First and foremost...I'd like to bid all of you farewell because I have decided to retire my EVE character and my Dust 514 merc permanently. I won't be coming back, period. I'm done. Its actually not the game that has driven me out, but the player base.
Almost all of you are selfish, greedy and petty. Worry about your KDR and what others think of you and get off on being the biggest buttholes you can possibly be because you literally have nothing else in your life besides Dust 514 and your KDR.
zDemoncake is the most selfish one of all...don't join Horizons' Edge, that guy doesn't care about his own corp and in my opinion he can eat a big bowl of those short stubby things you see when you look down.
Yeah, I know you don't care and if not then this thread is not for you. Its for all the people out there that know me and played with me and will wonder where I am.

Epic, while I greatly appreciate the isk you gave me to get on my feet, what you and demon are doing is very childish. It is a game and people can do what they want. It's not like Demons a Soviet spy infiltrating our defenses. Just count to ten, come back with us, and we can all poke fun at demon while killing pub stars. Better yet, you can join the forces resisting Vaders-Fist .

exactly what i've been complaining about a lot lately, DUST players are selfish pieces of **** and CCP are greedy and only care about adding in more stuff to buy
there's only so many games of domination you can play before you get tired of people spamming explosives down from rooftops on you isn't there?
The players have killed their own game due to their own selfishness but they won't admit it. Did you really think you could carry on stomping forever guys? You can't, you lose players, these aren't robots they're real people, and believe it or not you need every single one of them for the game to survive! |

This is sad to hear. Though I've never seen you in-game and we've only interacted a few times, you're one of my favorite forum goers. Contrary to most others, I liked when you talked about your real life stuff. It's kind of hard to explain, but I felt like I could see an actual person. Most of us only talk/bicker about the game in a mad race to boost our self-esteems in an enclosed virtual world. Over time I kind of built a negative stereotype and found it hard to develop respect for other players. But you, in my opinion, built the image of a functioning person who isn't drowned in his Dust addiction and has other important things/people in his life. I respect that.
I might've worded that badly as usual. I mean no offense to those who take the game seriously. Or to those who have a healthy life and simply don't talk about it. I'm just saying that I can empathize and connect with people better when I have more details about what makes them people.

I still play, but more because of the small tight knit community that I have roled with for years. I PC because lolpubs(dom), and FW has the only skins that I'm missing.
Good luck to you guys though. You'll need it against the likes of SOG, NF, PoK, SN, etc.

Michael Epic was amazing at this game and I always wished I could play like him...... his remote explosive game was second to none and no one in this game can outfox him with remotes. I was in the neutral zone with epic and he would put up war points like I'd never seen before and that was Uprising 1.6 and prior before you had jumping and dance dance revolution strafing and stuff like that. When this game was put up or shut up Michael Epic and his Duvolle Assault Rifle ruled this game.

Michael's ex wife was smoking hot too and I know that because we used to hang out and he moved in right next door to me in Scottsville, Kentucky many years ago! I used to come over to his house on Monday's to watch WWE Monday Night Raw and we would order pizza with our other friends.
Plus Michael Epic makes music and does youtube videos and he bought his house with his song that he put out and while we were living in Kentucky he was really big on the music scene there and there was an article in the local newspaper about him and he did CD signings all over Bowling Green and everything.

I stand behind this as I only knew Michael in Dust! Times I chatted or spoke with him he is a cool guy! Hate on me for supporting this I don't GAF! The RE's is on point, I've seen him destroy a team with RE's and 1 game I went against him and those RE's lol got me everytime!

This WAS actually my first shooter.
You see....I had never played online games because people were kind of douchey about it, plus I'm like 31 years old so I grew up in the 90's and we didn't have online gaming and stuff real big around where I was. Hell, I remember dial up internet and thinking I was so cool because I was downloading the first mp3's in existence!
I came to EVE/Dust because of Spartan Princess who surprised me by posting in this thread. He's super busy with his life and his wife and his kids and I didn't expect to see him posting in here in defense of me. Spartan (Carl) played EVE when it was in its infancy around 2004-2006 or so. I watched him play because he had a big projector screen in his tiny little house and it was really awesome.
So when I learned of EVE Dust 514 first-person-shooter I thought maybe I had a shot to play with my friend Carl again. He moved away, I moved away...we're on opposite sides of the country now and I really wanted to play games with him because he is my real life friend.
So I broke my rule about not playing games online....and I started playing Dust and EVE. So yes, this was my first, first person shooter experience and likely to be my last.
I've just got other things going on man....a fiance, a stop motion project, a music project, work and a new hobby / future trade of learning to make knives from my Dad who is known knife maker Mark Kee from Kee Made Knives.
So I just don't have any time for selfish, petty, greedy, shallow little sissies and people who seem to believe how well they do in the game validates their lack of awesomness in real life and makes it okay.

Don't quit Michael, i'm 34 and married also. I watch and listen to Corp battles and people don't seem to be having as much fun as I do when I play. So I don't join a Corp, too serious for me. I will def squad with you though, don't quit. I don't much like being on comms much because listening to people get overly frustrated while i'm playing sucks, but I will squad with you when i'm on :).

Having wife and kids does make it difficult to play much less mic up! That's why my active times are unbalanced when I can get on. Just like Michael this is my first online FPS game! Michael Epic - I have fought you before and don't be discouraged by some of the negative people. Instead try to find a corp that is full of fun people. Maybe even make a corp that is full of fun people. I know I am fairly skilled but I always try to laugh at something or be a joker because this is a game!
I have been through the rise and fall of so many games, I know that half the players on Dust just think they will be note worthy for 5 minutes in someone's life it would be great. Just ease up and be note worthy by being so cool even while losing. No one remembers good winners because there are so many. A good loser is something to see!

And that's fine -- I'm not judging or anything...Priorities in life change as you get older...I'm almost 40 (been gaming since 1980), and Dust 514 could very well be my last shooter since I have the twitch reflexes of a Water Buffalo now, lolz....Yeah, I still rage occasionally, and even though I'm barely average at the game I enjoy some friendly "you suck!" banter, but at the end of the day I know how to keep things in proper perspective with regard to what's going on in my life, and I know when it's time to walk away... I did take multiple breaks "texting" it as I work after I'm done at school. On the long replies it takes me roughly thirty minutes because people keep bugging me  and I've also trained for the thumb olympics.

To all those would be trolls, EPIC is the real deal, so give it up, you can't tear him down.
If you ever had the chance to know him you would be just as upset at his leaving the game as I am. The man had nothing but KIND WORDS and ENCOURAGEMENT to say and would go out of his way to let you know. He always added to the enjoyment of the game and made you feel better as an actual person, which transcends this silly little game we play.
He's a no BS kind of guy which I greatly respect. He lives his life to the fullest, which I greatly admire.
I was upset when he and zD had a falling out and hoped that somehow things would blow over and he would come back to the fold, but I guess that isn't meant to be.
With Michael Epic's departure, this game is losing one of its best.
Michael, if you are still reading this thread, know you will be missed.

Your kind words are appreciated. You were always my favorite Horizons' Edge guy....no doubt about it. I didn't want things to work out how they did but zD just pissed me off to the point I couldn't take it.
Yes, this is just a video game but real life is real life. You like me and look forward to playing with me same as I like you and look forward to playing with you and that happens in real life because a real part of the day, 15 minutes to an hour is where that really happens.
So his lack of loyalty and his lack of concern for you, me and others just drove me mad and I wanted to make my own corp and then in the clutch I decided to hell with all of this and I'm just done. I can't take this starting over crap anymore....I started over from UMICS (corp leaders fault), I started over from The Neutral Zone (CCP's fault), I started over from Horizons' Edge and just felt so damn sad I just decided I'm not going to do it anymore.
I'm tired dude....just don't have the energy for it anymore.

Hey Michael Epic, I have no idea who you are either in game or out, but I can definitely relate to being a family man trying to have fun on the side.
My advice - put the game away for a while, maybe a month or three. I just got back myself from a several months long hiatus, playing maybe once or twice a week max now, mostly just on Saturdays when time allows. It's MUCH more enjoyable to just get on, play a few rounds, and leave without worrying about all the Corp / fake drama that goes on. Also, there should be enough changes by that time that some parts actually feel new again. Keeps it interesting.
For me, when it feels like a chore to get on then it's time to take a break. Chores aren't fun, that's why I give them to the kids! Haha!
Anyways, maybe I'll see you on the field some time. Take a break, then come back when you're ready to blow sh*t up again.

As you strip away each and every person and their contribution to your life, you find that without other people you would be nothing and lonely and probably on the brink of insanity. So people are important to you...and you are in dire need of them same as I and same as everyone else.
So to be a real "man" and really "man-up" is to take the scarier route and just be nice to people dude. A real man doesn't feel the need to put others down in order to make himself feel big and feel confident and in the end...you are acting like a child and treating others to your ignorance.
I'll pray for you, my foreign friend. I'll hope for you. I'll have faith for you and when you get older and you're having this conversation with your son, your nephews or some guy on a forum board for a video game....I hope you'll remember this discourse I have written you today and you'll see the error that was your way.
I'm not going to be brash and insult you and tell you to man up and be a real man...but it might behoove you to Google what it takes to be a real alpha male and/or look at examples of great men around you and in your life that can carry the torch for you and be a good role model.
