I I never had any issues with my SP resetting in beta so I wouldn't have any issues with it happening in a port. As long as I were compensated in some meaningful way for the money I've spent on the game (other than SP) I would say 1-2, if not then 3-4

Too much aurrum, too much isk grinded, too many worst of times, too many best of times. We all worked hard to get where we are. We stepped into this game when we did and had to play catch-up just like everyone else. Why completely wipe everything everyone's worked for up to this point. We were all starter fit scrubs once and climbed our way to the top. Honestly if dust was ported and everything I had achieved so far was wiped, I wouldnt play the port. So long as dust was still up and running I'd still be herp derping in the warbarge. I understand that a port would draw in plenty of new players and they need a chance to survive on the battlefield but dammit we were all new players once and had no chance to survive on the battlefield. We all came straight out of academy into the hell that is Public Contracts and I honestly think that's they way it should be. Im not supporting all the old players getting to run full proto 24/7 in a port...I'm supporting the struggle. My favorite weapon is a basic ARR, I dont care about having to grind out proto gear again, I care about what dust really is, it's a random pile of good and bad players in varying degrees of gear, some opponents are complete scrubs in officer, others are legends in militia and that's the way I like it. Every opponent is different and everyones gear every single time is different and I honestly wouldnt have it any other way. If everyone gets reset I couldnt abide, I enjoy fighting gods in all officer gear. Arirana can 1v1 me any day of the week, I gladly accept and challenge and wont dare think of running and that's what I think the real struggle in dust is, there's always someone better than you with more sp and a better fit, and thats the way it should be....
I know the new scrubs need a fighting chance but none of us received that chance. **** those scrubs, I had to earn my place and so should they. Give all of the newbies a 6 month omega booster and we'll call it even.

4. I didn't whine when I started playing Eve in 2009 with players that had 100m+ SP. I expect all the money spent on Dust (SP, BPOs, etc.) to transfer over. A port is not a new game, it is simply moving an existing game to a new platform.
If I worked for a company for several years and got multiple pay increases, should I expect to have my salary reset to starting because we moved into a shiny new office?
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.

It should be, it's impossible to draw or keep a playerbase if a large chunk has a significant leg up in a game where time played adds any sort of competitive advantage.

I wouldn't feel hurt at all. Our progress from call of duty; 1 to call of duty; 2 isn't transferred, why should dust: 214 (numbers based on port to ps4 date) have dust:514's save progress?

meta lock new players from the old ones. which is was players have been saying since 2013. open more star systems to grow conflict out side of the same routine PC players.
rebuilding a new system from scratch is a waste of time and dev effort.Upgrade the engine,meta lock, open up space, make a deal with Sony for thePS4, job done. A port only works if you retain a player base to build on. Dust has such a ****** reputation that it needs word of mouth to spread. A whole bunch of players screwed out of SP are going to badmouth any port and drag down dust even further.

I brought 4 new players to DUST from DESTINY in the past month. They stayed because they had HELP figuring out this ******* game. Jesus CCP two 5 minute tutorial videos that say dont spend your SP and join a good corp could be brilliant ?

When people say port I think of fix a butch of sh*t and improve the game in major ways not a 1:1 port. But like dust to concept legion type of port. If it's a 1:1 port might as well not even bother. So I don't really expect all the things from the broken game to be transferred to the fixed game. If nothing is fixed then there is no reason to wipe sp isk or anything.
For sp I'd be Slightly surprised but no more than slightly. Fully expect isk to be wiped those.
I'm kind of a big deal.

Because like I talk about in my article, players were caught completely off guard by the news of Legion and it added to the subsequent fallout because of it.
I'm simply raising a topic, that in my mind, is certainly a distinct possibility in the case of a port. I think that If people can talk about it and be actively thinking about it, then if it ever does happen, they'll be far more mentally prepared.
Now obviously any number of things may (or may not) happen, this is just one that I personally think is important. In the end my goal is simply to minimize the fallout from a port announcement by making sure people are more mentally prepped for drastic changes than they were back in 2014.

I'd like to clarify that my number standing given isn't based on anything negative about this game. I play this game for different reasons than say Final Fantasy X or Metal Gear. I play those games for the story, music, game play, experience of what the characters go through.
I play Dust 514 for the comradory with friends I've made, the flexibility in play style so that I can choose what is fun for me, finally defeating the grind-achieving the optimization of a skill tree so I can play how I wish, knowing my SP allocation and items such as skins and BPOs are what make my profile unique.
This game shows that a game doesn't need graphix to look like "The Order" to be good. Heck people don't play Mario to marvel how realistic Luigi and Peach appear.
The reason I couldn't find myself to start from scratch is the same when a friend asked me to get Diablo 3 for PlayStation when my account is on PC. With all the time I've put into getting to where I am, I'm just not able to start over. |

Personally, I am against most transfers without certain conditions being met. I won't bog this reply down with all that when it's already been posted in the other thread. I just wanted to take a moment to note that your argument is maybe the most logical I've read so far in a flood of "I paid for it and because TANK! **** YOU!!1!"
I wonder if people are assuming a 1-to-1 replication, just with shinier things? What if the hypothetical release is less of an upgrade and more a new title, just with the flavor that is DUST? LEGION was a unique development apart from DUST. Sure, it was clearly influenced, and I guess we could argue those finer points of separation all day, but it was a different game. Using your D3 for example, would you expect your grind to carry over from D2? It's clearly the same franchise and more or less built on the flavor of Diablo 2, as well as Diablo. Where is that line then for whatever, if anything, comes from CCP? I mean specifically for you. Where was the line in leaving D2 to start a relatively similar grind in D3? D3 from PC to PS4 would be a tough pill to swallow, I agree. But that is the same game. Would you start over on PS4 with your friends if they released D4?
