So recently in The Barbershop I've been saying all this about how MinScout is the best blah blah blah and it was brought to my attention that Gallente Scout and Caldari Scout aren't too shabby either (didn't hear anything about Amarr though so either it sucks or no one uses it)and that got me to thinkin There should be a way to determine which scout is actually best. The three categories to rank them in are as follows:(please rate a race in one of the following categories or all that applies) Ewar Assassinating Survivability Hopefully ya'll have something to say on this topic as I'm officially out of my element here.

Barbershop is great at some things terrible at others.
They base most of their assumptions off of how much they like the suit, not how useful it actually is in PC or Pubs.
Here are the power rankings for the scouts:
UTILITY: Gal > Min > Cal > Amarr
SLAYING: Gal >>>>> Cal = Min > Amarr
PC: Gal >>>> Min > Cal > Amarr
Pubs: Suit doesn't matter one damn bit
Fun: Min >>>> Gal = Cal > Amarr
Reasoning behind all this.
Utility. Gal is leagues ahead of all other scouts in terms of utility, and it always WILL BE until they change its bonuses. Right now, it gets a bonus to damps (a low slot module) as well as good passive armor regen (Another low slot module). The ability to run a single damp is godsend on it. With the 3 spare lows, you have insane utility in the form of hack mods, speed, scan, WHATEVER. Hacks better than the Min in practice. Hack speed don't mean crap if you're scanned going up to the point. Min is second due to innate hack speed, Cal has low dB long range scans if you REALLY need it, and Amarr is barely useful. With the power of close range scans, Amarr bonus is less useful now, especially due to the nerf of range mods.
Slaying. Remember what I said about low slots? Same thing is what makes Gal an infantry powerhouse. Good shield buffer combined with armor regen lets you run 2x speed, 1x damp, 1x ferro and two extenders, making it a fairly sturdy and mobile assault scout. Faster and tougher than any of the other scouts. Min and Cal are tied due to their roles and utilities. I find that they can each slay well compared to each other. I prefer Cal for ranged fights with ARR and Min for shotgun/knives. Amarr is just....bad. Too slow, has to use too many damps, no amount of armor will make up for it. You want the Amarr scout to be useful? Give it a freaking damp bonus or increase base speed. It either needs to run only 1 damp, or be decently fast without a kincat.
PC: Kinda a combination of the above two. You want something that has lots of utility and decent slay power in a PC scout. Gal is leaps and bounds ahead. Min and Cal are ultimately up to preference, with a lean towards Minmatar due to hack bonus. Amarr scouts in PC are the real men. Seriously. Suit is bad.
Pubs: Doesn't matter, you could run the most stupid fits on a pub scout and still do well if you're not horrible at the game.
Fun: Minmatar by far. Seriously, if you're looking to squeeze fun out the game, RUN IT. It's fast, fragile, and absolutely hilarious to play as. Put on mybos and punch people to death like the biotic man, or go stealthy and stab everyone. Speed fit for lulz. Gal and Cal on equal footing, as they are both solid scouts with their own flavor. Amarr is honestly a pain to run. I've tried. It wasn't fun at all. I felt like I should be playing a damped assault suit.
There's my take on the whole ordeal. Hope that clears up any questions.

I have Gallente, Caldari, and Minmatar, in terms of stealthy slaying the Gallente is best, though the Min has a good niche as a speed tank/speed hacker. |

Also have all the scoutsGǪ would not say one is the "Best" Run them all with a style that suits them and they all perform pretty well in their own right. Far more balanced than they once were. Amarr could use a tweakGǪ Gal was once the all around best choice, but that has changed now.

Dunno if what you are saying is true here. Gallente is the best scout overall, Minmatar is ok but possibly not ok enough because the hacking and speed advantage you get with this suit may not be enough to compensate for what you lose for not being gallente, the Caldari has no niche and is just globally inferior to the Gallente except maybe in terms of out of combat regen and a slight advantage in scanning range (but since passive scans are a joke right now it doesnt help too much). For this very minor advantage it has to sacrifice quite a bit.
I just recently got Gallente up to 5 (I had not tried it since the old respec where I went with Caldari Scout) and Im making equivalent fits to my old Caldari suits to try them out in the same role, so far Ive deleted every Cal fit Ive duplicated, the only one I anticipate keeping is maybe my field sniping suit.
But you're spot on about the Amarr, that thing is a stinker. |

It realy boils down to these two:
Ewar masters: Gallente.
Asassination: Minmatar
Suvivability: Depends. In a straight fight with typical suit weapons only, the gallente wins because of its range. In terms of playstyle, definitly minmatar. Gallente is all about sprint in shotgun, shotgun, shotgun die. Minmatar is about being sneaky, flanking, and ambush only. I save far more suits in my Min Scout.
To put it bluntly, there is little the gallente scout can do that an assault couldn't do better. Other wise so many people would n't complain about min assaults with shotguns.
No suit can hack better than the min, or asassinate like the min, or ecourages sneaky gameplay like the min.

So I don't switch from one to another to try to find the best one for a given role. As far as I can gather, the Caldari scout is good for moving fast over distances outdoors, cloaked, and semi-sniping with the RR from behind a hill or something. ^ And I'm pretty much the same with Gallente (except that I do use the SMG from my Matari brethren).
I haven't spent any serious time in the Cal or Amarr scout suits, and only used the Minmitar on an Alt that doesn't get much play time. It's fun but the utility and flexibility of the Gallente is hard to beat in all honesty. The dampening is essential to most forms of scout play and the low slots reign supreme for most scout work. The Min has a nice slot balance which gives it it's own flexibility but the bonuses are so situational.
I think Ghost's input seems spot on in all honesty, but I couldn't say for sure due to my lack of experience with the other suits or PC.
I do know that I've never used the shotgun to any large degree on the Gallente and most people think of this as a shotgun scout suit. Honestly, being a scout isn't about what weapon your using it's about your play style on the field.
Gotta say I'm really tempted to try the Amarr next, just because "hard mode". |

Gal scout is by far the best, no weaknesses, best at most roles.
Then comes the Cal scout, if played the right way which is actually rare. The nice scan range and good shield stats make it very survivable as long as you don't have to deal with gal logi super scanner.
Min scout is on average inferior to the others BUT it has some niche roles where it crushes the other scouts. And it's funnier. No one can kill sentinels like the minja, no one can hack like the minja.
Amarr was excellent until the successive nerfs to scout ewar (scan rings, cloak scan range penalty and useless range amplifiers). If range amps are made decent again, the Amarr scout will be a pain in the ass to deal with except if you have a gal scout. Right now if you want nice passive scan, go Cal scout. |

Not really what I'd consider "scout" activity.... Recon & slay from the flanks is where caldari scouts shine. With the damn & passive range bonus cals can get close & provide non stop passive scans. Only problem is standing nearly naked, uncloaked, right next to the reds doesn't allow you to do it long.
With ewar being so f'd right now, uour best bet is to stack dmg mods (go krins)in your highs, damp & kincat in your lows. I'll run a RR with magsec or a ARR with a bolt pistol. Slap on either a scanner or uplinks & your good to go. With this, the bonus will show itself as catching red scouts with 1-2 extra seconds before they gank you.
Personally, cal scout is my fav followed by gal then min.

For me personally - Gallente Scout all the way. I have such love and passion for the Gall scout and I am really not a Gallente lover usually.
Used the Min scout a fair bit in the past that is cool too, not really used the Cal scout much and have never used an Amarr scout.
The Gall slot layout is perfect for what I want to do. High slots are not really worth as much for my troll style. I mean playstyle.
This is the turning point, the rising of the tide.
