Ka-tet references a group of people brought together by ka, of Fate, for lack of a better word. It's a term from Stephen King's Dark Tower series in which a group of people are summoned to the Gunslinger's side once again to help him seek out the Dark Tower.
For one purpose or another all are random people drawn from random back grounds like our character though unlike Roland's Ka-tet who became like family we fragmented into tiny pieces and never have the opportunity to reconcile until the tet ends when everyone dies.

Crazy is good. I'm just trying to think of quirks I can give Eddie beyond the Lady Killer theme I had for him.
Also kinda think I was going about making my character. Rather than feasible Player Character I should have been looking into the NPC realms.

I shall also update this post with information about Eddie as you guys learn it.
Backstory:
Eddie grew up in a small Tribe west of the Connecticut River in Massachusetts with his Father as a pseudo outcast of the tribe due to his father's strange fascinations with pre-war technology and long departures from the Tribe. It was these departures that eventually led to his death somewhere out in the wastelands.
At some point early in his life the Tribe was eventually come upon by Missionaries from the Abbey of the Road who attempted to aid the subsiding Tribals develop into a sustainable commune. Without real guardians and eager to be rid of him the Tribe offered Eddie to the Road who accepted him into their organisation. The Abbey tried to teach him many things from Old World science, to mechanical engineering, and Scripture, however few subjects stuck with Eddie as much as pre-war medicine leading on to his becoming a Surgeon.
Like all Abbey missionaries Eddie is versed in orthodox Christian doctrine and was dispatched by his peers to the West to seek out religious relics. He eventually made it to the Mojave where he intended to seek out the Little Church of the West, a somewhat famous chapel on the Vegas Strip.
That was not his own goal however. The legacy of the Chamber's family still haunts him as he chases whispers of one of the Unlucky Eight in Nevada.
In the brief time the company had spent together they members had learned very little about one another. That being said it was reasonably safe to assume that it was common knowledge that the companions understood that Eddie had come out of the East from a small secluded cloister of Missionaries known as the Abbey of the Road, though for what reason few understood.
Knowledge of Eddie's Tribal heritage was of little surprise to the group. Few enough wasteland travellers made use of the iconic spears known to be used by the small and scattered Tribal groupings.
It was also common knowledge that Eddie was a trained and fairly skilled surgeon having practical experience in tending to wounded wastelanders under horrific conditions though fortunately few of the group had yet to have him minister to their wounds.
Personality: Eddie is a relatively happy go lucky individual which suits his good nature. He likes to spend his time talking, often times while nervous babbling to whoever will listen and himself if he is alone. This good nature however is more than just a personality trait and is pragmatic as well allowing him to speak openly with other travelers on the road to acquire information of valuables. That being said he particularly dislikes people who try to assert their authority over him or others, such as groups like the NCR and Legion, and responds with sardonic witticisms. He can also be particularly grim in the face of failure, surgical or otherwise, and is very hard on himself.

Jakar have you ever thought that rather than have Jason suffer from his inner voice when he needs a mentat eventually start talking to it and embracing discussion about higher level concepts like causality and such.
Y'know going mad because he is too intelligent.

Y'know going mad because he is too intelligent. The idea is that he suffered from the inner voice before he actually had access to mentats and it actually culminated in an incident occurring, involving him revealing himself as being a hematophage. (really enjoyed that quest in Fallout 3 by the way. Thought they could have done more with it.)
Luckily one of his parents (haven't decided whether it's his mother or father) was connected in some way to the Followers which is how he came to be with them at the Mormon Fort. Julie diagnosed and treated him, resulting in him using Mentats as a form of treatment. Being around the Followers resulted in exposure to a great deal of books, which led to his knowledge base. The voice subsided as did his strange desire though it would crop up now and again. It's more a fear of something occurring again that keeps him on the Mentats than anything else. The headaches tend to come from the addiction craving, stress and panic when he hears the voice as he's been led to believe it's a bad thing. I have an idea for a conversation with an NPC after Novac that could result in something interesting.
Mechanically the voice is part of the reason for his high perception. I'm trying to determine the extent of that so that it doesn't become an automatic ambush detector. Also a bit of a spoiler: Jason's soon out of Mentats so your characters will probably learn about it soon.
In short working with a few ideas that'll make interactions more interesting but I don't want to make it too convoluted.
Another thing - I'm wondering whether to stick rigidly to the skills and perks system or loosen it up a bit. I mean with the tags we know what his specialties are and I may keep the skill sheet just as a basis but I may loosen up on things like the level and skill requirements for perks since it's something he would gain from certain experiences occurring. As an example I'm thinking after a few more fights I'll give him Living Anatomy but he can't get it now because despite his medical skill he's not a particularly capable fighter at the moment.

I think we can afford to be a little more lax with character development as long as well keep it all within reason.
E.G - The Stone Wall Perk requires STR to pick up. Sure my character has that but I like to think the skill is more about knowing how to properly hold your ground, and you don't need to be a big guy to be hard to knock off your feet.

Aren't you miles down the road? You gave the impression that you were moving much faster than any of us. We've not yet reached the ranger station, which I think you hinted that you had already passed also said you reached an over pass and in the section of the New Vegas map we are in there is no over pass.
Technically there is one behind us between where we are and Ulysses Farmstead but then there are no cliffs nor a bill board. There is also an over pass a few miles a head of us outside Novac forming the start of the road that leads down to Nelson.
For reference the setting we were at as I think I established with Spade is
West of the Legion Encampment South of Novac North West of Ulysses Farmstead Between a small Vipers Encampment in the shadow of an old Pre-War tunnel and a Billboard behind which the Legion ambushes the NCR or Viper Gunslingers ambush you.

In terms of RP what is and isn't on the table. Clearly killing one another that this early point it right out. Mean I don't take Max for the kind of guy who wants to lose in a hand to hand fight....... and Eddie can't run for it because he is a dead eye with his revolver, at the same time Jakar is unlikely to change his character nor your yours.
We are at a sort of impasse that I'm not sure how to get around.

So I was reading through these OOC thread and the RP thread and I want to ask Max a question. You do know that Joshua Graham wasn't a part of the Followers, he was a missionary from New Canaan, and that Caesar encountered him during his trip to the Grand Canyon? Also Caesar was never at the Mormon Fort since he came directly out of NCR territory from Boneyard. Meaning Max could only ever encounter Joshua Graham in New Canaan prior to him meeting Caesar or following the formation of Caesar's Legion.

OK I suppose but you could clear it up a bit. Also at one point you mentioned your character being like late twenties I think. Caesar's Legion is 34 years old.
