I understand a few rage quits here & there , because of blueberries don't push or hold points or they keep shooting you in the back or jumping in front of every shot etc , but when everyone says "fruck it , I'm out" and leaves a entire team chasing one red dot far in the mountain tops . I'm like WTF , can't CCP just make a penalty system when a team has under 6 players to forfeit the match & give a minimum payout to those that fought & keep the matches moving ( instead of waiting 15min ) or a lock can't leave battle system after 1st 3minutes . penalty for butt hurt players that quit every other battle should be noticeable . reduce LP or something CCP . they only lost 5clones & all left asap .

Why? If you hold the contract, you get paid. If you decide to leave, you don't get paid.
All the resources that you've used is already coming out of your pocket (fittings), as for MCC costs, the contractor pays for it, so that wouldn't be a fee.

Eh I can't say with how the game is right now the penalty would fly. It's bad enough trying to get into a match right now. Forcing people to stay in the match won't solve any problems, it would just make more people camp in the MCC or stay in the redline because they are forced to stay but gave up. Some times their perfectly valid reasons too. Join a match in progress, why should you stick around for the rest of the 5-10 min of the match when the enemy team is spawn camping the redzone? Just to feed the KDR of the other team?
It's also not uncommon to push the objective, fight a bit and die and find out just how few people your team has when you get to see the numbers on the deployment screen. Wasting your time in a 3 vs 12 or worse match is no fun. People who don't leave those extremely unbalanced matches usually just sit in the red line and snipe anyways. It's about all you can do against those odds other than die horribly.
Plus you have to consider the player base is already shrinking and matchmaking can take forever as it is if you pick anything but public Dom matches. FW can be a joke for certain factions at various times of day and your chances of getting into a Skirm, Aqu and Ambush battle are almost non existent at times. If you applied the most obvious penalty most games would have for leaving, aka unable to deploy to another battle for some timed penalty it would drive people away.
It's not people leaving battle that is causing the problem. It's the fact the player base is so small that not only are matches half empty most of the time with 10-12 people to a team instead of a full 16, but there is rarely any players available to fill in partial teams. Outside of the first minutes of a match rarely do you see any one join a battle in progress. Claiming that they should stick around and take up space is stupid. I would rather people leave than stay and not contribute in any meaningful way.
There is already a penalty for leaving battle btw if you think about it. First off you get no rewards at all. No isk, no SP and none of your kills, hacks, etc seem to count towards your daily missions if you don't complete the battle you were in. In most cases you also wasted a good chunk of your time already just trying to get into battle and deploy before you left, never mind the time you spend in battle before leaving.
Honestly we need the carrot not the stick here. Give people a reason to want to play the game, not try and force them to play it.

the match making is working correctly . the teams that left were known corps & players . was trying to take a picture of them leaving battle after the first few kills , but they pressed that "leave battle" button fast lol so idk what could be done . ain't trying to wait 15min for a Dom to finish when there aren't any enemies to shoot at . even Mario kart racing with R.E's on lav's is losing its flavor =ƒÿæ

Cowards are a recent problem. I mean we've all DCd before and I've been in a corp squad and left battle to pick up a corp mate but those incidents do not happen all that often. I've even been in battles where my team was winning and we had 3-5 leave battle causing the loss. That will have you asking why blueberries? |

Think of it this way though. The corporation shell out isk for the clones and MCC on the asumption that you will fulfil your contract and fight for them. If you don't fight they've wasted isk, even without paying you. You should have to pay to cover their loss. |

Why try to police the game ? I leave matches that are played on grounds that glitch , like the underground where all people do is camp the sides where you jump down onto , with MD's and scramblers , all the while jumping to the back area's laying links because if you don't have bio's you can't reach those places and again , if you don't have MD's you can't do anything about that , people have complained about that for awhile now , I get that ground I leave .
Some people just know the tricks of some maps and don't want to be bothered , it's silly to punish people for that and if you want to police the game then people will just stop playing , I mean .. why go threw the hassle when your already dealing with bugs and glitches that get no attention .
Some just leave like DustPlayer , because they can .. it's their choice , I might not like it but it's their loss in SP's and ISK , who's to say that they would contribute anyway so I think that's enough .. you can't motivate players that don't want to be .
People need to start thinking about others before themselves and see the bigger picture instead of trying to nerf and create restrictions , who's to say your idea's are right to begin with and when you don't think about others and what they might be going threw , you become self-centered and that's a bad attribute .

Penalizing players for quitting won't stop them hiding in the refline. But it might encourage more people to fight, since leaving is less appealing.
If your team is going to lose, get a cheap suit and try to inflict some pain on the other team. You will make a profit, and if you are lucky the enemy will make a loss. This means you still get a kind of victory, even if you lose the match.
We should get paid more if we are outnumbered too. There should be a pot of isk at the end, shared amongst your team. If you have less players then obviously you will get more isk. |

If you want to wait 15min in a empty match & make your below avg isk payout . by all means wait the 15min's or! You can receive a minimum enemy forfeit payout & move to the next battle . or lock them in & force a fight out of them .

Paying to enter a match that doesn't pay much of anything to begin with isn't going to solve any problems. Say you stick around in those horrible match ups. The ones where half the time you spawn and die instantly inside the redline because 3-4 snipers on the enemy team, and maybe a proto rail tank are sitting waiting for you to appear. On some maps there is literally no where you can spawn that the enemy can't shoot at or get to via fast scout suits.
So you play the match, probably get next to no WP since you can't kill any one before you die. Even if you use cheap/free suits during all this by the end of the match your looking at a lame 3-4k SP (basic reward with no real WP to boost it) and maybe 100-150k isk, less if your WP is so low your last on the list. You might get a mere 50k if your team didn't even manage to kill more than a handful of clones.
For all that you spent 15 min+ of your time on just the battle, never mind searching and deployment times. Your asking people to waste their time just to pad the KDR happy people on the enemy team? It's not like the matches can really be turned around for the most part. Once your MCC loses shields your pretty screwed most of the time. Even if you do hack the objective most of the time you'll run out of clones before the enemy's MCC ticks away if they held it the entire match.
Which I feel is perhaps one of the biggest problems with Dust outside of maybe the Acquisition game mode. True turn around and close battles are too hard to come by. Once a team gets a definite advantage it takes a monumental effort to over come that advantage. Usually takes one really good team and another crappy team to do so. Which leads to a problem in that if you try really hard, all you do is drag the loss out and cost yourself more money for very little reward.
The only saving grace DUST has right now is the fact winning doesn't mean much in pub matches since WP gain is the center of everything in terms of isk and SP rewards. in factional warfare however drop outs are even more common since the rewards for losing a match are extremely pitiful.

So , using Apexes is now considered a stomp . lol you cant be serious . proto stomps use to exist mainly running ambush back in the day ( 3 tanks on the field and ads hovering around by full qsync of teams ) that's a stomp . besides that , it wasn't like a bunch of noobs left / leaving battles , they were vet player's in this case. but hey , there has to be something CCP can do to make player's stay in battle & fight . something appealing has to be offered up . if you're in a FPS / Tactical game & afraid to die ( why play it at all )

You can not impose a penalty for leaving battle.
What you can do is make it actually profitable to both stay and participate. Logic seems to be something lost long ago on these forums so I have wasted my breath here.

This is why I wanted DUST to be, at its foundation, a game about clone warriors being forced to fight for their Amarr overlords. Then, it would make sense to keep people in a match and reward them by not taking the isk they already have.
Therefore, you'd start out with 100,000,000 isk and as long as you fight, you get to keep it. As a slave though, you don't really get to spend your money on anything. Gear is free.
This is where Aurum comes in. As a show of leniency, you will be allowed to cash in your isk so as to keep your clone. Failure means termination. So, you'd lose your character unless you pay up. So, buy more isk with Aurum!
Oh well, CCP went with their idea and look where that got us.

Trust me it doesn't work very well to any one involved. Another online game I used to play was DCUO and they started to penalize their players for leaving instances early with out permission. IT was mostly focused on PVP because people would leave battles to prevent a loss but it still affected the rest of the game. I can't remember if it was a 5 or 10 minute timer in where you couldn't deploy for anything after you left a battle but it was annoying. Also in a team work related online game it wasn't just the person who left willingly that had to suffer.
Even if you got dropped by PSN crashing or other server/internet related issue you were still penalized, and any one you were grouped with suffered as well. After all they either had to wait for your penalty to go away as well, or kick you and find another person. Think of how many times a glitch, bug or something kicked you from battle? What about those end of battle glitches in where you are forced to leave battle because it won't remove you from battle for 2-5 minutes? Should you be penalized further or do you really think the game would be able to tell the difference?

Basic pubs, Advanced pubs, Free-for-all pubs. Switch the loot to closer resemble keep what you kill, like FW is now. Players will return for this. |

You can't pay more - Tryhards will just tryharder .. Noobs will still be noobs. Penalties - It's already enough of one being deployed, this won't help.
Rewards - possible.. but how to add them?? WP rewards benfit Logi/AV the most - Kills benefit Assaults/Heavies/Vehicles - Hacks benefit Scouts.. so any on of those being rewarded is not fair...
Bonuses for doing all of the above is an option to encourage vets to 'carry' teams
X - WP (scratch that, rather than it being farm WP, make it Scans/Spawns/Triage, direct rewards for team support) X - Kills X - Hacks X - Objective defence/assault X - Assists
For it to be balanced, players reaching X amount of ALL of these (stops Logi having as much unfair WP advantage) receive a battle reward (ISK/SP/Salvage) for their contribution on the battlefield (this should not be too easy to earn)
I stay in battles, carrying the worst of blues.. (like the guy humping a squad mates vehicles yesterday) usually against tryhards.. who to improve the situation and tryharder when the battle gets easier so the fix is really having mercs grow a pair and stop being scrubs, sadly CCP are unable to give you an update to fix that

Closer to the mark, would be paying LESS to tryhards using PC fittings in Public matches.
OR, a WP decrease depending on the level of gear you used to waht you killed... eg. Proto Ck.0 kills CA-Frontline = 10 WP (do we really need to reward 50wp for someone being a scrub?) This would encourage the proto tryhard to make an ADV fit and earn 25/30 WP for killing Frontline fits.. Or they could do themselves and gameplay a favour and use basic to stomp noobs earning your 50 WP

In all honesty the lag is real at times since RUST415 is stationed across the globe from where I'm at ( The States ) lol so I get those affects as well "smh" .

So this is your alter ego lol but on the realz , I don't even care no more as long as CCP does something to fix the 3 vs 16 matches or people leaving asap at the first sign of competition . its a war game! This is getting to be garbage. I've played 3 matches today and the same stupid **** has happened. We rush to the point, cap it then the enemy team makes their way to it. We get pushed back, I check teams and it's near even or 1 down on either side... yet there are only 3 players actually fighting on my team. The other 8-11 people are doing WHAT?!?!?!
I'm looking at a match screen now that is 10 v 12, my team down. Yet there are only 3 blueberries on the map. One being me. What the hell are players doing? Afk farming while not getting kicked?
This is so lame. I want to play but my team dosent. Why the **** are you people queuing up and not playing the damn game. Even with leavers there are enough players in my game. WHERE ARE THEY AND WTF ARE THEY DOING?!

This doesn't help new players who still need months of game time to start getting proto gear....
I've been playing for 2 months. I have 20mil isk, 4.2mil lifetime SP. I literally can't own a proto suit yet. During this event, everyone and their mother were running proto. Every death is some k.0 suit. I don't think people need more incentive, then the incentive that you out stat anyone not running the same... |

Too true. Then one 4 man squad looks like gods taking a whole point on their own.
You should see with how rare heavy sentinels are now, when mercs see me pull mine out, they all cluster behind me. I believe the issue is that mercs are trying too hard to be economical. Isk is not cash. Just an FYI.

I had suggested this in my own thread not too long ago:
The current problem highlights the risk-free nature of both joining battles and being able to leave them on a whim.
Why not make it so you can only bring X amount of gear to each match, always including Militia Starter BPOs by default (they can't be lost in this example). Lorewise, are you going to bring your WHOLE armory with you to every battle?
- You quit, your stuff goes up for salvage as gear or straight isk value to your team at EoM to help reimburse them for your sorry a$$.
- You lose the battle, you keep what you kill/help kill.
- You win the battle, you keep what you kill/help kill.
This creates four incentives: 1) Buy BPOs to give CCP dosh to risk less gear. 2) Makes quitting hurt the pocketbook & isk-pocketbook 3) Makes an incentive to play a sh!tty match in order to keep your team's deserter's stuff. 4) Puts a downward pressure on metalevel and expenses of gear brought to each match in case you DO end up wanting to leave, or even stay and fight.
Further down the line, you could also set something up in PC where if Corp A launches an offensive against Corp B's armory, you could have some BIG isk value up for grabs if A can only bring their best gear while B gets to throw everything they have at defense.
