This also goes with the following threads:
Lessons from Fanfest 2014 What Would You Expect to Transfer if a Port Happens?
Going on the same assumption that Dust is remade for a next gen system, assuming that it ends up on a platform that you're capable of playing it on.
How would you feel if all of your Assets, ISK, LP, and SP was wiped when you transfered your character to the new game? For the sake of argument, assume that you would retain all unspent AUR and boosters, but would not receive a refund for AUR spent on BPOs, Boosters, ect.
How would you rate it if you received some sort of Veteran Package that includes some unique SKINs, avatar, ect. that is only possible to get if you are DUST veteran, but still lost all of your SP, ISK, ect.
Rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being "I would not mind this at all and would play the new game happily" and 5 being "I would hate this and refuse to play the new game".
Again just kind of curious what people think since the feedback in the other thread was pretty widely spread, and Im curious on how people would react a theoretical worst case scenario.

-5? I'd dance in the streets if it meant a proper redirection of progression and player division based on EVE security space ...as explained in the other thread. A nod to the originals would be spiffy. Beyond that, nothing good can come of it unless under the restrictions already mentioned. Just IMHO. Doesn't seem too many agree though ;)

1, Quite honestly I wouldn't mind reliving the experience of the grind, especially if they made the game better and complete. Would be nice if our names appeared "Dusted" in the boards and stuff, maybe have our avatar look battle-worn. Course this is all assuming it ever happens.

I actually would not mind it, in fact i would welcome it. SP does not actually value the actual skill level of a player, you can not spec into gun game, it just values the gear. Hell, some would say starter gear is OP.
All I want, is a port, if i lose my SP, then oh well. The people getting butthurt about SP are the ones who can't do anything without protostomping.
But, you know, all proto falls to my militia forge gun anyway.

I don't have the time to gather SP like I did when I first started out. Having a nice amount at the start would be cool. If the port has good matchmaking and actual security status on maps, or what have you, then you wouldn't need to worry about this, in my opinion.

Depends, as this is kinda vague from my perspective.
Do you mean a complete wipe, as in no compensation (ex. instead of just a SP wipe and no dice, a wipe and you get a "extended" booster to get your SP back)? If so, I'd geninuly be pissed off at CCP, and would want a refund. If there was compensation, I would be a bit sad that I would have to work again, but I wouldn't mind.
ISk and other regular assets (ex. LP and LP items, DK, etc) I don't care if it's wiped. Those are burned and earned on a regular basis, and can be earned just as quickly. In fact, burning that stuff off, and allowing for an actual manufacturing system to come online might be beneficial in the long run.
Rare consumable items I'm not sure about. Those items are collected often times, and are things to be stared at, and only rarely used, mostly during events. I would hate to see those go, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Bought items and BPO's needs to stay. They can be converted into other things, or refunded, whatever, but people can't just have their investments that thy were told would have a long term impact just burned and expect people to not be completely livid. I do support converting of items, especially for BPO's (manufacturing purposes of course).
And that package wouldn't be worth it until most vets quit 10 years down the road. Also, avatars? I'd rather have actual character creation, but that's another topic for another day :P
This is something weaksauce, something I wouldn't support at the worst case, so 5.
EDIT: welp, I failed to read

I've already been through the grind three times now. A fourth time wouldn't bother me any. Although I would be mildly upset at having lost all the real life money I put into this game. But, then again, my old main has literally over a dozen boosters to its name, seven or eight of which are omega boosters I never got around to using, so I guess it's at least cool I'd have a decent head start.
How would I rate some sort of cosmetic package for being a veteran? Assuming the same rating scale as your other thing, 1. It's just cosmetic, and it shows I've played through and supported the game. Not like it's hurting anything. Although hopefully there's either more than just a medium assault skin or the skin finally fits over all suits.
As for actually losing all my ISK, assets, BPOs, etc... It'd suck. If I could keep my BPOs I wouldn't care one bit. ISK? Easy to get back, or at the very least if on the new console it's harder to obtain we'd all start on even ground so it won't matter. Assets? I only buy what I use, anyway. I sell everything else. SP? Again, everyone is starting on even ground, minus those who had boosters to pass over, but you still have to play the game to make use of active, and passive accrual is very slow. The BPOs, though? I got them through real life money, so obviously having them just snatched away with no compensation will be quite a kick to, well, everywhere. It would feel like I'm actually being stolen from.
I love this game, but I would not have paid $200+ for it, and, since I literally just got a call back from a much higher paying job just a few hours ago, I intend to put more moolah into this place. Having it all whisked away with nothing more than 'so long, and thanks for all the fish' would really hurt, and I don't mean to my wallet, even if there were a greatly improved Dust 514 just around the corner. Sure I have the satisfaction of 'I contributed to this', but I wasn't putting in donations. There wasn't a Kickstarter or IdieGoGo or whatever. I was putting money into this game specifically to get in-game assets, and while I completely understand the game will one day die and I'll lose it all anyway, having a direct spawn of this game, specifically this game but better and on a new console, that isn't going to let me keep the things I spent actual, hard earned money for? The thought bothers me. It's like completely paying for a car and then having someone come by to recall it because of massive safety issues, but when they release a new, better one you have to pay full price for the new car, even though your old one was taken away for safety reasons without compensation. As much as that old car needed to be fixed up, as great as that new car will be, you still got jipped.
The thought that Dust 514 may one day be the game we dreamed it to be.
It fills you with Determination!

3.
I would be somewhat upset at a complete wipe. I can understand if they want to scale down an SP transfer (100k for every 10 Mil SP over starting SP), as some people have some ridiculous SP, and the new system might be very different, but I would like to see at least some SP advantage, in addition to some unique items.
Characters made in Mordu's Trials (wasn't here for closed beta, hope that is correct) should get something unique, Open Beta, players etc. Obviously you could go overboard with it, so I don't want to get carried away, but the more things they can do, even if it is little, will help mend some fences.

Easiest way would be to have an 12 to 18 month delay on characred transfers
Then you will have all the PS4 newborns on a closer SP pool.
So the PS3 dusters can continue on ps3 for the 18 months and or make a new character on PS4 while they wait
And have seperate matchmaker for transferred characters for 6 to 12 months |

And have seperate matchmaker for transferred characters for 6 to 12 months I'd rather it be a delay on our access to our sp pool than for that to happen. Plus the complexity of your idea is just outright pointless when most of us would just switch to our main character once the wait period was over

I would say...
1.
I was originally about to say 5 but a certain truth dawned on me.
The truth is that the skill points we have now are only relevant to Dust 514 on the PS3. It would not be relevant when the game gets ported over to a new platform such as the PS4, PC, or both because then a port alone will mean that the progression system we have now on the PS3 will very likely be changed drastically.
Don't forget that we have pointless skill books like the ones for frame suits that don't have any bonuses to them or useless skill levels of certain skill books such as levels 2 and 4 of say Uplinks, Active Scanners, etc. Porting the game will give CCP the perfect opportunity to clean up the skill tree which is currently a bit of a mess I would say. With that said, I would expect we will likely lose at least some (if not all) SP in the process during the port.
I will never use the flawed argument of "it will help minimize the skill gap between newbies and vets" because such an argument only implies a temporary solution to a permanent reality. The reality being that there will always be large skill gaps between newbies and vets in any game even if the game's skill progression were to somehow be perfected.
As for AUR spent, I see no point in even expecting a refund on spent AUR. Maybe I can expect keeping any AUR I still haven't spent yet but I will never expect any refund for AUR spent.
For assets, even if I somehow kept all of my BPOs, I would be very surprised if no changes were made to them to accommodate for any changes to the skill/suit progression system that might come with a port. The BPOs we have now are designed for Dust 514 as it is now on the PS3. They might not work well if they are port "as is" to the next platform. And don't expect any AUR refunds on the MILITIA BPOs because I can tell you with certainty that won't happen. It won't happen because of a little-known fact about the MLT BPOs and how they use to cost 100 AUR each back in the closed-beta days.

I hope that assets, ISK, SP and LP as we now know it will not be relevant in the "new" DUST. And I REALLY hope the "new" DUST is treated like an entirely new game.
If ISK, SP, et al. transfer easily to the new game, then I'd say that new game is as poorly developed and thought out as this one, and as such is not even worth my time.

I love my SP because it lets me have a chance against other players with high SP, If EVERYONE lost SP it would not be so bad, and if that is what it takes to move to a new console and get new players so be it,
If I was CCP I would port to other consoles and I would reset everyones SP because the new players in the new market would be frustrated by being murdered by high SP players
however if an old player grinded to 50million SP they would get access to old characters and have 50 million SP to spend.
