Agent Overkill wrote:- There should be a codex of categorized information that should always be kept up-to-date somewhere.
For example: there should be a damage profile topic that shows how the types of weapons perform against shield and armor, and under that a button to expand it showing all weapons neatly nested under the correct type.
- There should be a tab showing a weapon's damage profile and above the description it should state that type.
- There should be levels of tutorials (basic, intermediate, and advanced) that feed players info and guide them through parts of the game. Players should be rewarded for completing these.
[Basic tutorials]: Player must walk, sprint, crouch, and jump. Player must fire, aim down sights, throw a grenade, fast switch weapons, and switch to equipment.
[Intermediate tutorials]: Walk/run away from a grenade indicator Reward: 5x Standard grenades of all types. (locus, flux, etc)
There are several cloaked drones around the player. Have a cloaked drone shoot, then face it by following the damage indicator, and shoot it.
Create a squad & Set squad orders.
[Advanced]: Player spawns with a dropsuit with a scrambler rifle & massdriver. Objective is to Remove targets' shields with scrambler then their armor with a massdriver to kill them. The target will have high shield and armor HP.
Player is required to spawn in with a suit without codebreakers. Objective: Hack two points, go to the supply depot next to it, switch to a fit with a complex codebreaker and hack two points. Reward: 20 standard, 10 advanced, & 5 Prototype codebreakers.
I like this idea. In-game game lore could explain them as your NPC corporation's boot camp.

Dropsuit and weapon BPO's with powercores, skins and modules in particular. So modular weapons, then? Following the proposed system of attaching the cost of the asset to the powercore it uses?
I like that idea, and it'd lead to some really neat variety of weapons used in matches.

Dropsuit and weapon BPO's with powercores, skins and modules in particular. I obviously have no idea how much CCP earns from disposable AUR gear, but I've spent hundreds of dollars on this game and have never bought any of it. I would buy AUR that could be converted to ISK in the same way that you can buy PLEX in EVE to convert to ISK. If you could add this mechanism to DUST in a convenient/prominent way (ideally with a pseudo supply/demand curve set by CCP that allows the ISK price to fluctuate based on demand) possibly via boosters.
With this mechanism in place we could delete all disposable AUR gear from the database (BPO's, Skins, etc. would remain), migrate existing stuff to the ISK version, and reduce the size of the database by a lot. Next unlock all tiers of gear at level 1 of a skill. This would create several benefits: 1. I'm pretty sure this would result in increased revenue for CCP. 2. Radically simplifies the NPE. There is plenty of stuff to figure out in this game, and the new player grokking just how the payment model works is another layer of unnecessary complexity. If a new player incorrectly concludes they have to pay real money to use certain items most will be turned off and leave. There are several ways that the current system can confuse new players on this point (e.g. the defender suits and the progression tab). 3. It makes having a limited number of available fits much less punishing. A main reason I don't use disposable AUR gear (even when I salvage it for free) is because I have to create separate fits for it. When I die in battle and need to restock, I may forget and accidentally waste AUR on it. It's just a crappy experience. 4. I suspect it will improve the performance, as it allows you guys to delete tons of stuff from the database. 5. With a smaller database, doing updates via the dev team would be much simpler because there is less stuff to change/test. 6. Did I mention this would probably INCREASE REVENUE?
Also, welcome back. I hope you enjoyed your much-deserved vacation. I also hope you got a much-deserved raise!
Best PvE idea ever!

I also came to a conclusion that skill books are unnecessary.
Their function as isk sink for the economy can be done by each level of skills costing 1/5 of the original book cost (in addition to normal SP cost, d'oh)

I think skill books are fine. If they could be traded, it would allow people to develop skill book libraries or "skill packages" to give to new players for free. If the ISK cost was wrapped up in the skill purchase, it would be much harder (logistically) to get a new player set up in the way his or her corp wanted them to be

I've played through the actual resets. Full wipe, start over.
If I could get vouchers to reclaim my skins I would take a reset. It's the only way at this point.
So many good ideas held back by loud voices. Voices that caused the current state of things.
Slit the throats and bleed out the ones who need to go.
Keep the cross-platform dream alive. Rebuild with these ideas. I've been working with udk on a dust clone. If I can get as far as I have... You guys can do it no problem.
