flipping your sh't when the princess is in another castle.

P.C is the best choice because its reliable on the long run . unlike ps3 / ps4 which will be obsolete in the near future until a new gaming system appears . p.c hardware/software/drives etc are easy to replace and upgrade being cheap as well . my 2010 p.c is stronger / faster then the ps4 by 3 folds . its a no brainer .

Just so you know... If you can't afford a PC you can't afford to play the future game. This was a great Free-to-Play game, but if you thought the free ride would last you are delusional. The revenue module of EVE is what CCP knows, and what keeps them in business. If you can't afford anything more than a busted old last gen system, why the hell would you expect them to keep giving you a FREE game????
What many of the console "kids" don't understand is that CCP is a business, and they need a certain type of customer to provide revenues. Teenagers and man-children don't have the disposable income to support that need. Its sad, but its a reality. CCP is not in the business of providing free entertainment. They are a company with shareholders who expect to get paid.
Dust proved to them there is a market for this type of game. That means we get a second bite at the apple. Which is much better than most games that just die. I would love to play this game forever on the PS3 with support, but its not going to happen. I am just happy they are actually doing something, and even happier that they are moving it to a platform that has the resources and longevity to handle what I hope the next game is.
Not to mention that I am ecstatic to think about the crowd that will left behind because they can't or won't pay a subscription. Good by to some to the worst elements of this game. The quality of game and gamer will only get better with this kind of move.

CCP should focus on both PC and Ps4. Now that Sony enabled an extra core on the ps4 = yay.

The case isn't strictly speaking necessary, you could actually build something yourself if you're handy. The case type has to support the motherboard type (just so the screws line up) but there is quite a bit of selection and variation within that category.

The case is very important. It doesn't have to be so pricy, you can get a decent one for ~$60 that has enough fans, is big enough for big GPUs and has all the USB 3.0 and HDD/SSD rack needed ^^
A good case will allow you to cool down your pc very efficiently. Don't get an ITX motherboard if you plan on gaming, get an ATX that is not too cheap (~$90) from msi, gigabyte or asus.

I'm not kidding...The case isn't strictly speaking necessary xD You can run an entire PC without one, provided you keep it from being in direct contact with other conductors, and provide enough airflow over the area. The Case is no doubt important for maintaining the life of the components, and (in properly designed cases anyway) maintaining airflow for cooling...but unlike a Mobo, CPU, PSU, RAM, and Storage it isn't necessary to turn the thing on xD...and it isn't entirely crazy to try to fabricate a case yourself if you've got access to the tools and materials, combined with the motivation to make it happen...but if you factor the value of your time...it'll probably still be cheaper to buy a case.

That's specifically why I never agreed with "Pc is best for gaming" mentality.
For me, games for PC is "unhealthy"
That's why k like consoles. They are dedicated. That's also why I'm probably gonna build a PC. Only for gaming.
And heck, anything is possible now a days.
Maybe even gonna tear down PS3 and MAKE MY OWN UNIVERSAL GAMING PLATFORM!
