You know the ps4 is 43x better than PS3? It has 8 gb ram, and uses two main processors by amd, it also has around 152 smaller processors to handle certain tasks, talk about speed,. Imagine if dust had that hardware to work off of, 1080p lag less battles? Sign me up! #PORTDUST514

Comparing Exclusives. Many ps4 owners haven't played the best games on ps3. Look at Resistance Fall of Man one of best games and heck I bought it for $10. The story mode = wow it is challenging and fun to play for 1 and 2 players.
Killzone. One of the best FPS.
Little Big Planet and even Infamous.
much more.
Right now the ps4 doesn't have much but I may buy one maybe.

I use both my PS3 and PS4 for just this reason, even though I have had my PS4 for a year.
Lots of great old games on the PS3, that you have to pay ridiculous amounts for on the PS4, however, all of the newest games, like Witcher 3, and Dragon Age: Inquisition are by far better on the PS4, plus there is Rocket League, and some others, plus Fallout 4 is coming out in a few weeks.

Anyways I don't think they're making anymore Resistance games but who knows. I really enjoyed to just kickback at it and the weapons were cool.

It really depends on what your cup of tea is. The handful of titles that are worthwhile exclusives are disappointing, but games that are exclusive to it is no reason not to have one. Many games that are also on PC or Xbox are worth having on the ps4 instead (in fact, any title on Xbox is infinitely better on ps4). Nordic Games bought the Darksiders franchise and just did a remaster of Darksiders 2 on ps4 that includes all of the original DLC plus reworked everything and are having talks about making a Darksiders 3. Games like The Last of Us, Dark Souls 2, Diablo 3 and dozens of others have HD remasters with all DLC included plus new content on the ps4 as well.
In short, there are plenty of reasons to have a ps4 and I for one am happy to own one.

Not sure if you have heard but the PS4 is failing to run 60 fps at 1080p. This is likely just because developers still have not learned all the little tricks like they had on the PS3. |

Now compare the ps2 and PS3. They are generally the same with some aspects being changed towards multiplayer capabilities within the hardware/software, yeah the graphics are noticeably different, but some would ask are they really?

If I do buy a ps4 my game list is
Witcher 3 = Never heard of the franchise but since Im a huge Lord of The Rings fan. The game shows a lot of promise since its open world.
Minecraft = Great game and won't pay a dime since I have it on ps3 and on my laptop.
Killzone ShadowFall = Game looks amazing. I played Killzone 3 and still awesome.
Infamous = Another great open world game.
Soma = barely released and since its a horror game = ;-;
Outlast another great horror game
Rocket League= looks extremely fun to play
That's if I plan to buy a ps4 but since I don't game much. I may just buy another Laptop because the one that I have I had it for almost 3 years. Time to upgrade

You dont need 32 gigs of Ram. Unless if you are multitasking but when it comes to gaming it won't make much of a difference.

Not really.
That hardware still packs a punch considering it's in a tiny box (smaller than my PS3 slim) that's often sold for less than 350$. The CPU and GPU being packed so close together also has some interesting benefits for communication between the two. Sony is also developing a low level API akin to DirectX12 to lessen the impact of its anemic CPU.
It's an interesting piece of engineering work if nothing else.

the apu is pretty interesting
you pull up the full specs for the apu its pretty impressive i will give it that and yes from and engineering pov it is pretty interesting ...but still not powerful
to me raw power is what matters and consoles just dont have raw power they are what they are smartly built cheap machines that produce average quality gaming when compared to whatever the most current is..
i just find i like to keep myself on the cutting edge and consoles are about a decade behind whats cutting edge
personally i want dust on pc because then it wont have a lifespan limited by console life which is very short i want dust to be like eve huge and still here 10 years from now..
and it will never be that on a console

Morte, you're screaming up and down about how superior your PC is, but have you considered the price and hassle?
I spent a solid 1500$ on my machine, and I expect it to be better than my PS4.
But the PS4 is more affordable, no hassle required (yaaay troubleshooting), and is nice and compact.
It's a very nice package and no wonder it's the fastest selling console in history.
As for the performance, you can definitely get 60FPS out of the PS4, just don't expect top notch visuals.

This runs at absolute rock solid 60FPS on the Xbox One, a console that's weaker than the PS4. It's not top notch graphics, but it still looks very nice.
CCP's main problem with the PS3 was not the processing power (though that was still an issue). The absolute biggest problem for them was RAM limitations.
The PS4 won't have that issue, it's the first console in history that doesn't have a very tight amount of RAM for its time. Your machine might have 32GB, but most desktop these days are sitting at 8GB, so you can't expect CCP to utilize more than that.

Right now the ps4 doesn't have much but I may buy one maybe. I use both my PS3 and PS4 for just this reason, even though I have had my PS4 for a year. Lots of great old games on the PS3, that you have to pay ridiculous amounts for on the PS4, however, all of the newest games, like Witcher 3, and Dragon Age: Inquisition are by far better on the PS4, plus there is Rocket League, and some others, plus Fallout 4 is coming out in a few weeks. If I do buy a ps4 my game list is Witcher 3 = Never heard of the franchise but since Im a huge Lord of The Rings fan. The game shows a lot of promise since its open world. Minecraft = Great game and won't pay a dime since I have it on ps3 and on my laptop. Killzone ShadowFall = Game looks amazing. I played Killzone 3 and still awesome. Infamous = Another great open world game. Soma = barely released and since its a horror game = ;-; Outlast another great horror game Rocket League= looks extremely fun to play That's if I plan to buy a ps4 but since I don't game much. I may just buy another Laptop because the one that I have I had it for almost 3 years. Time to upgrade

lol yeah but sopme early developed games do burn way more than 8gb
i started with 16 unfortunately the game i got hooked on for my first game ark survival evolved hasa huge memory leak
i dont really see it as a hassel
i hadnt built a machine since windows 98 was new and it wasnt that hard i dont see the hassel of a pc

is freaking ******** right supposedly over time it will consume less ramm
and developers have that option of using 5.5 gb of ramm with special permission from sony or whatever ....but still ive never seen an os consume more than 1 gb

Granted 3 of them are 1080@60fps youtube videos, and another is a stream from twitch, but that still only amounts to a gig or so.
I have yet to encounter a game that cares even though I have Chrome open basically 24/7.

My PS4 runs warm, not really hot, and it updates in its sleep mode so I basically never have to deal with it.
Controller life was a pain until I discovered that you can reduce the brightness of the light at the front, now I can get an entire day of gaming out of it.
30FPS @ 720p basically doesn't happen anymore, that's complete bull.
I don't have a single game in my library that is less than 1080p.

Morte, let me tell you a little story that happened less than 12 hours ago.
I downloaded an update for BF4, played a little bit, and got a hard lock crash.
Nothing to worry about, **** happens, and I rebooted my system.
Suddenly, I'm getting BSOD within 5 minutes every time I turn on my machine. It just refuses to stay up. The error messages were always different so I couldn't track it down to one cause. I restarted my machine 5 times until I decided this isn't going away.
Went into BIOS, downclocked my RAM because this sounded to me like faulty RAM and went on ahead into Windows.
It worked for a few hours, so I decided I probably have a faulty RAM stick and left it on memtest86 overnight.
Woke up tomrrow morning, my RAM didn't return a single error.
Boot up my PC, try to open MSI Afterburner (because I wanted to monitor my GPU in a test), and for some reason it just completely hard freezes my system. The moment it opens, boom, hard freeze. Reinstalling it did nothing.
I went into BIOS, and tried to clock my RAM back up. It works. No system instability. But MSI afterburner still crashes.
I was curious, and went back into BIOS to maybe try to overclock my CPU (which previously topped out at 4.4Ghz).
Suddenly it's running completely stable in 4.5Ghz.
All of this headache within 12 hours, is more headache than I've had with any console in my entire lifetime.
Do you see what I mean by hassle? Do you think the average person would be able to diagnose and correct any of this before getting frustrated and just saying "fuck this"?
This is why I like consoles. A simple fallback for when you want to play games that almost never fails. When they do it's a shock, when a PC fails it's "business as usual, time to troubleshoot".

PS4 hardware is more than capable of whatever CCP wants to do with it.
Heck even the PS3 would be somewhat ok if it only had more RAM. There's a thing called diminishing returns and we've hit that plateau with graphics long ago. The PS4 can handle whatever CCP wants to throw at it, as long as they don't go insane with 4k textures and tessellation on every single rock.
As for the PS4/PC thing, the main concerns in my book are these:
1. Controls
2. Cheaters
1.M/K wins against controllers, hands down. If both exist at the same time, then the console players won't be able to be competitive like they are today using controllers. The M/K implementation in DUST right now is terrible but it would not be acceptable in a PC release.
2. Cheaters. They're a big issue on PC, and DUST is going to be an absolutely prime target for cheaters.
A Free 2 Play game with permanent loss and territory control? AND it can affect another game positively/negatively? This is like a cheater's heaven. Do lasting damage, create another account for free, do more lasting damage.

Suddenly it's running completely stable in 4.5Ghz.
All of this headache within 12 hours, is more headache than I've had with any console in my entire lifetime.
Do you see what I mean by hassle? Do you think the average person would be able to diagnose and correct any of this before getting frustrated and just saying "fuck this"?
This is why I like consoles. A simple fallback for when you want to play games that almost never fails. When they do it's a shock, when a PC fails it's "business as usual, time to troubleshoot".
now did you go to the battle field forums and see if somone had already worked through this problem why were you so convinced it was a hardware problem afterall it was a battlefield update that caused the game to crash correct?

i just did a quick google search that says battle field 4 has one major bug left in the pc port which causes dirrect x to crash when your gpu is overclocked ..is your gpu overclocked?
try default gpu settings if so...
pcs have a lot more options than consoles which can make things more complicated i do not see that as a bad thing
i realize some people dont want to have to deal with that catmerc and that is a very valid point i simply dont find it even remotely tedious ..a small price to pay for the amount of options you get the overall power and the customization.. i would check to see if your gpu is overclocked battlefiel is a ported game its had 2 major updates that have fixed most all crash errors ...but as far as i read that one is still around...

My GPU is overclocked, but that isn't the same problem as the one you googled. That problem causes CTD, my problem was BSOD's every 5 minutes upon turning on my machine.

I don't disagree with you.
I love my PC, I love tweaking it, I love the power I have over it to adjust it just the way I like it. I wouldn't have spent 1500$ on one if I didn't. But we're in the minority, most people just want to get back from work, sit on a couch (or desk), and play their favorite game expecting it to just work.
The PS4 IS pointless for us, people who are tech savvy and love the tweaking, but it's not intended for us.

No we don't.
Whenever someone claims there are cheaters in DUST we just laugh at them on go on our merry way.
Cheating on consoles is infinitely more expensive and time consuming than on PC, and it's easier to get rid of them (console bans).
And while CCP has experience with dealing with botters in EVE, this is a completely different can of worms that I doubt CCP can successfully tackle when no one managed to do it for two decades.
First person shooters are incredibly susceptive to cheating due to the nature of their gameplay, far more than pretty much any other genre, and successfully combating them in one game doesn't necessarily translate directly to the other.

Consoles aren't holding anything back.
If anything they're making sure people can still play games on decently priced hardware. Developers don't get lazy, they try to squeeze as much as they can from consoles, and the PC benefits.

Actually consoles are holding it back. In the birth year of dust, there where many great ideas that simply where not implemented due to the constraines and the limits of the ps3. Even now half the problems still exist within the game due to the limits of the console. If dust would have been on the PC from the beginning we would be playing a hole different game, Better graphics, less lag and a hole lot more toys to play with, along with better and more maps. Not to mention updates that could be done when ever they felt like it. And i'm sure there are many more reasons.
The point is consoles are a waist of funds, manpower and resources that could be better spend on a pc stable version.
Imagine Eve on a console, it would send it 5 years back in time, with a hole lot less to play with. Now imagine Dust on a PC, it would send it flying into the future.
First a good game must be created on the PC, with better webs woven into Eve. Then they should consider porting to consoles. First A then Z not the other way around.

PS3 was about 8 years old by the time DUST released.
This isn't the console's fault, it's CCP's fault for releasing it on hardware that was around from when I was in 2nd grade.
CCP Shanghai was also extremely mismanaged by every account, and most of the blame can be put on that. So no, we wouldn't have the DUST we wanted because CCP themselves were incompetent. Under Rouge and Rattati it could be very different, but if the same team that was responsible for DUST before them was to tackle a PC DUST, what we would get wouldn't be much better.
PS4 is 2 years old, and it's based on x86 so porting would be extremely easy to any future console.

Oh no, CCP's vision definitely could not be fulfilled on the PS3.
It simply could not handle everything they wanted to fit on it. There comes a point where you need to stop looking at optimization and start looking at better hardware, and DUST + PS3 was definitely that point.

The game would be better since the team had there experience in building PC games and there experience with EVE, the incompetents came only when they tried to do the same on a console. Granted Rouge and Rattati did a good job with what they where given. But if they had stuck to the PC, it would not have been such a mess to begin with.

And in time your going to have the same cary on there is now. They are going to have to port it again and again and again. Which means building the game partly new, over and over and over. Just so that it can keep up with the progress beeing made. Does the PS4 make porting easyer, perhaps. But with the PC there simply are no limits, no porting, no nothing. So will CCP spend money on trying to port a game constantly over again or spend money on enhancing the gamers experience...hmmmm. Why keep on running around the bush, if there is a better way.
As for your concerns on Cheaters, I'm sure CCP has there ways for them, even for FPS. Hell half the Economy in EVE would not exist without them. No matter what you say, but many bots keep the flow of goods going and if it was not for RWT in the golden years, there would have been alot less isk beeing thrown around now. Sometimes you need a little bit of evil to keep things balanced. Most company's use this grey area, but i can tell you now if they really cared and wanted, they would box there game up like a prison fortress. The fact remains most company's don't care, it's to time consuming and it drains funds, they just make it look like they do, just enough to stop people from whining like little girls.
Not to mention i'm sure in time PS4 will have enough of its own cheaters, so it's not like it's impossible there either. |

It also wouldn't take many resources, at all, to port. Evidenced by the quick and easy ports being done from PC to PS4 (Warthunder, Warframe)
What we have now is extraordinary. If the game is to be ported, it needs to be completely rebuilt, not just ported as is, because the game is simply bad compared to modern standards in many aspects - and management knows that.
Built right, in the future we wouldn't need that, a port could be done fairly quickly.
And I\m not talking about PS4 handling DUST >now<, I'm talking PS4 handling every single promise CCP made about DUST since they first mentioned it. 5x5km maps, large scale combined arms, everything.
There isn't much you can't do on modern hardware if you aren't looking for top notch visuals.
As for cheaters, CCP cracked down HARD on botters, I have no idea where you're getting that idea from.
There's nothing healthy about cheaters, botters I can maybe see in a stretch, but cheaters just ruin the game for everyone.
And I HIGHLY doubt that CCP can do anything about them. Two decades of online games and I've yet to see an FPS game that wasn't eventually infested with cheaters. Even games like CSGO, the second most popular game on steam, in which Valve has every interest to crack down on cheaters, was affected so much by cheaters that in a big ban wave, everybody suddenly went up 1-2 ranks above their usual rank, because the cheaters were keeping them down.
And that's a paid game, with absolutely zero effect on anything.

There was this single-player game I used to run as a kid. It wasn't subbed, but you had to buy it up front. Anyway. Me and my friends always go so frustrated with the campaign mode because we would always lose our way in and forget how to get back out. That is until we discovered that you could just peel the little colored stickers off the sides and put them back on in order without the grind of rotating all those little cubes back into place.
...any opportunity to get the upper hand I guess. Can't run away from it.
