The lag is way more common in Skirmish regardless of whether it's a pub, FW, or PC. It also happens more frequently with 5 point maps versus 4 point maps IMO. The gal facility is guaranteed lag pretty much in this build. |

This is not acceptable, but I'm sure you guys have some line about how you already resolved the server issues, and I'm sure you won't bother acknowledging the frame rate issues. Frame rate was actually pretty close to perfect in Warlords 1.1, and the best I've ever see in Dust's history, good job ruining it.
Oh great! I can't connect to Dust anymore! just endless loading circle with (CONNECTING... Attempting to login ...) Success, logged in, after like 3 minutes. Oh, tried to login to character, and another endless loading circle. Just perfect. For this battle, according to the server log, the average ping time of the battle was 153 ms, which was normal, and your average ping time was more than 400 ms which would cause network issues (rubber-banding). What's your internet connection, and how is your PS3 connected, wired or wireless? |

I found out days later that my ISP (Time Warner) had some kind of an outage that effected my internet, though the strange thing is that other people on voice comms from the squad reported the same rubberbanding. Maybe they had the same ISP or something.
The frame rate video I posted was taken after the ISP issue was resolved though.

I could just hardline my PS3 but that would mean having a rather long and ugly cable cutting through the house and into the garage where my router and modem is at. Strangely I don't get that much lag.

I noticed that lags begins when you die untill youre fully rendered everything.
Easilly taking lag at lagoratorium (skirmish)
1. Calling a dropship with Afterburner 2. Turn afterburner on and fly horisontal to triangle platform (Close to Objective 2nd floor) 3. Hit any wall\ collumn to rotate backwards (180' horisontal) 4. Jump out. 5. Get killed asap
On your next spawn in city you will have you frame rate redused and more you die - lower FPS you have.

It is referred to often by the community as lag, but that's not really what they mean a lot of the time.
However, it does appear that lag affects frame rate drop. Though this is not confirmed. |

I would like to point out that frame rate was very good, perhaps the best it has ever been in Dust for me in Warlords 1.1. This recent build reduced my frame rate more regularly, and more substantially, so I think it's incorrect to assume my PS3 is what is responsible unless one is to assume the PS3 deteriorated dramatically on the day of the patch

The more videos/examples of fresh systems (with or without SSD) would be useful. We don't mind more material to take a look at as long as it contributes to the investigation. But yes, the current theory does include issues with hard drive, but does not exclude other options. I installed a new SSD this spring. While doing so considerable reduced the occasions of getting ramerate drops, they still happen. FW, Gallente research facility, still a complete coin toss if the battle will be playable or not.

Same here, after the latest update, massive framerate drops have become more frequent.

From my perspective, the match played very smoothly for the first half and seemed to degrade from that point forward. Spawned in our ground spawn at the very end of the match to try to get the warbarge menu up; it was even laggy way out there with no one else around.

Need a monster theory from Keeriam that we can prove.
[edit] The problem wouldn't actually be with the hard drive, just that there is a bottleneck with IO caused by poor design or a giant dirty subtle bug.
I was sitting on a static menu yesterday, 10 minutes after switching on the PS3. Only on-screen movement was flashing chat channel icons. The hard drive light was *constantly* flickering, I'd guess an average 50% load. There is no reason for that much activity in that situation.
If that is the baseline for just having the DUST client loaded, no wonder things start falling over without having to do too much else.

I've done tons of things to mitigate lag/latency in order to play, and none of that seems to matter when playing certain players or corps. Especially in PC and FW!

ive been doing that exactly! recording P.C matches & reg pubs / fws ( i have SSD vertex ocz , great internet ( 18 dl , 10 ul ) , prt fwd to dust514 severs , media port in system off , dynamics off , gaming mode on , tv ratio reduced to 40-45inch screen / in game settings at 60 , hdmi , play 720 on dust since its not for 1080 etc etc ) & i lag to hell , back & fwrd when facing certain corps & players like no tomorrow . ( Q : how does one go from slaughtering 50 clones in 3mins in a p.c & 4cap the enemy team 'Red Line" & then begin to lag to hell & cant move or budge etc ? ) "sigh" i hope to god yall have some intel on this . & also some maps are just the cause of lag as well . |

I have bought my ps3 exclusively to play Dust, so on my hard drive i have Dust + wipout + GT5, reinstalled Dust only once, playing like 1-2 hours a day, not every day, maybe on weekend a bit more. Playing solo, i used to squad up before squads visibility were removed. So with all this i have to say i whery rarely getting framerate issues, mostly when all have lags either like Gal.Facility. Before i had lags but using wired connection and its gone.
Reporting as it is,

P.S. Im using build in hdd and even so im often running 1st to objects, not always successfuly though xD, but its another story.

Today was godawful... I played from 9a-1p central. Constant rubberbanding, everyone in squad (8) felt it all day.
My last two battles were chop fests. My ps3 can handle a 17mb skyrim save, fnv (as well as one can) even ff14 flawlessly.
1.1 was rock solid, gal facility and mcc yard were ONLY maps to flake out on me, only got chops if I went like 8-9 hours binge playing.

This guy's video precisely dictates 95% of my matches lately, it's oober annoying playing all day and bearly getting to play with a non-lagged match. It's been like this for a month now and since my old ps3 yielded up the ghost, I literally went and bought a new Super Slim ps3 to play Dust 514 with my friends (even though I have a ps4). Even that isn't a sign that maybe one of your guy's server drives on tranquility are dying/defecting idk what is?! Please please fix this. |

You don't look at the right thing...
We all experienced framerate issue, with normal HDD and SSD, with good internet connection or crapy one, with a new ps3 or an old one.
Most of us reboot every hour, put details and graphic setting to off, try all the setting for the internet router to reduce problems, take one or 2 vocal channel max, erase all the contact, reduce the number of fits, buy a SSD, buy a gamer screen, test different internet providers, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc...
Your game force us to change everything or to controle everything in the pS3, like with a computer. And when we have tested everything, optimised everything, we continue to experienced very low framerate, disconnections, hard freeze, and you say it's a problem with hdd?
I'm a technician, I repair problems since 20 years. If it's a HDD problem, why do we have problems ONLY FOR DUST?
For me, it's just a game too ambitious for the PS3. Enormous maps, lot of visual effects, vehicules, orbital strike, 32 players, players stats changing constantly with the fits and the weapons, lot of sonor effects too.
If the game stayed like it was in uprising and if you worked to fix framerate without adding new contents, maybe Dust could continue to be playable.
But add-on after hotfixes after new contents, the game grows, even if you try reduce its needs in the same time. With the systems resources locked (it's not a computer), it will be harder and harder in the future.
512 m of ram, slowest hdd ever, enormous needs in internet info transfer etc... PS4 is the solution
I saw framerate issues with PES2008, 7 years ago...

I think we can get also some additional images per second with a ps3 watercooling... but the real problem is the hdd indeed... xD
