Not everyone is going to have the money to make such a beast, I have a computer my self it's from the digital storm crew, I would want it on PC but then again not everyone has the cash to buy a computer capable of running games with 60 fps in 1080p, that's why right now ps4 is he ultimate answer to the call of dust.

If I do buy a ps4 my game list is

Witcher 3 = Never heard of the franchise but since Im a huge Lord of The Rings fan. The game shows a lot of promise since its open world.

Minecraft = Great game and won't pay a dime since I have it on ps3 and on my laptop.

Killzone ShadowFall = Game looks amazing. I played Killzone 3 and still awesome.

Infamous = Another great open world game.

Soma = barely released and since its a horror game = ;-;

Outlast another great horror game

Rocket League= looks extremely fun to play

That's if I plan to buy a ps4 but since I don't game much. I may just buy another Laptop because the one that I have I had it for almost 3 years. Time to upgrade

That hardware still packs a punch considering it's in a tiny box (smaller than my PS3 slim) that's often sold for less than 350$. The CPU and GPU being packed so close together also has some interesting benefits for communication between the two. Sony is also developing a low level API akin to DirectX12 to lessen the impact of its anemic CPU.

It's an interesting piece of engineering work if nothing else.

Morte, you're screaming up and down about how superior your PC is, but have you considered the price and hassle?
I spent a solid 1500$ on my machine, and I expect it to be better than my PS4.

But the PS4 is more affordable, no hassle required (yaaay troubleshooting), and is nice and compact.
It's a very nice package and no wonder it's the fastest selling console in history.


As for the performance, you can definitely get 60FPS out of the PS4, just don't expect top notch visuals.

This runs at absolute rock solid 60FPS on the Xbox One, a console that's weaker than the PS4. It's not top notch graphics, but it still looks very nice.

CCP's main problem with the PS3 was not the processing power (though that was still an issue). The absolute biggest problem for them was RAM limitations.
The PS4 won't have that issue, it's the first console in history that doesn't have a very tight amount of RAM for its time. Your machine might have 32GB, but most desktop these days are sitting at 8GB, so you can't expect CCP to utilize more than that.

That is ridiculous that 3 gigs of ram get taken due to the os.

Well the ps4 is capable of recording while gaming (Using the Share button) but not sure about other features.

And people say MS Windows is a ram hog, "gaming-optimized OS" my pasty Caldari ass

i'm not banking on it, in fact I sold my PS4, gave my old PS3 away and bought a new PS3.

never played PS4, got too hot, constant updates, short controller battery life, didn't like the controller,
games still in 30fps and 720p

my old PS3 was overheating and made a lot of noise so I bought super slim with SSD

We can and it would be pretty cool, many PC only gamers are right to be worried about the PS4 holding back Legions progress while othera just hate console gaming and gamers. The PS4 hardware is stuck where it is forever while if CCP wants to strech the games limits it may require better hardware which PC gamers dont have too much of a problem with as long as they dont have to constantly upgrade their rigs.

I thinks its way too late to leave console gamers behind, its unfortunate that we'll have to deal with the PS4 hardwares limit (whatever that limit is) but it would only be fair.

Morte, let me tell you a little story that happened less than 12 hours ago.
I downloaded an update for BF4, played a little bit, and got a hard lock crash.
Nothing to worry about, **** happens, and I rebooted my system.

Suddenly, I'm getting BSOD within 5 minutes every time I turn on my machine. It just refuses to stay up. The error messages were always different so I couldn't track it down to one cause. I restarted my machine 5 times until I decided this isn't going away.
Went into BIOS, downclocked my RAM because this sounded to me like faulty RAM and went on ahead into Windows.

It worked for a few hours, so I decided I probably have a faulty RAM stick and left it on memtest86 overnight.
Woke up tomrrow morning, my RAM didn't return a single error.


Boot up my PC, try to open MSI Afterburner (because I wanted to monitor my GPU in a test), and for some reason it just completely hard freezes my system. The moment it opens, boom, hard freeze. Reinstalling it did nothing.
I went into BIOS, and tried to clock my RAM back up. It works. No system instability. But MSI afterburner still crashes.

I was curious, and went back into BIOS to maybe try to overclock my CPU (which previously topped out at 4.4Ghz).
Suddenly it's running completely stable in 4.5Ghz.



All of this headache within 12 hours, is more headache than I've had with any console in my entire lifetime.

Do you see what I mean by hassle? Do you think the average person would be able to diagnose and correct any of this before getting frustrated and just saying "fuck this"?



This is why I like consoles. A simple fallback for when you want to play games that almost never fails. When they do it's a shock, when a PC fails it's "business as usual, time to troubleshoot".

PS4 hardware is more than capable of whatever CCP wants to do with it.
Heck even the PS3 would be somewhat ok if it only had more RAM. There's a thing called diminishing returns and we've hit that plateau with graphics long ago. The PS4 can handle whatever CCP wants to throw at it, as long as they don't go insane with 4k textures and tessellation on every single rock.


As for the PS4/PC thing, the main concerns in my book are these:
1. Controls
2. Cheaters


1.M/K wins against controllers, hands down. If both exist at the same time, then the console players won't be able to be competitive like they are today using controllers. The M/K implementation in DUST right now is terrible but it would not be acceptable in a PC release.


2. Cheaters. They're a big issue on PC, and DUST is going to be an absolutely prime target for cheaters.
A Free 2 Play game with permanent loss and territory control? AND it can affect another game (EVE) positively/negatively? This is like a cheater's heaven. Do lasting damage, create another account for free, do more lasting damage.

More people would join your crusade if you didn't come off as an *******...

My GPU is overclocked, but that isn't the same problem as the one you googled. That problem causes CTD, my problem was BSOD's every 5 minutes upon turning on my machine.



I don't disagree with you.
I love my PC, I love tweaking it, I love the power I have over it to adjust it just the way I like it. I wouldn't have spent 1500$ on one if I didn't. But we're in the minority, most people just want to get back from work, sit on a couch (or desk), and play their favorite game expecting it to just work.

The PS4 IS pointless for us, people who are tech savvy and love the tweaking, but it's not intended for us.
