On the game load up times yes and texture load times. For framerate - near zero benefit. (barring the texture load moment framerate) KERO-TRADER is my official Eve character for Dust trading.

If you can remove a few screws, slide a piece of metal out of a another piece of metal, replace that piece of metal with another piece of metal and slide it back in, you can put an SSD into the PS3. Hybrid drives also works wonders as long as the SSD swap area is large enough.

It's pretty discouraging when the lead dev suggests swapping out the HDD on your system just to get halfway reasonable performance :/

It's really annoying and it's a thing that hasn't been fixed since beta. I could use a calculator but it would be much easier if it's just displayed in game.

Just make sure you have a caddy - my old 60GB fat PS3 came with one as it came with a hard drive in the first place, but when I had to replace that with a 12GB slim model (12GB of flash as opposed to an HD) that model doesn't have a caddy. Personally a pure SSD would not work for me since I have a shitload of games from PS+ on the hard drive, and price/GB is still very expensive. Currently I have a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB (with 8GB of SSD) which works like a charm. Fits snugly in my PS3 slim (not ultra slim) as well.
